erson in Asia and one of 9 people in the world, to have gained an accreditation from the Kennel Club of England’s elite KCAI scheme for dog trainers and behaviourists. Since her childhood days, Nidhi has always been passionate about dogs and they have never ceased to fascinate her with their means of communication and ways of expression. Dogs have a certain aura that fill the surrounding with absolute positivity and enhance the life of their owners. To explore this phenomenon further, which is essentially supported with scientific research; and to utilize it to create a very strong bond between humans and dogs, she took a plunge into this unconventional field of “Dog Training”. Training Methods:
For Nidhi, training is a means to establish a strong bond with the dogs, and in the process also to inculcate good manners in them, helpful for co-existence with the humans. She robustly believes in training the dogs using Positive Reinforcement Method, side-stepping the old school training method by use of harsh techniques which eventually leads to fearfulness in the dogs. Glad to share that I have been awarded Udgam's 15th Women Achievers Award for working in Animal Field under the Environement category - received it from UK Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat and Rajasthan, Steve Hickling!!

So thankful to my husband, my parents, my in- laws, my friends, my clients and the entire doggy network, and most importantly the dogs who let me work for them relentlessly!! 😀 This wouldn't have happened without the support and boost from each one of you!

Last Sunday was a day to remember: from getting up at 3 in the morning to experiencing an enriching trail with dogs: it was power- packed!
Had an amazing group of 8 pet parents and 9 dogs. A , 2 golden retrievers, 3 labs, a rough collie and a bichon frise comprised of the pack, all with different energy levels, stamina, genetics, age groups and with their own history of behaviours... One dog came with a history of non- stop hu***ng, one with doubts whether he'll be able to hike so long, one was a small breed furry dog, while another the youngest being a 4.5 month old pup and also the eldest one was a 12 year old , there was yet one who had reactivity issues if someone entered in his space, while there were 2 with strong herding instincts..

However, few minutes into the hike and these dogs set out an amazing pace and calmed down the energies- less pulling and more sniffing - well, ensuring the distances and placements played a role as much as NATURE played it's role!!
None had issues with each other and the way they've explored! This was a day the dogs got to be dogs! Digging up the sand, walking the marshy land, climbing up the trails, and sniffing to their heart's delight! Eventually, it was a pack, where every dog waited for others to join, and also while resting they saw to it to stick together and not wander away..

Not to forget mentioning, it was heart warming to see these dogs wait for their humans and encourage them to climb up a trail which they would easily scout.. the Dog parents challenged themselves to walk this route for their dogs and it was so overwhelming to see the bond cultivate...

All in all, the dogs had their day, and the Tails had fun on the Trails!!

Often, I get asked, what's the right age to start training? Well, the day the puppy lands home! The puppy is observing, learning, and absorbing each and everything happening around. Do not wait for the right time, start reinforcing good behaviours from day 1 and set the pup up for success! Puppy proof the house, toilet train from day 1, Reduce the amount of No bad boy/girl and increase the amount of Yes, Good Boy/ Girl and you'll barely see issues cropping up with appropriate guidance!

Earlier this week, we collaborated with canine behavior specialist, , for an interactive workshop with the communities to better understand our four-legged friends, avoid mishandling situations that involve street dogs, and foster a peaceful coexistence between humans and dogs.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
There are a number of events happening around us for our dogs, but few things to keep in mind to celebrate the Christmas carnival and New Year's is:
1. Does your dog really enjoy being in the crowded space? 🤔

2. Does he/she love to put on fancy Tees and junks? 🤔

3. Do they really enjoy making friends with new dogs? 🤔

4. Are they okay being petted by strangers and love to hang out with them? 🤔

If it was a NO for even one of the above questions then here's what you can do instead 😀:
1. Go out for a nice hike in the forest or near a river. Let them experience nature. 🌳🍂🏞

2. Allow them to dig and get dirty in muddy grasslands or play in sand pits🏖

3. Get an enrichment toy for them or DIY any interesting game.🎯

4. Invest a little more time in playing and lazing around with them. 🥎

5. Do what they please rather than doing what pleases you!! 🦮🐾

A friendly reminder to beat your Monday Blues and have fun with the furries around!! When was the last time you took a minute to spend time with the streeties and just pet or cuddle or play with them?!

Training is a tool to communicate and not just about commands. And when there are multiple people dealing with a dog, training should happen at all levels- right from all the staff members to all the family members, even those who visit once in a while but are a part of the family.. Seen here is Makhan learning his basics with the staff- to stay on the mat since he gets hyper to go and greet people, and simply dashes out into the huge garden where there are monkeys and other birds of prey! If you see thoroughly, the entire 1 min training for STAY is broken down into several small small steps: 1. Clear communication of what is expected by using crisp tone and body language 2. Lots of praises and affection whenever he obeys through the command. 3. Not escalating the distance and time drastically, being gradual about it. To reach the goal, the basic steps are essential. Slowly build up to what you expect from your dog and you'll never have a dog that doesn't want to listen to you!!

Many times we think food is the prime most important thing in a dog's life, however if you look deeply, it's also shelter, affection and safety that is really important to a dog, apart from food! The importance of training at the right age: Bambi, a 6 month old cocker can control her impulses to not jump up on the table or lick and sniff food even when put at her height because of 2 reasons: 1. Bambi knew what her boundaries are since she was a pup. Going on table tops is a big no- no. 2. Her pawrent was very consistent , patient and persistent with the practice. There were bloopers at early stages but then you achieve progress with baby steps! Featuring here is a bowl of cucumber - Bambi's favorite treat and a papaya smoothie for me(perks of having clients who love to experiment with healthy power food and convert it to super tasty versions 😄 ). Papaya is bambi's favorite fruit too, you may observe her taking a whiff off the air! P.s.: She was taught the "leave it" command online, so if you think that online sessions are not for you, then reconsider it! It's only how much practice you put in and make it count.
