✨ Introducing Dexter ✨

Dexter, the 15-year-old crab-eating macaque, is our newest addition to the park. He arrived last week all the way from Natuurhulpcentrum Opglabbeek in Belgium to hopefully be a companion for our other crab-eating macaque, Oscar.

Dexter is also a rescue monkey. He was rescued in 2017 from an Italian lab along with 20 other crab-eating macaques. He then lived happily at the Natuurhulpcentrum Opglabeek for many years.

Sadly, Dexter’s companion passed away last year and the centre began searching for a new friend for him. With help from Stitching AAP, they were able to put them in contact with us as Oscar was also in need of a companion.

He has settled in well to his new house and we have very slowly started the introduction process. Introducing these two will take some time, as Oscar has never had another monkey friend before but we hope the two will get on well in the future

We will keep you all updated with their progress. Exciting times ahead ! 🐒🐒💚

📣 Meet Oscar! 🐒

Oscar is a 9-year-old crab-eating macaque with a story that will tug at your heartstrings. He came to us from Donegal, where he was sadly kept alone in a shipping container as a pet. While he’s been safe and well cared for with us, life has still been a little lonely for Oscar.

We’ve been working hard for a long time to find him a friend, and now finally the wait is over! We’re delighted to share that Oscar’s journey to friendship has begun—he’s found a buddy who has come all the way from a Belgium rescue centre! 🎉

Of course, introducing another monkey to Oscar won’t be simple. He’s never lived with one of his own kind and doesn’t know much about monkey companionship. But we’ll take things slowly, ensuring the process is safe and stress-free for him.

Stay tuned to hear more about this next chapter in Oscar’s journey. We can't wait to introduce you to Oscars new buddy soon! 🐵❤️

If you've ever visited Secret Valley, you’ve probably met this cheeky chap "Monkey" – our mischievous alpha male capuchin! He's known for squishing onions against the window, jumping out to give our guests a scare, and occasionally being a bit cheeky in front of a crowd!

Monkey came to us from our partner zoo, AAP, where he was rescued after living as an ex-pet. Now, he’s thriving here with his group of fellow capuchins.
