A heartfelt gratitude to for honoring the Wildlife Warriors of Alibag and acknowledging our work and efforts towards wildlife and snake rescues at the Varsoli Beach Festival in Alibag on December 23, 2023. This event provided a valuable platform for us to engage with the community and promote the crucial message of coexisting with wildlife.

It's been four years since the establishment of WWA by our founder, Dr. Prasad Dabholkar, we take pride in the collective efforts that have led to the successful rescue of over 3000 snakes and wild animals.

This achievement is a testament to the teamwork and support from everyone who has contributed to our mission of safeguarding wildlife in and around Alibag. Thank you to all our supporters for playing a vital role in our journey!

मण्यार, हा साप भारतातील प्रमुख ४ विषारी प्रजातींपैकी एक आहे; तरीही तो आपल्या निशाचर वृत्ती आणि विशिष्ट अधिवास निवडीमुळे क्वचितच माणसांच्या दृष्टीस पडतो.
हा साप प्रामुख्याने पाण्याचे स्त्रोत असणाऱ्या वनांमध्ये राहणे व रात्रीच्या वेळी शिकार करणे पसंत करतो.
मवाळ स्वभावाच्या ह्या सापाने दंश केल्याच्या घटना तुलनेत कमी घडतात, मात्र ह्याचे न्युरो टॉक्सिक प्रकारातील विष अत्यंत जहाल असून वैद्यकीय क्षेत्रात उपयुक्त ठरते.

The Common Krait is one of the four major venomous snakes found in India, though encounters with it are less frequent compared to the other members of this group due to its elusive nature and habitat preference.
This snake primarily inhabits densely wooded areas near water sources and is primarily nocturnal, hunting at night for its prey.
Its venom is potent and neurotoxic, making it medically significant. Despite its shy and docile nature, snake bites by the Common Krait do occur, but such incidents are rare.

पावसाळ्यामध्ये हमखास नजरेस पडणारा हा साप दीवड, पाणसाप, पाण सरडा, किंवा म्हश्या इत्यादी नावाने ओळखला जातो. प्रामुख्याने तळी, विहिरी इत्यादी गोड्या पाण्याच्या जलाशयात आणि पाणथळ जागेमध्ये विहार करणारा हा साप बिनविषारी असल्यामुळे माणसाच्या दृष्टीने निरुपद्रवी आणि जीवितास धोका न पोचवणारा आहे.
आपल्या आवारात हा साप आल्यास सोबत दिलेल्या फोटो प्रमाणे ओळख पटवून सर्प मित्र येई पर्यंत तुम्ही निश्चिंत राहू शकता किंवा त्याला न हटकता आपल्या मार्गाने जाऊ दिल्यास अधिक उत्तम!

सरलेल्या ऑगस्ट महिन्याभरामध्ये आम्हाला विविध प्रजातींच्या प्राण्यांची सुटका करण्यात यश आले.
कार्यकर्त्यांच्या अथक परिश्रमाने सुटका करण्यात आलेल्या प्राण्यांमध्ये ११७ साप तर ४ घोरपडींचा समावेश होता.
सुटका करण्यात आलेल्या सापांमध्ये ६६ नाग, ५ घोणस, १ मण्यार, २८ धामण, ५ दिवड, ३ कवड्या, २ अजगर, १ पहाडी तस्कर, ३ कुकरी, २ धूळ नागीण आणि एका नानेटीचा समावेश होता.

Throughout August, we've successfully saved a plethora of different snake species, ranging in sizes and colors.
Our team of dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to rescue these beautiful creatures, and we are proud to announce that we've managed to save a total of 117 snakes (Including 66 Spectacled Cobras, 5 Russell's Vipers, a Common Krait, 28 Rat Snakes, 5 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Wolf Snakes, 2 Indian Rock Pythons, a Montane Trinket, 3 Kukri snakes, 2 Banded Racers, a Striped Keelback) and 4 Monitor Lizards.

मे महिन्यात वाढलेल्या उन्हाच्या कडाक्यामुळे वन्यप्राण्यांचा वावर काहीसा कमी झाला होता.
तरीही आमच्या टीमला ७२ बचाव कार्यासाठी पाचारण करण्यात आले व ते सर्व आम्ही यशस्वीपणे पार पाडले. ज्यामध्ये ३२ नाग, २ घोणस, २० धामण, ४ दिवड, ३ डूरक्या घोणस आणि प्रत्येकी एक कृष्णशीर्ष, कवड्या व नानेटी हे साप तर पक्ष्यांमध्ये २ गव्हाणी घुबड आणि एक-एक श्रुंगी घुबड, घार, बगळा, रक्तलोचन घुबड व बुल-बुल होते; ह्यांच्या बरोबरीने एका खारीला देखील जीवनदान देण्यात आम्ही यशस्वी झालो.

In the month of May, our team has competently made 71 rescues including 32 Spectacled Cobras, 2 Russell's Vipers, 20 Rat Snakes, 4 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Common Sand Boas, a Dumeril's Black Headed Snake, a Wolf Snake, and a Striped Keelback.
In birds, we rescued 2 Barn Owls, an Eagle Owl, a Kite, an Egret, a Mottled Wood Owl, a Bulbul and also a Squirrel.

गव्हाणी घुबड हा साधारण पणे मानवी वस्तीजवळ आढळणारा पक्षी आहे. हा पक्षी उंदीर, घुशी इत्यादी कृदंत प्राण्यांच्या संख्येवर नियंत्रण ठेवण्याची महत्त्वाची भूमिका निभावतो.
पण सध्याचे वाढते शहरीकरण, रासायनिक खतांचा वापरा मुळे ह्यांची संख्या झपाट्याने कमी व्हायला लागली आहे.
निसर्गाचा समतोल राखण्यात मोलाची भूमिका बजावणाऱ्या ह्या पक्षाच नियोजनपूर्वक संवर्धन करणे अत्यंत आवश्यक आहे.

Barn owls are more of a city bird. These birds play an important role in controlling rodent populations, making them a valuable asset to farmers and city dwellers alike.
Despite their urban habitat, barn owls face threats from habitat destruction, pesticide use, and road fatalities. Conservation efforts are crucial to ensure the survival of these fascinating birds.

काही दिवसांपूर्वी आम्हाला एका रस्ते बांधकामाच्या ठिकाणी, गरम डांबरावर चिकटलेल्या एका नागाच्या सुटकेसाठी फोन आला होता. त्या नागाच्या संपूर्ण शरीरावर डांबर चिकटल्यामुळे तो पूर्ण भाजलेला व अत्यंत हलाखीच्या अवस्थेत होता.
माहिती मिळताच क्षणाचाही विलंब न करता आमचे कार्यकर्ते तिथे पोचले आणि नागाला डांबरातून मोकळे केले त्यानंतर त्याची प्राथमिक आरोग्य तपासणी करून पुढील उपचारासाठी पुण्याला रवाना केले.
थोड्याच दिवसात, पूर्णतः तंदुरुस्त झालेल्या नागाला त्याच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले.
अत्यंत गंभीर अवस्थेतील नागाची योग्य वेळेत मिळालेल्या उपचारांमुळे अगदी अशक्य वाटलेली अशी सुधारणा होऊन त्याला पुन्हा निसर्गामध्ये विहार करता येणे हे सर्पमित्रांचे निसर्गाशी असलेल्या बांधिलकीचे लक्षण आहे!
ह्यात मोलाचा हातभार लावणाऱ्या ResQ team तसेच वन विभाग, अलिबाग ह्यांचे मनःपूर्वक आभार.

The successful release of a cobra is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of wildlife rescuers and volunteers who rescued this troubled snake and dedicated themselves to nursing it back to health.
The snake had been in tremendous distress and had sustained dire injuries due to getting stuck on hot melted tar on a road construction site.
The team's painstaking efforts paid off, and the snake is now back in its natural habitat, far away from harm's way.
Thanks to volunteers of Wildlife Warriors of Alibag, team RESQ and Alibag forest department for their efforts and assistance in getting this snake up and about.

एप्रिल महिन्यामध्ये आम्ही स्वयंसेवकांच्या अथक परिश्रमांच्या जोरावर ९८ वन्यजीवांची यशस्वीरीत्या सुटका केली ज्यामध्ये विविध प्रजातीच्या सापांचा आणि एका डौलदार शृंगी घुबडाचा समावेश होता.
सापांमधे ४९ नाग, ६ घोणस, २३ धामण, ८ रूखई, ८ दिवड, ३ डूरक्या घोणस, २ कवड्या, २ नानेटी व १ कुकरी ह्या प्रजांतीना जीवदान देण्यात यश आले.
ह्या कार्यामध्ये अनन्यसाधारण भूमिका निभावणाऱ्या आमच्या स्वयंसेवकांचे आम्ही ऋणी आहोत.

In April, our team completed 98 successful rescues, including various snakes and a beautiful Indian Eagle Owl.
Our volunteers worked tirelessly to save 49 Spectacled Cobras, 6 Russell's Vipers, 23 Rat Snakes, 8 Bronzeback Tree Snakes, 8 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Common Sand Boas, 2 Wolf Snakes, 2 Striped Keelbacks, and 1 Kukri Snake.
We are thrilled with this accomplishment and grateful to our dedicated volunteers for their hard work and commitment to wild animals.
