My name is Jodi Plit-Shapiro. I am a passionate English teacher and Translator. I can translate from French, Spanish & Italian into English. I have always been enthusiastic about languages. English is my mother tongue and I also have an excellent command of French, Spanish and Italian. I also speak Hebrew at an intermediate level. I have a
TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Diploma. I have a Bachelor of International Studies in French, Spanish and Italian with distinction from UNSW, which included an intensive period specializing in multi-way translation between English, French, Spanish and Italian at the University of Zaragoza, Spain and University of Bologna, Italy. I have also spent time living, working and studying in Paris and in the north of France. I am also an Australian Qualified Lawyer. Translation from French, Spanish & Italian into English:
I am an experienced French to English, Spanish to English, and Italian to English Freelance Translator. I am able to provide professional translations of the highest quality across all industries (including medical, legal, industrial, government, immigration, tax) and all mediums (including opinions, memorandums, essays, letters, applications, brochures, technical manuals, certificates) for companies and for individuals. I am based in Tel Aviv, but I can provide translations internationally. English Teaching and Tutoring:
I have over 5 years experience teaching English to children and adults at all levels, and I can provide private tutoring as well as teach groups. I have taught English in Israel, Australia, South Africa, Spain, and Mexico. I can tailor my lessons to suit your individual needs and level of English (from beginner through to advanced). My lessons can include speaking and having conversations in English, reading, writing, listening, grammar, and spelling, depending on your needs and interests. I believe that learning languages should be a fun experience and I enjoy using diverse mediums to teach (for example, songs, newspaper clippings, watching news items and exerts from movies, reading exerts from books), which we can use as a starting point to discuss varied topics in English, to discuss language and grammar points, and to practice listening to different accents and expressions. I also like to introduce cultural aspects in lessons so that students can learn more about diverse English speaking countries- I have lived in South Africa, Australia and Ireland. I find that students learn better by immersing themselves in the English language during the lesson by listening and speaking in English as much as possible, and therefore I prefer giving instructions and explanations in English. However, if the student feels more comfortable that I give instructions and explanations in Hebrew, French, Spanish or Italian, I am happy to do so. In addition to my love of languages and different cultures, I love ancient history, classic rock music, reading classic novels, watching classic movies, yoga, anti-gravity yoga, salsa dancing, swimming and animals.
