IndieLove believes in the idea that all dogs are deserving of love, no matter if it is a “breed” dog or an Indian one. Indian dogs are hardy, adaptable, intelligent, and excellent companions to any individual or family! They have been misunderstood and are frequently looked down upon, and IndieLove hopes to change that perception. There are many souls that animal welfare workers realize they canno

t help directly, but do not wish to ignore as they are in need. What we aim to provide is a home for all those kids that need help. IndieLove supports rescuers who work for the benefit of animals in a sustainable and well thought out manner, and works towards helping them. Those who want to show their love for all dogs can visit our dog park and café. We have over 100 dogs at our facility in Gurgaon, all ready to give you some love and licks! IndieLove is conceptualized and run by Sunil Kaushik.

This Janmashtami Indroducing our Little Kanha, Gulab Jamun aka Gulla 🧿Gulab Jamun came to us as a 30 days old pup, when he was found permanently paralysed without any known cause. In the last 8 months, he has become our son instead. We are very protective of him. The chance of a Paralysed puppy living a good life is rare and hence we decided to adopt him as our own. Gulla had to undergo two surgeries in the last few months: 1 leg amputation and a pe**le amputation. He might need others in the future. But he has an Amazing life. People and vets would generally suggest euthanizing such a puppy because they wonder for how long will we be able to care for a dog like this? For how long will we have patience? And our answer is- forever. If taking care of them gives them a happy life like that if Gulab Jamun, we are ready to work 24*7 give them that life. Gulab Jamun is hardly seen in the common park because we don't leave him unsupervised anywhere, but on rare occasions, he graces the common public with his appearance.Leave some words of love for Gulab Jamun in our comments!

I don’t like posting about my health and personal information like this but when rescuers keep bringing up their personal issues for months, one after another and leave me stranded, what am I supposed to do?

I resorted to fundraising. Tried funny videos, catchy reels, stories of rescues and before-afters to convince people to help me but let’s accept that I can’t urge people to donate to me.

I shouldn’t have to ask for donations because these rescue kids were supposed be the responsibility of the rescuer while I take care of the operational expenses. I have multiple of my own rescues and adopted animals who are not receiving adequate attention because I’m busy juggling fosters of rescuers who think I am the only one with a perfect life and my problems do not matter in front of theirs.

I have always tried to accommodate people and that’s why I still have the same fosters despite pending payment of 6-10 months at a time. I’ve multiple rescues or long term rescues from people like .maa .yoga and so many others who are not on Instagram and they are a proof that I have helped in my capacity whenever I can and loved their rescues and never judged their circumstances whenever there has been any.

What am I supposed to do? For how long do I keep sacrificing? I don’t mind sacrificing for animals, as I have sacrificed my passion, personal life, family and dreams for it. But, how will I keep sacrificing when it comes to my health? If I’m not there at the end of the day because of all the sacrifices, then who is going to look after the animals? How long till IndieLove is shut down because I decided to openly do welfare instead of just focusing on fostering and a few rescues?

I have around 300 animals that I take care of full time, out of which about 120 are totally unsponsored and being cared for by me at my expense. Sometimes I raise funds for them and fail, and mostly I try to put the money from the foster fee towards their care.
When you rescue a kid and send him or her to me, you enter a clear contract with me: either I'm in a position to care for the kid on my own and the kid will become a part of Indielove Welfare Foundation or I don't have the money to take care of it and if you send the kid, he/she will be a part of Indielove Foster Care.
At no point do I intend to do the unethical and raise money for a kid who's under my foster care.

However, the kind of attitude that we get from people who simply wonder why they have to pay for a dog, as if we get food, medicines and vet visits for free is astounding. I don't charge for basic medications, transport to and from the vet, at home drips and dressing, sometimes I charge less from rescuers who I know are struggling, sometimes I don't ask for payments for 9-10 months to accommodate someone's emergency.
But while accommodating everyone, no one cares to make accommodations for my kids.

It's easy to send a dog for your "good karma" and "superficial empathy" when in reality you're doing nothing for the dog. You're not feeding, medicating or living 24*7 with him, change his p*e pads day and night, all while trying to figure a way to pay his bills. I am doing it and I am the one facing the burnt of your attitude as if I am on the government's payroll.

I am an individual entity and no one is entitled to my services. If you can't pay, then I'll take the kid depending on my financial capability to pay for it. If you can pay, then I will take the kid depending on space and a guarantee of payment. You go to sleep and forget about the kid you sent and have the audacity to talk this way to someone who's working hard to provide for them.
If you can't pay for 1 kid and pretend I am the villain to ask for his payment, then remember this villain also has 120 (+ the kids you refuse to pay for) cared for on his own calibre.

Despite repeated appeals, most of the rescuers who owe us foster fees have refused to dignify us with an estimate date by which they can clear their dues or even respond to our appeals. It’s amazing how we are supposed to make space for them but they can’t show up for us when we need it, especially when the need is for their own rescues.

So, here we are asking for donations again. We’ve raised a lakh that we will be transferring to the vet soon but we are still a far away from our goals as you can see from the fundraiser link in our bio.
To donate, you can use the same link.

You’ll see post across all animal welfare pages today reminding you why it’s harmful to put colours on the strays this Holi, so we’ll not reiterate that.

Instead we are here to remind you that if you have too much money to waste on putting gulaal and colours on animals who don’t even understand the significance of it and are instead harmed by it, try putting that money to good use by feeding an animal on the streets or sponsoring a meal in a shelter.

There are positive ways of sharing a festival with animals too.

Happy Holi to everyone

Lee, our Barbie doll version of doggo, celebrated her 7th birthday yesterday and needless to say, she had a blast.
She wore a new hoodie, accessorised it with some now, ate the best part of the cake i.e. the figurine of Lee.
Each day with Lee is a joyride because of her quirks and antics. She's an amazing singer, howling the song of her people every now and then.

Everyone please get together to wish our Leelua, choti Lalla, Lallu Pallu, Lilli Billi a very birthday 🎈

New year, New life: Adopt Aadi!

Aadi is a 2 year old, male dog who was surrendered to us when his family couldn't care for him any longer. He's healthy, vaccinated up to date and spayed.
He is friendly with other dogs and quite playful. Like all other beagles, he's food motivated and walks well on a leash.
However, he's stubborn, energetic and needs a family that is experienced in handling beagles or similarly active dogs.

If you are in Delhi NCR and wish to adopt Aadi, DM "Looking to adopt Aadi" or email [email protected] and we'll provide you the adoption form.

(Note: Beagles were bred to hunt, as they are hounds. If you're expecting to train and work with an active dog, Aadi is all yours. If you're expecting a lap dog just going by his size, you're in for a disappointment.)

May we make peace with ourselves this year, and drop the entitlement we might hold. May we respect others for their role in the world and just let people be.

Dear Santa Paws,
We've been good children this year and made it mostly to your nice list (hopefully, you're excusing the few times we were on the naughty list for chewing the bed). This year we are sending an elaborate gift list:
A. Every adoptable dog/cat in shelter gets a furr-ever home
B. Every foster gets the supplies they need
C. Every feeder's house is full of prosperity
D. Every Animal Birth Control program becomes effective (even the tardy ones by MCD)
E. Every roaming cattle on the streets is taken back home
F. A few people sponsor meals to help our daddy feed us
G. Every lost dog/cat is found again
H. Rescuers call up daddy and pay their dues
I. All pets and strays live up to ripe old age
J. The person reading this has a kind and peaceful 2024

Yours truly,
Daddy's paw children Sunil Kaushik

and Jeroninio Almeida have been instrumental in encouraging people like us to do better for the world.

When people ask me if I ever get anything for living my life for the voiceless, I can reply that I get respect from all the right people.
Rex, is recognised by the UN but has been independent, without any organisational funding, and this year the stars of the event presenting the awards were the support staff of the event, the real heroes of the night.

Thank you to my pillars of support and my parents and shelter staff.

Diwali celebrations have begun and we are starting it with Kukkur Tihar today, the famous festival we've adapted from Nepal!

As you know, we don't miss a single chance to groom and beautify our dogs and this year was no different with all our dogs getting a nice winter massage in the sun followed by garlands. Our dogs felt like they were truly gods (DOG-GOD, get it?) or celebrities and politicians.

They had extra treats after today's Puja and we hope your Diwali is as full of joy as ours!

That for just Rs. 3,000, you can sponsor a day's meal at our foster care?
This will help Cindrella and her friends save a little from their food budget that they can then use to pay for their medical expenses.

Since starting our medical expenses have increased 3x because we are focusing more on old and special needs animals, who have recurring illnesses and age related complications.

Alternatively, you can also send us a bag of kibble (DM for more details on that) or contribute a little towards our ongoing medical bills.

Hope this information urges you to help us a little!

"Who is the one spreading the rumour, 'काला अक्षर भैंस बराबर'?
Do I look black to you? Or are you stereotyping all buffalos to be black? Should a young girl like me be worried that you assume I'm uneducated?

I am an independent and fair buffalo (not that I am racist towards the buffaloes that are black) and you better not compare me in idioms related to illiteracy."

HAPPY DAUGHTER'S DAY
to the daughters we let down everyday

Today, we celebrate the daughters who never found a home, the daughters who were used and discarded once they were no more useful for breeding, to all the daughters who were rejected because they could bleed, the daughters who loved even when they didn't get a chance at a loving family.

Much like our human daughters, our animal daughters are also only loved in the society when they are capable of bringing in a profit. As a result, the desi females never get adopted and pure-bred females are adopted when someone wants to use them as a live incubator.

Our daughters are living beings who deserve better, whose life has an intrinsic value much like others. I'm lucky to have dog-daughters and cat-daughter who have filled my life with joy, by just existing. I feel for those who could never experience this happiness just because they rejected an adoption on the basis of gender, they don't know what they missed because of their description.

P.S. your female pets and community animals can (should) be spayed so that they don't undergo estrual cycles and are virtually no different from a male pet/community animal.

Not everyday is sad in a shelter but not everyday is happy either.
If you enter a shelter with any particular expectation in mind, then you're in for a disappointment. Shelter is not always full of sad disabled animals nor is it always happy healthy ones. Some days it'll smell of Bitadine and p**p and on others it might smell of nice dog shampoo and fresh grass. You'll see hairless dogs who are fresh off the streets and pure bred dogs who are leading the chill life. Sad animals doesn't mean that we don't do enough for them and happy animals don't mean that we don't need your help.

There are 100s of animals in a shelter. There's going to be both good and bad in it. Think before you judge.

The problem with the world is not that breed dogs exist. It's more so that in people's eyes, breed dogs are the only ones to exist or have the right to exist.

Bunny is my dream baby because that's how perfect he is but that doesn't mean that Judi, Lee or Jugni are not special to me. People who know me are aware of how possessive I am about these three girls, so much so that I don't let even the staff to medicate them.
When we go to the vet, people hardly stop by to greet any of the amazing Indie babies we have, yet everyone stops by to talk about Bunny and pet him.

Don't take it wrong, we love that people love him. What we don't love is when people visibly ignore the other dogs we have and solely ask about "the golden retriever"

Breed lovers are not the problem. The problem is that there are people who are 'only' breed lovers.

31/08/2023

We've recently discovered that many boardings across the city don't take kids to vets unless the parents are doing the trip themselves or that they don't do necessary tests unless the parents are pushing and begging for it. Yet, when it comes to praises, such people are perceived as more dedicated than the likes of us, who don't even shy from running to the vet at 2 o'clock at night when required. Just because we are too involved in person with each kid we have and lack volunteers, we hardly have the time or patience to show each small step of our functioning on a daily basis.

This is not to throw shade at any other organisation but it definitely is a commentary on how people are sold more by what's perceived than what's the actual.
We are struggling. Rescuers have backed out from even trying to pay a penny for kids on whom we have spent close to 60-70,000 only on veterinary care. We were lucky to have some kids pulled straight from the jaws of death 🤞🏻 and our vets deserve their due credit and payment for the same.

To help us clear medical bills, donate to the link in our bio.

26/08/2023

The last week has been a stark reminder of how devalued my work as a foster parent is. While, I've always tried to be as reasonable with my costs as possible, given people as much time as possible to pay, given rescuers grace after grace, only for the bill to be "negotiated" at the final moment. I don't mind some rescuers paying me less from the beginning because they can't afford it but I do take offense at people who promise a certain amount and then back out because they believe that I don't deserve it for my work or because it's a charity case.
Apparently since I chose to be in animal welfare I'm supposed to remain in poverty and by poverty I mean, that I am not supposed to be earning any money, make money grow on trees and pay the same to my staff who are working hard day and night.

They call it funny when I ask for my well deserved money as if they will work for free themselves. I'm not out here to make profit or buy a bungalow but the least I deserve is respect and payment of the amount that I've invested.

Apparently if you are dedicated and passionate for what you do, you have no right to ask for the promised amount. Apparently I'm supposed to trust people after this, who don't even see me as a person of equal class as them. Apparently, these people can't pay for 1 dog but I'm supposed to keep on paying for 200 dogs while simultaneously not making any money.

I wonder how they perform the mental gymnastics to remain in such cognitive dissonance!

We recently discovered the freakiest being of nature- an albino hyena! That too in Delhi
This little pup who was mistaken for a dog puppy was brought to our shelter when she was found abandoned in the outskirts of the city. However, in no time we realised that this is no ordinary pup. Upon further inspection we realised that it's not a dog at all.

Ideally we should be handing her over to the wildlife department but since she's so cute and docile, we have decided to keep her. Hope you will support us in keeping her further.

P.S. it's a fake post. She is a puppy named Jimmy.

I've always believed that grief is nothing but, a love amplified by a loss that has nowhere to go. So when people say, you'll get stronger with time, it'll hurt less with time or that you'll forget with time, what they essentially mean is that love dies with time.

But in this house, love never dies! We cherish our love for the living ones every moment and fold our dreams of the ones who left us, for the night. Sometimes, the kids we lose lived too short with us to understand what they meant but all of them, always, lived long enough for us to remember how they felt.

If my heart would be a metaphor, it would be a palace with infinite space and forest fire that never ceases to exist, all at the same time. The ache we feel for each kid we lost, can be felt through our skins to everyone who knows us personally.

There are infinite letters I can write for them, but none of them will be enough because grief, being the modified version of love it is, is endless in its existence! All that we look forward to, is for the universe to manifest that we meet the lost ones again. All of them!

Our Story

A dog is a dog no matter a breed or an Indie. They will love you, cuddle with you the same way as the breeds do. There are many kids outside who we can’t help, neither choose to ignore. Not having a place and proper medication facility is where we are lacking. We need support and help to let us help those kids who suffer on a daily basis for food, shelter and medication. All we want is a home for all those kids around who needs help. Indie love will be open to any person who rescue dogs and need help from us. I don’t want anyone to suffer the way we suffered. For those who wants to show their love for Indie can come and join us and spread love and care.

Indielove is run by Sunil Kaushik , who proudly call himself DogFather.

Our Vision

It is a harsh fact that people do often tend to abandon their dogs if at some point they find that they are unable to manage them. As a result dogs are found on roads, jungles and other similar places, without any guardian and they are often inflicted to injuries wounds and diseases . On a more serious note, it is notable that a considerable number of dogs are exploited in the name of business and commercialization which results in their suffering. Dog breeders use bi***es as a mechanic force for begetting tender ones. The former are kept in exceptionally harsh and abominable conditions. The puppies are often purchased by people and after realizing that they are more like a burden to them the little ones are left anywhere literally in an air of ‘letting them die’ .
