An information on Bird Cages
There are many types of the cages in the world,
We should know what type of birds we have and what type of cage is suitable for them,
First of all we should know the basic types of the cages, for which purpose we use the cage that is more important,
1, pet cages,
2 breeding cages,
3, holding cages,
4, aviaries
Each and every species of birds need different type cage,
1 :- Pet cage
In general many of us keep a single bird as a companion, spices including Cockatiel, Ring neck, Conure, Gray parrot, Cockatoo, Macaw, all of them various personality, so cockatiel need min. cages size would be 18x18x24 Inch L.B.H. for Ring neck and Conure 24x24x30, for Gray parrot 24x24x36 for Cockatoo 30x30x36, and for Macaw 36x36x60, if your bird spend some hours out of the cage. They need some mentally & physically activity too, so for that you can hang some toys or even you can hang some veg. & fruits too on the top, so they‘ll rally enjoy it,
2 :- Breeding cages
If you keep birds in pairs they can breed too, so if you want to breed them, you need Min. dabble size cage, let’s start with budgie, they need Min. 24x18x18 with outside breeding box, Albs also can be bred in this size cages,
Cockatiel and Bourke’s parrot, Red rump, small conure like Green cheek 30x18x24 with outside box,
Sun conure, Rosella need 36x24x24 with outside breeding box, gray parrot need 48x24x36,
For finches they need min. spaces to breed, but we should give them min. 24x18x18 inch, for a pair, with inside the box, or small clay pot,
3 :- Holding cages
Holding cages means if you are a breeder you may hold some of your chicks for next season, or you also need when you give rest your bird from breeding or you buy new birds, you must have holding cage for them, you should not keep them with your breeding birds, so the size of this type of holding cages depends on spices. Bigger is the Best.
4 :- Aviaries
Aviary depends on spices of the birds, aviary also can be used as multiple use like for colony breeding of small birds e.g. budgie, finches, lovebirds, conures, cockatiels,
Aviary can be used for resting birds, flight for holding birds,
Basically aviary is using for large bird breeding, like gray parrot, cockatoo, eclectus, amazon, and macaws..
The size and the interior is also depends on the purpose of the aviary
