World Rhino Day celebration at Assam State Zoo.
The day is an annual alarm bell reminding us about the importance of spreading awareness about the need to protect and conserve all five species of rhinos.

The "UNITE FOR BIG CATS" campaign has been initiated to commemorate this occasion and raise awareness about ongoing efforts to conserve these magnificent species. As part of this initiative, we organized a Quiz Competition, Painting Competition, and Photography Competition for school students on September 15th, 2023. "Unite for Big Cats"
A nature walk around the zoo was organized to discuss the conservation of big cats. Additionally, an interactive session was conducted with the animal keepers responsible for lions, tigers, leopards, and black panthers. During this session, participants had the opportunity to learn from the keepers about their first-hand experiences and insights regarding these magnificent animals and the importance of their conservation.

Exciting News from Assam State Zoo! After a remarkable 3-decade gap, zebras have made a grand return to our zoo, bringing joy to our Zoo Family. Joining them are the delightful Mandarin ducks, making their debut appearance. Adding to the excitement, we proudly welcome a female reticulated Giraffe, sharing a habitat with zebras, just like in the wild. This momentous occasion was graced by the Hon'ble Forest Minister, Sjt. Chandra Mohan Patowary and Shri M.K. Yadava, IFS, PCCF & HoFF, Assam.
