And she is safely in foal to Emerald van Rutyershof.

She's beautiful and all blood. Suitable to breed with any stallion!

A tall, scopey 3 yo filly, safely in foal to Nadim il Faut. She has an excellent pedigree; from the family of Dino W (1.60) and Van Dutch (1.60). And she is a wonderful type to breed jumpers!

We are so proud and delighted to have won the 6yo RDS Showjumping Championship on Sunday with Boleybawn ALVARO ( Dominator 2000 Z x Arina) . I just want to thank everyone who congratulated us and helped to make this happen. It's a dream come true. We are a small breeding operation and since 2017 we have now won the 4yo , 5yo , 6yo and 8 and 9yo Championships at Dublin which I can hardly believe myself. On reflection, I realise that it has all happened because we have a great team here at Boleybawn and we have had the opportunity to collaborate with the best stables in Ireland; Castlefield Sporthorses and Ballypatrick Stables and of course we have been blessed with some fantastic horses. This victory is the same. Alvaro is a true champion, I have never had anything to do with a horse that has so much quality and this will to jump but without Greg Broderick (who jointly owns Alvaro) coming on board none of this could have happened. His entire team have cared for Alvaro with expert knowledge and dedication like no other and Niamh Mcevoy has absolutely filled Alvaro with the confidence to bring out his best. It takes a village alright but it needs to be a great village !

This is the seed mixture that we used on the land we've reseeded. It's the first time we've used this, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. No clover, some timothy and more old fashioned rye grass varieties. It should be more dense, resilient, and palatable for horses than most commercial mixes.

Vet student placements available!

Boleybawn Horses is a breeding and training establishment where you can work hands on with all aspects of breeding and sport veterinary. During the months Apr - September we do a lot of breeding with sport horse mares and manage a large herd of embryo transfer recipient mares. During the season we have about 20 foals born, 50 mares inseminated and  participate in about 150 embryo transfers. 

During a placement you will;

Observe embryo transfer procedure carried out

Observe and be introduced to ultrasound scanning 

Observe caslicks procedure

Carry out chilled semen insemination 

Carry out basic analysis of semen under microscope

Observe mares foaling 

Learn about mare and foal husbandry 

Observe the method used for cervical swabbing and culturing 

Accommodation provided free of charge.

RIDER OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking to hire a second competition rider to help produce our young horses. We have a strong string of very high talented 4 and 5 year olds and have had great success in recent years in young horse competitions. We are looking for a motivated rider to be a part of our team.

You would be riding alongside our current stable rider.

Riding 6 horses per day and caring for them. 

Regular training. 

Riding at shows weekly.

Aiming at all prestigious young horse classes.

6 days, 7.30am - 5pm . 

20 days paid holidays per year.

It was great to see all these young people come to our farm on Saturday. They are the . Everyone in this group travelled to learn of their own volition, which is most refreshing. It's fantastic to see so many people endeavouring to learn themselves.

A few years ago, I attended a brainstorming meeting for the "Reaching New Heights" initiative. The general consensus was that more education was needed in the equine sector, and grants were then made available for people to attend such meetings. Well, I would believe the first thing you need is the desire to learn, and then you will find a way to learn. And it was evident that everyone who attended on Saturday had that desire and went away with more knowledge than they came with.

Well done to everyone who attended and group leaders; Wendy Conlon, Philip Scott and Andrew Hughes.

These foals were all sold on our online auction back in September, but they can't travel to their new owners because we haven't got their passports issued yet. We've made about 30 applications this year and have only 2 passports back!
