Accurate and precision of in vitro analysis of kill-rate of antimicrobials requires in-depth method development. This includes assessment of bactericidal or fungicidal impact of new antimicrobial drug candidates and their dynamic relationship between antimicrobial agents and microbial strains. The kill rate studies also play an important role in evaluating the antibiotic component of combination products and to determine synergism or antagonism between drugs (two or more).

Dr. Malavika Ghosh, Sr. Vice President and Head, Global Pre-clinical Research Services, will present a poster titled “Reliable and Reproducible Preclinical Rodent Models of MASH” at the 7th Obesity & NASH Drug Development Summit at Boston, MA from November 27-29, 2023.

She will detail how our scientists have established therapeutic intervention with Elafibranor in three different murine models of MASH compiling the different dietary compositions, Choline-deficient, Lamino acid-defined, high-fat diet (CDAA-HFD), High-fat, high-fructose, high-cholesterol (FFC; Western diet (WD)) + CCl diet and High-fat, high- 4 fructose, high-cholesterol (FFC) diet and evaluated their impact on metabolic, biochemical and histological outcomes.

We are delighted to share that Aragen has retained the Silver Medal rating in the EcoVadis Global Sustainability Assessment 2023. This recognition underscores Aragen's dedication to environmental, social and governance considerations in its operations. We have recorded a significant increase in our scores on critical pillars such as Environment and Sustainable Procurement. This underscores our focus on following the principles of green chemistry and green supply chain management in our operations. Renewable energy accounts for 28% of our total energy consumption in FY 23. We achieved an absolute 28% MTCO2e reduction in Scope 1 emission compared to FY22. We also continuously evaluate alternatives to replace toxic and hazardous chemicals and solvents with safer options to make our labs cleaner and safer.

Aragen has more than 75 years of combined experience in fibrosis preclinical service, with over 600 successful fibrosis studies conducted for 50+ customers. More than 10 programs have advanced into clinical development; many in Phase II. Our preclinical fibrosis services aid in the discovery and characterization of clinically relevant molecules or pathways involved in the progression of fibrotic diseases.

At Aragen, scientists have created CDAHFD induced NASH mouse model that shows inflammatory infiltrate and pattern of liver fibrosis observed in human NASH. These models are good for pharmacologic testing of novel antifibrotics and are most useful to investigate critical etiopathogenic factors.

This case study details how Aragen scientists successfully performed racemization of an unwanted compound to achieve a biologically active racemic mixture with high purity. The compound, synthesized for treating inflammatory conditions, encountered a challenge as the client could not generate the racemic mixture during batch racemization processes, and the compound's purity was declining.

During the program, participants explored the concept of design thinking and its application in project management.
