Sadly available for adoption through no fault of his own, meet Elvis the pot belly pig. He is 3yrs old, nuetured, extremely friendly, loves children, dogs and other animals, very gentle and clean in the house and has never dug up the ground (although that could change I suppose) Please contact Leah Hartley here on Facebook or pm for her number.

Many people do not understand that the official term of “behaviourist” is reserved for us individuals who have completed specific advanced academic programmes from QUALIFIED educational institutions, and that “certified dog trainer” applies to a range of practitioners who might follow any number of pathways to training proficiency. When paying money for an "expert" its in your best interests to make sure they have the proper qualifications (dont be afraid to ask to see them) or they will probably make the problems worse!

There is no place for abuse in dog training. There are horrific videos going around the internet of one particular trainer who’s techniques are disgraceful and abusive. It doesn’t matter whether you are working with a Pug, a Bulldog or a Leonberger like this beauty here - there is zero justification for cruelty, regardless of the issue. This male trainer has a large following of people who are swayed into thinking that stringing dogs up by their leashes and collars until they defecate on themselves is ok because ultimately it ‘saves dogs’ lives’ and stops them from being euthanized. This is a myth. Please do not be conned into thinking this is ok for any dog, and if you care about your dog or dogs’ welfare in general, avoid watching, sharing or supporting this man and make your voice heard.
As an ambassador for the RSPCA, I take cruelty to animals in general and in dog training very seriously. I have fought against it for over 20 years and will continue to do so. Everything we do at VSPDT, VSA and Positively shows you effective alternatives to harsh methods, and exposes the truth behind the myths of antiquated and dangerous theories, beliefs and methods.

This video is to demonstrate how slippery wood/laminate and lino is for our dogs. It is vital that you have enough mats to allow for your babies to be and feel safe at all times. Animals don't show anxiety until its severe so don't think just because he/she SEEMS OK with slippery flooring that they are. Also, very important - keep the hair around the pads trimmed. 🥰

Protect the neck (and eyes)

Harnesses don’t put any pressure on the delicate neck area. There is evidence to suggest that continued pressure on the neck and throat can lead to back and neck problems, as well as issues linked to thyroid damage and eye problems. Swedish behaviourist Anders Hallgren conducted a study of 400 dogs in which he found that 63% of the dogs had neck and spinal injuries. Of those dogs, 91% had been exposed to jerks on the lead or had a long history of pulling and straining on the end of a lead. He found that "pulling and jerking on the leash affect especially the neck and throat of the dog...the muscles that absorb the pressure are situated mostly at the sides of the neck. The neck and throat are almost unprotected."
