These two, 5 week old inquisitive Aussiedoodle sisters will be available for adoption at 7-8 weeks, from erev Pessach. Little blackie, quiet, observing, in play we are not sure if she is not a bear cub the ways she uses her paws! And she can't have enough loving. Smaller and smarter is her MO.
The white collared girl is a playful bundle of joy, also very smart and loving. She was the first to climb up and down stairs. Both are very friendly to dogs and people. Engaging.
Their mother, Gani, is a rare miniature Australian Shepherd with exquisite breeding. She hardly sheds. Their father, Milo, is a moyen F1 Aussiedoodle, the first in Israel and progenitor of all or almost all Aussiedoodles in Israel.
These 75% Shepherd AD's in our experience are also non shedding or very little.

Midnite
We’ve all lobbied G-D to send the souls of our beloved family pets to “canine heaven.” Midnite had been dead to us for over 3 years. Yesterday, I was privileged to witness Midnite enter Canine Heaven. She and her nine gorgeous pups had just come home after 3 ½ years as a Jerusalem stray and it was obvious that in her mind she’d gone to heaven:
1. She remembered Milo and Emma (alpha male and female) and was greeted immediately as a member of the family pack; not one bark; not even from the 3 other dogs she’d never met. They touched noses, licked and butt sniffed. They established dominance rank order; within minutes it was clear that Midnite had leap frogged Pepper, Hettie and Gan to become Emma’s subordinate lieutenant. The pack had just become more balanced as Pepper’s sub pack (Gan and Hettie) could no longer challenge Emma’s role. The house became more friendly and less contentious. It seemed Pepper actually enjoyed having a new lieutenant and being relieved of protest duty. All this without noise, contention or tumult.
2. All the dogs and puppies entered her room; full of 9 free roaming 3 week olds. The pack immediately comforted them, cleaned them and protected them!
3. She remembered the layout of the house; water fountain locations, how to use agility equipment in the back yard, the furniture and the “schedule.”
4. She had a neck deep warm bath shampoo shedding years of filth and revealing bald spots where the dreadlocks had been torn off. Hundreds of dead ticks, burrs and thorns were exposed; we spent an hour cleaning and treating the wounds and decided to have her shaved as soon as the wounds had healed sufficiently-we couldn’t get her completely clean. Yet she emerged a gorgeous Aussiedoodle with soft curly poodle-ish hair.
5. Her pups are beautiful! They loved their bath and are gregarious, well developed, smart and puppy friendly. It occurred to me that Midnite was running in a very rich neighborhood; these pups could have awesome pedigrees.
6. She cavorted and played with all the dogs. She reverted to her 9-month old behavior of jumping paws to my knees, mouth open, tail wagging, eyes flashing; “I’m sooo happy.”

I woke up this morning to find Midnite, her head under my chin, cuddling me. Doggie Heaven is closer to us than you may think!

On May 30, 2019 we received a call from the Jerusalem Veterinary Service informing us that a dog with a chip identifying her as “Midnite” was being held at the Veterinary facility along with 9 of her 1 week old pups. She had been captured by being shot with a dart after biting someone. We had sold this beautiful Aussiedoodle, then 1 year old, over 3 years ago, but she was still registered to us because she escaped from her new owners the day they brought her home. We tried in vain to find her for weeks. She had disappeared without a trace. Her owners, after a few months, gave her up for dead and bought a puppy from us whom they love dearly.
We went to see Midnite that same day. The vet told us that she was vicious; ”don’t go in the cage…she will attack you.” He said they would have put her down immediately, but for the pups. We approached the cage with great trepidation and realized that this little dog had been wandering the streets of Jerusalem for 3.5 years. She has non shedding poodle hair. It has to be cut 3 times a year or it will mat up and injure the dog. Her hair had matted up to form dreadlocks that dragged along the ground.
I entered the cage and called out “Midnite come!” She jumped out of the box where she was nursing her pups and ran to me. She jumped up and licked my face. She recognized me and reverted to the angel we remembered. We fed her the chicken we had brought. She gently ate from our hands, pausing only to lick our faces. We discovered that she was covered with ticks, had sores all over her body and could barely see through the matted hair.
The next day we brought sheep shears, systemic tick poison (Bravecto) and a whole chicken. We cut off the dreadlocks and spent an hour with her and the pups. The facility is clean but very noisy; no place to raise puppies. I borrowed a leash and took her for a walk…she remembers her training but she was terrified of all the ferocious dogs we passed.
She is in quarantine; the law says 15 nights because she hasn’t been vaccinated in over 3 years. When the Vet saw her with us and realized that she was not a threat he offered to reduce her “sentence” if we obtained a blood titer verifying her immunity to rabies. With any luck we can take her and the nine pups home next week.
We will pay all the fines and fees and we will pay for the titer which we have to deliver to the laboratory an hour and a half away. She has a home and we will rehabilitate her but we must find good homes for the pups, who can be adopted by mid July. We pray that the pups don’t catch disease from the kennel environment before we can rescue them.
We introduced Aussiedoodles to Israel 8 years ago and have sold close to 200 of them over the years. They are the perfect dog for Israel! They are suitable for apartments but can be kept outdoors as well. They do not shed and are as hypoallergenic as a poodle. They are very friendly, great with kids, graceful, athletic, very hardy, and are the smartest dogs in Israel. We sell them for 5000 NIS and we have a waiting list.
We cannot sell the pups as Aussiedoodles: we do not know the father(s). They are ½ Aussiedoodle. Amazingly, they appear very healthy; Midnite is a great mom. We will nurture them as if they were Aussiedoodles. Within a few weeks we will ascertain their personalities and their characteristics. We will post pictures and report on their progress.
It is a miracle that Midnite survived so long on her own. Another miracle that her pups are healthy and well. If you or someone you know is looking for a puppy please let us know.
