late lala shiv ram dass was a well educated person.he used to speak english so fluently.he started his career from a small shopkeeper ,but he became a top most trader in punjab and a wel known personality through out india in his trrde.he was well known among british people because of his personality and grip over english language.he established a big busines empire with his great vision and hard
working.he also started a branch office in jarhaanwala(now in pakistan),he sent his elder son sh.melaram to jarhaanwala to manage the business.lala shiv ram dass was infact a person of multifaceted personality.he used to organise so many tournaments of volleyball,basket ball,badminton etc.infact,he himself was a good player of badminton.he was associted with so many welfare societies and remained active member till his death.he was born on the day of shivratri in 1889 and expired on 6th june 1984.he lived for almost hundred years.he lived a lavished life.he owned a victoria driven by two horses,which was owned by only ten rich people in amritsar city.he had two sons,sh mela ram and sh roshan lal was younger son ,very few people know that he was awarded a gold medal by the british empire for the best desi ghee trader in punjab.he was very close to get the honour of rai bahadur,once he also edited a newspaper,he had a good quality of time management.he was always very concious about his health.he was fond of reading books.he had rare books in his book shelf.now his business is being looked after by his grandson sh.dharambir and greatgrandson puneet.we alwys follow his guidelines in business and in our lives.there is a saying that one who dies ,becomes a star in the sky and watches and blesses his family from heaven and this is our belief that our family is being blessed by him from heaven.we are commited that his name remains forever in this world like sun in the sky.i forgot to add his main achievement;he representd the punjab state in 1932 in shimla,a ghee conference of all india traders was organised in shimla in 1932 and he was among so many dignatries.he also participated in freedom struggle.he was the survivor of jallianwala massacre in 1919.he used to narrate us how he escaped from there.he told that he hid himself under the dead bodies and when british threw the dead bodies,the he ran and jumped from even three storeyed buildings to save his life.he provided shelter to so many refugees after partition,there is endless stories about that legend.
