B.C.B.Reddy, an Engineer by profession has always been passionate about farming with a strong stress on traditional farming techniques. He realised his passion when he started Venus Farms in Zamin Endathur Village in Madurantakam since 1987. The farm is spread over 200 acres of Mango, Gooseberry, Cashew, Coconut and Jack Fruit. Paddy and some pulses are cultivated for personal consumption of his e

xtended family and the employees of the Farm. The Farm supports over 75 families during the fruit bearing season and 20 full-time staff and their families throughout the year. Many charitable Institutions and Schools for special children are given mangoes for free every year. Reddy implemented his vision of traditional farming methods (now termed as Organic) despite the numerous commercial hurdles as such methods were a rarity 25 years ago. His visionary approach and zeal has delivered results in the quality of the Mangoes and other fruits that are produced. The farm also has native cows fed on organic fodder and the urine and dung are used extensively in treating the soil and producing the organic manure. Among the three fruits Tamil literature sings paens on Mangoes holds the pride of place and it pushes the memory of dreary summers in the background. Venus Farms grows Banganapalli and Imampasandh and these are distinct for the following reasons:

• Grown on soil enriched with Jeevamirtham, Panchakavyam and Vermicompost.
• Fruits are plucked only when they are matured and attained a semi-ripe state and this increases the Glucose content as a result of the longer duration the fruit is in the tree.
• Naturally ripened fruits have mild dots, scratches and pores consequent to the biological process of maturing in the tree unlike the fruits in the market that are plucked when young and still raw. Raw mangoes have a smooth skin and the same when ripened using chemicals will continue to have the smooth skin with no obvious pores and dots.
• Mangoes have a combination of mild yellow and green colour as they are ripened naturally. Chemically induced ripening results in bright yellow tone of the skin and also ensures it is uniform giving an impression of a flawless fruit. The adage "All that glitters is not gold" holds most true to mangoes that are ripened chemically. Several celebrities including Actor Parthiban & Agriculture Consultant Dr.Lakshmanan claim that the Imampasand and Banganapalli from Venus Farms are the best that they have tasted in a long time. Our mangoes are packed in sturdy 5 kg box suitable for Corporate and personal gifts.
