These chirpers are our Rufous treepies that were rescued as fledglings! They are beginning to make a successful comeback in their habitat at PfA and are another rescue marvel.
They started their journey in a small habitat being fed worms and pedigree. Now, they have been transferred to a bigger space with the addition of chicken and fruit to their daily diets. Although they are still in the process of rehabilitation there is no doubt, they will be fully fit and fine soon enough. We are grateful for all the contributions that have facilitated their recovery 🙏🏼

The sunbird is a very adaptable animal that lives both in the wild and in urban areas. They can be seen in savannahs, alpine forests, coastal forests, and tropical rainforests. Sunbirds also live in man-made settings like agricultural areas, plantations, and gardens. They are excellent pollinators and are harmless to people.
Sunbirds mostly live in pairs or very small groups. They occasionally appear by themselves as well. They can become highly territorial during the breeding season, and they defend their nests with their companions.

How does PfA Wildlife Rescue & Conservation Centre help our wildlife and how can you?
As you all know, Bangalore has been expanding at a very high rate. There has been unplanned urbanization and as a result of this, there is huge displacement of the urban wildlife. We get lots of calls of mammals, birds, reptiles being displaced.
We have a strong rescue division of five rescuers and seven vehicles comprising of four wheelers and two wheelers. We get information from the citizenry of Bangalore about injured animals and birds and we go, rescue the animal immediately. If the animal is healthy, we release it back in a similar habitat or if it is a young animal, injured or electrocuted, we bring it back to the conservation centre and the process of recovery and rehabilitation takes place and we finally release it back into the wild. The rescue is completely free unless you want to voluntarily donate, otherwise it is free so please come forward and give us the information. Even saving one life gives us a huge amount of satisfaction!
