On the occasion of 50th year of World Environment Day various activities were conducted in our zoo for 30 students of GHPS kamlapur.Program throwed light on call for global solutions to combat plastic pollution.
Planting was done in zoo premises followed by the talk on environment protection and plastics have become a ubiquitous part of human life, despite their many adverse impacts on the environment and students were compiled to say no to single use of plastic

World Environment Day was celebrated by planting saplings and sowing seeds in the zoo premises. Many volunteers from Govt PU college, kamalapura participated. An interactive session was held after that where the discussion was about serious environmental issues going on and what could be our contribution in mitigating those problems.

Under the program 'Wild ಕಲಿಕೆ', our summer camp has begun. Students could explore new side of the wildlife. There were mnay fun activities like games, wild story telling and drawing. These local students come from slothbear and leopard threat area, hence they had many true stories they saw, heard and were told about. Inspire of being in conflict, they still love wildlife and stand for their conservation. Isn't it amazing to see these young minds have already started realizing the importance of wildlife on earth??

A female sloth bear which was snared was rescued by a team from hampi zoo at Daroji bear sanctuary.

Pithecellobium dulce a forest species can be used for hedge planting.The saplings can be planted at a regular intervals with a closer spacing to form a continuous screen.This fast growing forest species is thoughtfully planned as an hedge in our zoo and planted with a care for trouble free,long lasting living fence adding its beauty to the landscape.Pithecellobium dulce can be used as an alternative for Euphorbia antiquorum,Duranta and pedilanthus .Give a try for this low maintenance and easily sculptable bush. Lice lay nits on monkeys, who are hosts, in areas where hair growth is dense because the hair conceals nits from the monkeys, who are their predators. Monkeys remove and eat nits according to nit density. Given the high intrinsic rate of natural increase in lice, monkeys need to groom daily.
