Strawberry Update: 8 march 2021
Fruits are now half grown and will be ready for harvest in a week. Initially the growth of the plant was slow due to late sowing followed by frost and fog.
Vermicompost was added in soil only once right before flowering. Spray of diluted panchgavya is given every 15 days.

Egg plant update: 23 June 2021
These white long egg plant variety was planted in early April. First harvest took 42 days to come and second batch is now ready after 50 days of seed sowing.
No special fertilizer was introduced to egg plants. These were planted alongside cucumbers and beans. Folic spray of panchgavya from was done every 10th day. No pesticides were applied.

Italian basil samplings are ready for transplant after 18 days of seed sowing.
This season we are experimenting with companion plantation. Tomatoes, bell peppers, brinjal and green chill we will grow these basil plants.

First sprouts of summer vegetables are now here. We have sown desi variety of gourds, cucumber and okra on 15th March 2021(6 days back).
Herbs like mint (pudina), Italian basil, lemon balm etc. are also sown. Updates on the same shall follow in upcoming posts.

First batch of heirloom tomato is here. Seeds were sown in mid October and first flowers were appeared in mid January.
Smaller than usual mid sized desi tomatos and tastes more like rasberry. Great for salads and raw chutnies.

Lettuce Update: 18 Jan 2020
Among 8 types of lettuce that we grow, romaine has the most thick leaves with slightly bitter hint. This one may not be the best treat for taste buds but is the easiest to grow with almost no care or special attention.
We sow mix variety of lettuces in large containers in all purpose soil mix. During winters these grow in 30 to 45 days and can be harvested 3 to 5 times in a life cycle of 3 months.

Seeds were sown in late October and here we are with carrot plants grown to its early stage.
Saplings were transplanted to main containers after 20 days of seed germination. No fertilizer except vermicompost every 15 days is given to the plant. Soon diluted seaw**d will be introduced to fulfill plant's potassium need.

Cauliflower Update : 06 Nov 2020
After 20 days this is how our cauliflower a.k.a gobhi plantation looks like. This time we have planted gobhi, broccoli, radish etc. in individual grow bags. Nourished with all purpose soil mix and sea w**d spray every 12 days.
Last season we planted winter veggies into large terrace garden tubs and results were fabulous. The only down side was pest management. Which was really not easy to handle in large containers.

Drumstick Update : 04 Sept 2020
Finally managed to procure heirloom drumstick or moringa a.k.a sehjan seeds. A kind farmer from Karnataka send us these who has been collecting and saving indigenous variety of seeds and distributing it to farmers.
We hope for timely germination of seeds and save our seeds from now on. Every part of moringa plant is useful. Leaves dried and turned to powder used as immunity booster, drumsticks for sambhar, stems and roots is a superfood for cattle.
