Dachshund Information
Red Color

Red colored Dachshund are brownish, some may be yellowish or lighter and some may be darker with a shade of black.
It is a Dominant color gene referred to as “A” gene. Dachshund only need one A gene to produce a red color. If a Dog has two A gene it will only produce a red puppy.
Red Dachshund will always have a black nose and nails.

Darth is the father of both Logan and Kylo from a different Dam
Kylo’s mother was a longhaired black and tan
As you can see you can produce a Longhaired puppy as long as both Dam and Sire carries the longhair recessive gene.

Logan’s mother was a shorthaired solid chocolate
Since the Red color gene is a dominant color the puppies that were produced were 3 solid black and 1 solid red. No chocolate color and no piebald pattern were produced since these are recessive genes.
