"After finally getting mom's approval for a brief moment, me and my sister brought Kookie from a foster home on 15.08.2020. She was such a tiny being and felt so fragile that I remember being hesitant to pick her up at first.

My dad didn't know that we were going to bring him his 3rd daughter and when he first saw her he only said ""You two brought her from her mother's care so be sure to be responsible and fulfil that spot""

At first both my parents were skeptical of this idea of this sudden new addition to the family but as time passed by, a lot of our daily practices had changed in accordance to our youngest sister.

Now that both me and my older sister are away from home, my mom and dad's hands are full with watching Kookie's dramebazi! 😂❤️"

Hey people! The fourth entry for pawsitive effect 2.0 is here.
"My cat padded into the room on his soft paws, entered through the door of my heart, took me by the hand, blinked slowly into my eyes… and taught me.
Taught me that I am capable of love.
He pushed me into the ocean of my love, the depths of which I was too scared to explore - but now it seems I cannot touch the floor.
If I am so willing to forgive him, if I am so willing to love him - why do I not forgive myself?

I knew myself to be a stone-cold, heartless monster - a machine. I have hurt people more than they could ever hurt me.
So I cry when I see beautiful things, knowing that I do not deserve the love of the people I love so much. Regretting not doing better.
Countless people I have lost, because I was a coward who hoped childishly that the awkward words of love I dare not speak would speak for themselves through my gaze. Through my smile. Through my playful jabs.
To the ones who never found love at all, lest they should lose it - I forgive you.

The vaccination drive held on 22nd October was successfully completed and 20 dogs were vaccinated, with the help of almost 30 eager students.
A.W.C is extremely grateful for the support and aims to achieve greater heights in the future.

Prior to the vaccination drive, a lot of people came together to put up posters throughout the campus to raise awareness and raise money for the drive, A.W.C would like to thank everyone for their active participation and for making the event such a raging success!

"So bruno was 3 days old when I saw him first. Bruno has 4 more siblings , bruno came to our home on his 42 days and it was also an auspicious day , joys and smiles filled our house, our neighbors never left our compound playing with bruno , he became everyone's favorite but as he was small he didn't have any litter (potty) training which made us a bit stressful but gradually he learnt it. Then days went on, Bruno did many things which made us excited, he is something special, he senses our emotions, he would become low if any one of us in the family is unwell, he is so active and also jealous about his street buddies . Things are moving smoothly with bruno, he searches his own happiness from my family happiness .

A little donation from your side could enable us to help these furbabies. They dont have a lot of needs but all they ask is for a little care, a generous heart.

We all know that our campus is full of strays and we need a little bit ofyour help to take care of them.

As we all know, A.W.C has been taking care of their basic nourishment, health, vaccination, neutering and emergency medical conditions for years now.

We are organizing a vaccination drive on this Saturday, 22nd october, at 10 am.

Come join us, get to know the dogs, get to know how to be actively involved in caring for them, keeping them safe.

Lila had one of those "bad" days. While coming back from work, her head was an inexplicable myriad of overwhelming thoughts - the kind of blur that words couldn't suffice. She opened the gate to her house and was instantly embraced in fur and warmth - Chikki was an indie rescue dog Lila adopted two years ago.

Animal Welfare Club , IIEST Shibpur has been taking care of the strays in campus and vaccinating them on a regular basis.
These are some pictures from our last anti-rabies vaccination drive.
Feeding the dogs regularly, sterilising them, vaccinating them is a haeavy task and we need funds. So we are always encouraging people to contribute,however much they want to, and we can assure you , however much you contribute - that will make a difference.

Dog lover or not, this campaign by AWC for the campus dogs will surely melt your heart!
AWC has been working relentlessly over the years to help give the Indie dogs in the campus a better environment to live in.It has conducted on-site first aid, vaccination camps, sterilization programmes and feeding drive.
We are glad that we are playing a part in helping a good cause. Together we can help this community in shaping a better future for the voiceless animals.

ADOPTION REQUEST!
These little babies were rescued by Ahana Mandal recently. Two of them are healthy and playful sisters at around two weeks old. The smallest one is about a week old and quite weak at the moment. Her back muscles are possibly paralyzed, so she can’t walk properly or hold her bladder yet. She can drink milk and is playful, but stays quiet and sleeps most of the time.
As the kittens are very young, they have not been vaccinated or dewormed yet.
They need a kind and caring home who can give them the love they deserve. Please spread the word and help us reach out to interested families.

"When an eighty five pound mammal licks your tears away, then tries to sit on your lap, it's hard to feel sad."

It is indeed true that a dog is a man’s best friend. Not just dogs, infact, all pet animals are a person’s true companion. Most pet owners can feel it everyday, sharing their lives with companion animals provides them satisfaction and happiness. However most of us are unaware of the mental health benefits these furry friends can provide.

Pets are able to understand human feelings and emotions. A dog for instance, can understand many of the words we use, they can also interpret the tone of our voice, body language and gestures. Pets, especially dogs and cats can reduce stress, anxiety, depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness. The unconditional love provided by pets can bring a smile to anyone’s face. Just 5 minutes of cuddling with your furry friend, after a hectic day, would be enough to release the stress and anxiety.

Even caring for stray animals has a similar effect on the mental health. It encourages a person to wake up early every morning and go for a walk to feed those animals. Just watching those animals come running towards the person makes him or her feel loved. Some people prefer to feed a friend on their way to work or school, it uplifts their mood which in turn improves their performance at their workplace. Befriending an animal is in fact quite easy, it’s all about winning their trust.

Vombu is my anti depressing medicine , for me nothing is truer in this world than his love . Whenever I am sad or frustrated , I don't know but he can feel . Pets can be a great source of comfort and motivation. The companionship that a pet offers is a great way to reduce anxiety and stress. When we see new born babies of pets we feels us very delightful. Personally, whenever I feel stressed, I take them out of the cage and start playing with them and even more important to run after them so that they don't drop anything. And these all makes you feel nice and nimble.
