A heartfelt gratitude to for honoring the Wildlife Warriors of Alibag and acknowledging our work and efforts towards wildlife and snake rescues at the Varsoli Beach Festival in Alibag on December 23, 2023. This event provided a valuable platform for us to engage with the community and promote the crucial message of coexisting with wildlife.

It's been four years since the establishment of WWA by our founder, Dr. Prasad Dabholkar, we take pride in the collective efforts that have led to the successful rescue of over 3000 snakes and wild animals.

This achievement is a testament to the teamwork and support from everyone who has contributed to our mission of safeguarding wildlife in and around Alibag. Thank you to all our supporters for playing a vital role in our journey!

मण्यार, हा साप भारतातील प्रमुख ४ विषारी प्रजातींपैकी एक आहे; तरीही तो आपल्या निशाचर वृत्ती आणि विशिष्ट अधिवास निवडीमुळे क्वचितच माणसांच्या दृष्टीस पडतो.
हा साप प्रामुख्याने पाण्याचे स्त्रोत असणाऱ्या वनांमध्ये राहणे व रात्रीच्या वेळी शिकार करणे पसंत करतो.
मवाळ स्वभावाच्या ह्या सापाने दंश केल्याच्या घटना तुलनेत कमी घडतात, मात्र ह्याचे न्युरो टॉक्सिक प्रकारातील विष अत्यंत जहाल असून वैद्यकीय क्षेत्रात उपयुक्त ठरते.

The Common Krait is one of the four major venomous snakes found in India, though encounters with it are less frequent compared to the other members of this group due to its elusive nature and habitat preference.
This snake primarily inhabits densely wooded areas near water sources and is primarily nocturnal, hunting at night for its prey.
Its venom is potent and neurotoxic, making it medically significant. Despite its shy and docile nature, snake bites by the Common Krait do occur, but such incidents are rare.

पावसाळ्यामध्ये हमखास नजरेस पडणारा हा साप दीवड, पाणसाप, पाण सरडा, किंवा म्हश्या इत्यादी नावाने ओळखला जातो. प्रामुख्याने तळी, विहिरी इत्यादी गोड्या पाण्याच्या जलाशयात आणि पाणथळ जागेमध्ये विहार करणारा हा साप बिनविषारी असल्यामुळे माणसाच्या दृष्टीने निरुपद्रवी आणि जीवितास धोका न पोचवणारा आहे.

सरलेल्या ऑगस्ट महिन्याभरामध्ये आम्हाला विविध प्रजातींच्या प्राण्यांची सुटका करण्यात यश आले.
कार्यकर्त्यांच्या अथक परिश्रमाने सुटका करण्यात आलेल्या प्राण्यांमध्ये ११७ साप तर ४ घोरपडींचा समावेश होता.
सुटका करण्यात आलेल्या सापांमध्ये ६६ नाग, ५ घोणस, १ मण्यार, २८ धामण, ५ दिवड, ३ कवड्या, २ अजगर, १ पहाडी तस्कर, ३ कुकरी, २ धूळ नागीण आणि एका नानेटीचा समावेश होता.

Throughout August, we've successfully saved a plethora of different snake species, ranging in sizes and colors.
Our team of dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to rescue these beautiful creatures, and we are proud to announce that we've managed to save a total of 117 snakes (Including 66 Spectacled Cobras, 5 Russell's Vipers, a Common Krait, 28 Rat Snakes, 5 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Wolf Snakes, 2 Indian Rock Pythons, a Montane Trinket, 3 Kukri snakes, 2 Banded Racers, a Striped Keelback) and 4 Monitor Lizards.

मे महिन्यात वाढलेल्या उन्हाच्या कडाक्यामुळे वन्यप्राण्यांचा वावर काहीसा कमी झाला होता.
तरीही आमच्या टीमला ७२ बचाव कार्यासाठी पाचारण करण्यात आले व ते सर्व आम्ही यशस्वीपणे पार पाडले. ज्यामध्ये ३२ नाग, २ घोणस, २० धामण, ४ दिवड, ३ डूरक्या घोणस आणि प्रत्येकी एक कृष्णशीर्ष, कवड्या व नानेटी हे साप तर पक्ष्यांमध्ये २ गव्हाणी घुबड आणि एक-एक श्रुंगी घुबड, घार, बगळा, रक्तलोचन घुबड व बुल-बुल होते; ह्यांच्या बरोबरीने एका खारीला देखील जीवनदान देण्यात आम्ही यशस्वी झालो.

In the month of May, our team has competently made 71 rescues including 32 Spectacled Cobras, 2 Russell's Vipers, 20 Rat Snakes, 4 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Common Sand Boas, a Dumeril's Black Headed Snake, a Wolf Snake, and a Striped Keelback.
In birds, we rescued 2 Barn Owls, an Eagle Owl, a Kite, an Egret, a Mottled Wood Owl, a Bulbul and also a Squirrel.

गव्हाणी घुबड हा साधारण पणे मानवी वस्तीजवळ आढळणारा पक्षी आहे. हा पक्षी उंदीर, घुशी इत्यादी कृदंत प्राण्यांच्या संख्येवर नियंत्रण ठेवण्याची महत्त्वाची भूमिका निभावतो.
पण सध्याचे वाढते शहरीकरण, रासायनिक खतांचा वापरा मुळे ह्यांची संख्या झपाट्याने कमी व्हायला लागली आहे.
निसर्गाचा समतोल राखण्यात मोलाची भूमिका बजावणाऱ्या ह्या पक्षाच नियोजनपूर्वक संवर्धन करणे अत्यंत आवश्यक आहे.

Barn owls are more of a city bird. These birds play an important role in controlling rodent populations, making them a valuable asset to farmers and city dwellers alike.
Despite their urban habitat, barn owls face threats from habitat destruction, pesticide use, and road fatalities. Conservation efforts are crucial to ensure the survival of these fascinating birds.

काही दिवसांपूर्वी आम्हाला एका रस्ते बांधकामाच्या ठिकाणी, गरम डांबरावर चिकटलेल्या एका नागाच्या सुटकेसाठी फोन आला होता. त्या नागाच्या संपूर्ण शरीरावर डांबर चिकटल्यामुळे तो पूर्ण भाजलेला व अत्यंत हलाखीच्या अवस्थेत होता.
माहिती मिळताच क्षणाचाही विलंब न करता आमचे कार्यकर्ते तिथे पोचले आणि नागाला डांबरातून मोकळे केले त्यानंतर त्याची प्राथमिक आरोग्य तपासणी करून पुढील उपचारासाठी पुण्याला रवाना केले.
थोड्याच दिवसात, पूर्णतः तंदुरुस्त झालेल्या नागाला त्याच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले.
अत्यंत गंभीर अवस्थेतील नागाची योग्य वेळेत मिळालेल्या उपचारांमुळे अगदी अशक्य वाटलेली अशी सुधारणा होऊन त्याला पुन्हा निसर्गामध्ये विहार करता येणे हे सर्पमित्रांचे निसर्गाशी असलेल्या बांधिलकीचे लक्षण आहे!

The successful release of a cobra is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of wildlife rescuers and volunteers who rescued this troubled snake and dedicated themselves to nursing it back to health.
The snake had been in tremendous distress and had sustained dire injuries due to getting stuck on hot melted tar on a road construction site.
The team's painstaking efforts paid off, and the snake is now back in its natural habitat, far away from harm's way.

घोणस हा भारतातील सर्वात भीतीदायक साप समजला जातो, अनेकदा घोणस सापाची डूरक्या घोणस आणि अजगर ह्या बिनविषारी सापांशी गल्लत केली जाते.

घोणस किंवा कोणत्याही विषारी सापाचा दंश झाल्यास त्वरित वैद्यकीय मदत घेणे अत्यंत आवश्यक असते.

अशा स्थितीत मांत्रिक, बाबा, बुवा किंवा गावठी उपायांच्या फंदात पडल्यास योग्य उपचार मिळण्यास विलंब होतो आणि त्यात ह्या सापाच्या हिमोटॉक्सिक ( रक्तपेशी आणि रक्ताभिसरण संस्थेवर आघात करणारे ) विषामुळे दंश झालेल्या भागावर सूज येते, रक्ताच्या गुठळ्या होणे सुरू होते, रक्तदाब कमी होतो आणि अंतर्गत रक्तस्त्राव होऊन मृत्यू होण्याची शक्यता अधिक असते.

असे प्रसंग टाळण्यासाठी साप ओळखणे फार महत्त्वाचे ठरते.

The Russell's Viper is perhaps the most feared snake in India, often mistaken for other non-venomous species like Common Sand Boa and Indian Rock Python.

It is important to seek immediate medical attention if bitten by Russell's Viper or any other venomous snake.

Do not seek help from any witch doctors or fall for any home remedies, it'll only cause a delay in getting the necessary medical attention, as its hemotoxic venom can cause severe symptoms like swelling, blisters at the site of bite. Bleeding, drop in blood pressure and if proper medical aid is not taken it can result in death.

Education and identification are keys in avoiding encounters with this dangerous snake.

If you see this snake anywhere near your surroundings and premises, maintain a safe distance and contact us to safely rescue it and release it back into the wild.

भारतीय नाग हा भारतामधल्या विषारी सापांपैकी सर्वाधिक लोकांच्या संपर्कात येणारा विषारी साप आहे.
हिंदू धर्मामध्ये नागाला अनन्यसाधारण महत्व दिले जाते त्याच बरोबर त्याबद्दल अनेक अख्यायिका आहेत.

नाग दूध पितो ह्या भाबड्या अंधश्रद्धेपोटी काही लोक नागपंचमीला गारुड्याने ने आणलेल्या नागाला दुधाचा नैवेद्य अर्पण करतात.
पण वास्तविक दूध हे नागाचे नैसर्गिक अन्न नाही आणि जरी बळजबरीने तो ते प्यायलाच तरी त्यामुळे तो मरण पावतो.
नाग बाळगणारे गारुडी त्यापासून काहीएक धोका होऊ नये म्हणून निर्दयीपणे नागाच्या विषग्रंथी आणि दात काढतात किंवा त्याचे तोंड शिवतात. नागपंचमी ला आपण पूजत असलेले हे सर्व नाग २-४ दिवसांत मृत्यूमुखी पडतात.
नाग हा वन्यजीव संरक्षण अधिनियम, १९७२ अंतर्गत संरक्षित आहे.

In India, Spectacled Cobra is the most commonly encountered venomous snake; it also has sacred significance in Hindu Mythology.

Snake charmers often exhibit Cobras to large crowds on ‘Naag Panchami’ where these snakes are offered milk in the belief that they will drink it. But in reality, snakes cannot digest milk and even if they do, they’ll eventually die.
The venom glands and fangs are brutally removed by snake charmers to render them harmless; for this, they even sew the Cobra’s mouth at times. The Cobra snake is protected under Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

४० फूट खोल विहिरीत पडलेल्या नागाला जीवदान!

"संघटन मजबूत असेल आणि हेतू स्वच्छ असेल तर अशक्य वाटणाऱ्या गोष्टीही सहज साध्य करता येतात असं म्हणतात.."

काही दिवसांपूर्वी एक पाच फुटाचा नाग एका ४० फुट खोल विहिरीत पडला होता. आम्हाला सदर गोष्टीची कल्पना दोन दिवसांनंतर समजली, त्वरित आमची टीम तेथे पोहोचली. विहीर खोल होती आणि फार जुनी असल्याने तिचे बांधकाम ढासळत होते. विचारविनिमय करून साप आणि खाली जाणारा कार्यकर्ता ह्या दोघांच्या जीविताला काही धोका उत्पन्न होणार नाही अशी योजना आखून त्या नागाची सुखरूप सुटका कशी करण्यात आली ते व्हिडिओ बघून आपणास कळेलच!

नागाची प्राथमिक तपासणी करून तो जखमी अथवा आजारी नसल्याची खात्री होताच त्याला पुन्हा त्याच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले.

It is true that teamwork is at the heart of great achievement.
A few days back, our team rescued a 5 feet Spectacled Cobra that had fallen in 40 feet well. It had been there for a couple of days before we were informed about it.
Once we got to know about it, we assembled our team and equipment whilst formulating a strategy to get the Cobra out securely and also without any mishaps as the well was old and in very bad shape.

Once it was made sure that the Cobra wasn't injured, it was deemed to be fit and was released back into the wild.

नेहमी प्रमाणे मार्च महिना सुद्धा आमच्या साठी व्यस्त होता. हवेतला वाढलेला उष्मा आणि अनेक सापांचा मिलनकाळ ह्यामुळे सापांचे मनुष्यवस्ती आसपास दिसण्याचे प्रमाण हळू वाढू लागले आहे. ह्या महिन्यात आम्ही ७९ निरनिराळ्या जातीचे साप आणि त्या सोबत ३ पक्ष्यांना देखील जीवदान दिले. या मध्ये ३८ नाग, ६ घोणस, एक फुरसे, २५ धामण ३ दिवड,३ डूरक्या घोणस,२ तस्कर आणि एक रुखई. आणि पक्ष्यांमध्ये एक खंड्या एक घुबड आणि एक पोपट यांना निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यात मुक्त केले.
आपल्या आसपास जर एखादा वन्य प्राणी पक्षी किंवा साप आढळल्यास किंवा त्यांना मदतीची गरज असल्यास आम्हाला संपर्क करा.

In the month of March, we've successfully rescued 79 snakes and 3 birds that include 38 Spectacled Cobras, 6 Russell's Vipers, a Saw scaled Viper, 25 Rat Snakes, 3 Checkered Keelback, 3 Sandboas, 2 Montane Trinkets, and a Bronzeback Tree Snake along with a Kingfisher, a Scops Owl, and a red ring-necked parrot.

धामण हा साप आपल्या रायगड जिल्ह्यात सर्वात जास्त लोकांच्या संपर्कात येणारा साप आहे. सर्पमित्रांना रेस्क्यु कॉलवर धामण सापडण्याचे प्रमाण सरासरी ४५% एवढे आहे.
धामण पूर्णपणे बिनविषारी असून मनुष्यप्राण्यांसाठी तो अजिबात धोकादायक नाही. धामण हा साप आपल्या परिसरात असल्यास होणारे फायदे वेळोवेळी समजाऊन सांगितल्यामुळे हल्ली त्यांना लोकांच्या घराजवळ मुक्त करण्यास अलिबाग चे रहिवासी अनुमती देऊ लागले आहेत.
हो गोष्ट प्रथमदर्शनी जरी लहान वाटत असली तरी त्याचे होणारे परिणाम दूरगामी आहेत. ह्याचा निसर्ग आणि वन्यप्राणी ह्यांच्या सोबत सहजीवन ही संकल्पना जनसामान्यांच्या मनावर रुजविण्यास नक्कीच फायदा होईल.

Rat snake or Dhaman as it is popularly called is one of the common snakes encountered by the people of Raigad. The rate of encountering Rat Snakes on rescue calls is around 45%.

Most of the time, after educating people about the advantages of having the Rat Snake in their surroundings and telling them that it is completely harmless to humans, the people are comfortable letting us release the snake in their backyards or premises.

This notion has a small role but a much greater impact as it is one of our significant aims and that is to promote coexistence.

या फेब्रुवारी महिन्यामध्ये आम्ही १० वेगवेगळ्या जातीच्या ५९ सापांचां सुरक्षितपणे बचाव करून त्यांना पुन्हा त्यांच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात सोडून दिले.
यामध्ये २२ नाग, ३ घोणस, १ पाणसाप (दीवड),१९ धामण साप, ३ कुकरी, ६ कवड्या,१ डूरक्या घोणस आणि एक ब्रम्हिणी वाळा यांचा समावेश आहे.
तसेच त्यासोबत आम्ही एक खंड्या (किंगफिशर) पक्ष्याला देखील जीवदान दिले.
जर तुमच्या आसपास वन्यप्राणी,पक्षी किंवा साप आढळले ज्यांना आमच्या मदतीची गरज आहे अश्या प्रसंगी जरूर आम्हाला संपर्क करा.

In the month of February 2023, we've competently completed 59 rescues which include 10 different species of snakes and a bird.
(22 Spectacled Cobras, 3 Russell's Vipers, a Saw Scaled Viper, 19 Rat Snakes, 6 Wolf Snakes, 3 Kukris, a Streaked Kukri, one Checkered Keelback, and a Sand Boa, a Brahminy Blind Snake, and a Kingfisher bird).

शनिवार दिनांक ११ फेब्रुवारी रोजी JSM महाविद्यालय येथे वाइल्डलाइफ वॉरियर्स ऑफ अलिबाग तर्फे विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी सर्प आणि निसर्गासोबत सहजीवन ह्यावर कार्यशाळा घेण्यात आली. सापांच्या बद्दल शास्त्रीय माहिती,
अलिबाग आणि भोवतालच्या परिसरात आढळणारे साप तसेच सर्पदंश कसे टाळावेत आणि सर्पदंश झाल्यास करावयाच्या उपाययोजना ह्यावर सखोल विश्लेषण करण्यात आले.

After receiving a warm welcome from the J.S.M. College’s students and faculties, we commenced with our ‘Snake Awareness Workshop’. The basic aim of taking the workshop was to introduce the students to the types of snakes we encountered on an everyday basis and why it is necessary to understand the importance of co-existence to lessen or avoid human-animal conflicts.

In the said workshop Dr. Prasad Dabholkar, Omkar Kamtekar, and Aditi Sagar presented through a PowerPoint presentation; Wildlife Warriors of Alibag volunteers Paras Gharat, Sujit Lad, and Sameer Palkar were also present.

The workshop began with an Introduction to WWA which was put across by Aditi Sagar. Further, Dr. Prasad Dabholkar educated the students about the Natural History of Snakes, followed by a session on the identification of common snakes found in and around Alibag taken by Omkar Kamtekar. Along with this, we also informed the audience about how to avoid snakebites and the measures to be taken in case of snakebites.

The workshop was concluded after a very interactive Q&A session.

साप हे थंड रक्ताच्या प्राण्यांमध्ये मोडतात. म्हणजेच ते त्यांच्या शरीराचे तापमान स्वतः नियंत्रित करू शकत नाहीत, त्यासाठी त्यांना बाह्यस्त्रोतांवर अवलंबून राहावे लागते.

हालचाल करणे, भक्ष मिळविणे, त्याचे व्यवस्थित पचन होणे इत्यादी गोष्टींसाठी लागणारी ऊर्जा त्यांना सूर्यप्रकाश आणि तत्सम बाह्य ऊर्जास्त्रोतांकडून घ्यावी लागते. थंडीच्या दिवसांत तापमान कमी असल्याने त्यांना पुरेसा सूर्यप्रकाश मिळत नाही त्यामुळे त्यांना ऊर्जेची बचत करणे आवश्यक ठरते, याचमुळे थंडीच्या दिवसात सापांच्या हालचालींवर लक्षणीय परिणाम दिसून येतो. केवळ सकाळच्या वेळात उन्हात काही काळ ते सक्रिय दिसतात परंतु तेही फक्त ऊब मिळविण्या पुरते! घोणस सापांचा हा प्रजननकाळ असल्यामुळे ते मात्र ह्याकाळात चांगलेच सक्रिय असतात.

ह्या जानेवारी महिन्यात आम्हाला एकूण ६३ साप व एका गव्हाणी घुबडाची यशस्वीपणे सुटका करता आली. सापांमध्ये १८ नाग, १२ घोणस, २१ धामण, ३ दीवड, ३ कवड्या, ३ डूरक्या घोणस, २ रुखाई, १ पहाडी तस्कर ह्या प्रजातींचा समावेश होता.

Snakes are ectothermic animals, also known as cold-blooded animals which means they depend upon the temperature of their environment to regulate their body temperature.

Snakes are less active in the cooler months because they will be lethargic due to cold temperatures.But when the cold spell is interrupted by a warm day, snakes venture out to bask in the sun and warm up their body temperature.
Snakes derive energy from external source for their movement, digestion and other activities; therefore, when the external temperature is low their activity decreases and vice versa.

In the month of January, our rescuers successfully completed 64 rescues. Including 18 Spectacled Cobras,
12 Russell's Vipers, 21 Rat Snakes, 3 Checkered Keelbacks, 3 Wolf Snakes, 3 Common Sand Boas, 2 Bronzeback Tree Snakes and a Montane Trinket, along with a Barn Owl.

अलिबाग मुरुड मेडिकल असोसिएशन (AMMA) तर्फे अलिबाग शहरातील डॉ. प्रसाद दाभोळकर यांना 'The Legends Award' देऊन गौरवण्यात आले.
डॉ प्रसाद दाभोळकर त्यांच्या वैद्यकीय सेवेबरोबर निसर्ग व प्राणी मित्र म्हणून ओळखले जातात. ते लोकवस्तीमधे आलेल्या साप किंवा इतर वन्यप्राण्यांना सुरक्षितरित्या पकडुन पुन्हा त्यांच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात सोडण्याचे कार्य गेली अनेक वर्षे करत आहेत. सदर वन्यप्राणी जखमी अथवा आजारी असल्यास त्यांच्यावर उपचार करून मगच त्यांना सोडण्यात येते. तसेच वन्यप्राण्यांच्या सोबत सहजीवनाचा प्रसार करण्यासाठी अनेक व्याख्याने शाळा, महाविद्यालये, वनविभाग आणि सामान्यजनतेसाठी ते घेत आहेत.

४ वर्षांपूर्वी त्यांनी वाईल्ड लाईफ वॉरियर्स ऑफ अलिबाग (WWA) ह्या संघटनेची स्थापना केली, ज्यात आज २५ पेक्षा जास्त सक्रिय कार्यकर्ते असून ते वन्यप्राणी बचावाचे आणि प्रबोधनाचे कार्य अतिशय प्रामाणिकपणे आणि निष्ठेने करत आहेत.

हा पुरस्कार प्रसिद्ध प्लास्टिक सर्जन डॉ. नितीन मोकल ह्यांच्या हस्ते देण्यात आला. ह्या प्रसंगी मा. आमदार महेंद्रशेट दळवी, AMMA चे अध्यक्ष डॉ. गणेश गवळी, डॉ. प्रणाली पाटील, डॉ. अमित बेनकर आणि AMMA che सर्व पदाधिकारी आणि सभासद डॉक्टर्स उपस्थित होते.

Dr . Prasad Dabholkar was honored with the ‘Legend’s Award’ by Alibag Murud Medical Association (AMMA) for his contribution to the field of medicine and wildlife rescue.

For over 20 years now, he has been safely rescuing snakes, and other wild animals, that have wandered into human settlements and releasing them back into their natural habitats. If the said wild animals are injured or sick, they are treated and then later safely released.

Over the years, to promote the idea of coexistence with wild animals and to avoid human-animal conflicts, he has delivered many lectures in schools, and colleges, and has run workshops for the forest department.

4 years ago, he founded the organization ‘Wildlife Warriors of Alibag (WWA), which today has more than 25 keen rescuers who are doing the work of wildlife rescue and awareness with utmost sincerity and dedication.

The award was given by the renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Nitin Mokal. On this occasion Hon. MLA Mr. Mahendra Dalvi, AMMA President Dr. Ganesh Gawli, Dr. Pranali Patil, Dr. Amit Benkar, and other members of AMMA were present.
On behalf of WWA, we congratulate him for receiving this award and thank him for his inestimable contribution to wildlife rescue.

एके दिवशी सकाळी आम्हाला एक फोन आला की एक साप घराबाहेरील शेड च्या पाइपवर फिरत आहे. आमचे कार्यकर्ते तिथे पोहोचल्यावर त्यांनां एक मण्यार जातीचा साप (common Krait) पाइप मधून लटकतना दिसला, तो पाईप मध्ये अडकला असावा असा विचार करून त्याला काढायचा प्रयत्न करताना असे लक्षात आले की तो नुसता अडकला नसून त्याच्या पोटाचे खवले दोन पाईप मध्ये चीमटले होते.

मण्यारीचे डोके प्लास्टिकच्या बाटलीत घालून अडकलेला भाग आम्ही लहान करवतीने कापायचा प्रयत्न केला पण तो निष्फळ ठरला.

सरतेशेवटी वेल्डरचे काम करणाऱ्या व्यक्तीस शोधून त्यांना पाचारण केले, परंतु सकाळची वेळ असल्याने त्यांना यायला साधारण पाऊण तास गेला. ह्या मधल्या वेळात सापाला शेडवर उचलून ठेवले जेणे करून त्याच्या मणक्यावर ताण पडणार नाही, तसेच त्याला तणावमुक्त ठेवण्यासाठी आणि उन्हापासून संरक्षण होण्याच्या दृष्टीने त्याच्या शरीरावर ओला फडका ठेवण्यात आला.

वेल्डर येताच पुन्हा सापाचे डोके प्लास्टिकच्या बाटलीत टाकून त्याला उष्णता आणि ठीणग्यांचा त्रास होऊ नये म्हणून ओल्या फडक्यात गुंडाळले. वेल्डर ने पाईप चे टाके कापताच सापाला त्वरित सोडविण्यात आले आणि सुरक्षितणे कापडी पिशवीत ठेवण्यात आले.

नंतर मण्यारीची तपासणी करून, तिला काही इजा झाली नसल्याची खात्री होताच, तिला तिच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले.

One morning, we got a call saying someone had spotted a snake on a shed outside their bungalow.

When our rescuers reached on the spot, an adult Indian Common Krait was seen hanging from a vertical metal pipe that supports the shed, possibly stuck in there. On closer inspection, we noticed that the snake wasn't only stuck but pinched between the welding of two pipes.

We tried to manoeuvre the snake to free it, but it was badly pinched and couldn't move an inch. Securing the head with the help of a plastic bottle, we tried to cut the joint by hacksaw, but it turned to be futile.

After a quick council, a fabricator was called, but it took around 45 minutes for him to come as it was early morning. In the meantime, Krait was kept over the shed to support it and water was sprayed over it to keep it hydrated and its head was covered with a cloth to keep it stress free.

Once the fabricator came, the snake’s head was again secured by a bottle and a wet cloth was wrapped around its exposed body to shield it from heat and sparks. The fabricator cut the metal joints using the grinder and the shed was lifted to free the snake, which was later promptly bagged.

After a detailed examination it was found the snake wasn't hurt, it was released back in to the wild later that night.

A few nights ago, we had a rescue mission involving a checkered keelback snake, locally known as Divad in Marathi. This adventurous snake decided to explore a house, making its way up a flight of stairs when it was spotted. The residents kept a watchful eye on the snake until we arrived. Checkered keelbacks are notorious for their feisty nature, and this one was no different. It put up quite a fuss during our rescue attempt. We noticed it had recently devoured a toad, so we carefully and quickly handled and bagged it to prevent any stress-induced regurgitation. Once safely secured, we promptly released the snake back into its natural habitat, ensuring it could continue its journey in the wild.

A frantic call came in - a massive, six-foot Spectacled Cobra had scaled a tree, leaving the locals on edge. Our team arrived on the scene to find the cobra perched high in the branches. With a strategic plan in place, the rescuers carefully maneuvered to bring the cobra down. The locals, filled with nervous anticipation, watched the drama unfold. Finally, the cobra was safely secured and, with no time to waste, released back into its natural habitat.

काही दिवसांपूर्वी आम्हाला एका रस्ते बांधकामाच्या ठिकाणी, गरम डांबरावर चिकटलेल्या एका नागाच्या सुटकेसाठी फोन आला होता. त्या नागाच्या संपूर्ण शरीरावर डांबर चिकटल्यामुळे तो पूर्ण भाजलेला व अत्यंत हलाखीच्या अवस्थेत होता. माहिती मिळताच क्षणाचाही विलंब न करता आमचे कार्यकर्ते तिथे पोचले आणि नागाला डांबरातून मोकळे केले त्यानंतर त्याची प्राथमिक आरोग्य तपासणी करून पुढील उपचारासाठी पुण्याला रवाना केले. थोड्याच दिवसात, पूर्णतः तंदुरुस्त झालेल्या नागाला त्याच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले. अत्यंत गंभीर अवस्थेतील नागाची योग्य वेळेत मिळालेल्या उपचारांमुळे अगदी अशक्य वाटलेली अशी सुधारणा होऊन त्याला पुन्हा निसर्गामध्ये विहार करता येणे हे सर्पमित्रांचे निसर्गाशी असलेल्या बांधिलकीचे लक्षण आहे! ह्यात मोलाचा हातभार लावणाऱ्या ResQ team तसेच वन विभा

४० फूट खोल विहिरीत पडलेल्या नागाला जीवदान! "संघटन मजबूत असेल आणि हेतू स्वच्छ असेल तर अशक्य वाटणाऱ्या गोष्टीही सहज साध्य करता येतात असं म्हणतात.." काही दिवसांपूर्वी एक पाच फुटाचा नाग एका ४० फुट खोल विहिरीत पडला होता. आम्हाला सदर गोष्टीची कल्पना दोन दिवसांनंतर समजली, त्वरित आमची टीम तेथे पोहोचली. विहीर खोल होती आणि फार जुनी असल्याने तिचे बांधकाम ढासळत होते. विचारविनिमय करून साप आणि खाली जाणारा कार्यकर्ता ह्या दोघांच्या जीविताला काही धोका उत्पन्न होणार नाही अशी योजना आखून त्या नागाची सुखरूप सुटका कशी करण्यात आली ते व्हिडिओ बघून आपणास कळेलच! नागाची प्राथमिक तपासणी करून तो जखमी अथवा आजारी नसल्याची खात्री होताच त्याला पुन्हा त्याच्या नैसर्गिक अधिवासात मुक्त करण्यात आले. नेहमी प्रमाणे मार्च महिना सुद्धा आमच्या साठी व्यस्त होता. हवेतला वाढलेला उष्मा आणि अनेक सापांचा मिलनकाळ ह्यामुळे सापांचे मनुष्यवस्ती आसपास दिसण्याचे प्रमाण हळू वाढू लागले आहे. ह्या महिन्यात आम्ही ७९ निरनिराळ्या जातीचे साप आणि त्या सोबत ३ पक्ष्यांना देखील जीवदान दिले. या मध्ये ३८ नाग, ६ घोणस, एक फुरसे, २५ धामण ३ दिवड,३ डूरक्या घोणस,२ तस्कर आणि एक रुखई. आणि पक्ष्यांमध्ये एक खंड्या एक घुबड आणि एक पोपट यांना निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यात मुक्त केले. आपल्या आसपास जर एखादा वन्य प्राणी पक्षी किंवा साप आढळल्यास किंवा त्यांना मदतीची गरज असल्यास आम्हाला संपर्क करा.
