Why do we get sugar cravings?
How easy and life changing it would be to have a simple pill to get rid of your sugar cravings isn’t it?
But before we search for a solution, we need to understand why that problem exist in the first place.
When we feed ourselves with carbs or sugar, blood sugar gets spiked. In the result, body releases insulin to lower down blood sugar. During this process, blood sugar gets lowered down to the extent than needed. In such cases, body demands more sugar and that is exactly when we have sugar cravings.
Eventually what happened? Body brings down blood sugar which eventually demanding more isn’t it ironic?
How to avoid sugar cravings?

The answer to this question cannot be YES or NO.
Carb is important macronutrient required for body to function. After carb intake, body convert them into glycogen (sugar) to provide energy. Carbs are prime energy source for body.

It is recommended to have 50 to 60 % of daily calorie intake should come from carbs and rest from protein and carbs.

Carbs are of two types
Simple and complex carbs. They are simple and complex because of their structure and takes less and more time to digest respectively.

Carbs are often blamed because they are converted into sugar after digestion. \
But the tricky part is if consumed within recommended portions, carbs can be useful and would not lead to weight gain.

Lets understand this further, when converted into sugar is utilized to fuel body to function. When excess carbs are consumed, sugar converted is then stored in fat.

Why does this happen?
Body stores extra sugar as fat which can be utilized further by burning down when body needs energy and no food is fed at that time.

So bottom line is, carbs are not enemy and don’t lead to weight gain if consumed in right amount.

Intermittent fasting is one of the popular diet practices being followed by people who have hectic schedule, travel a lot for work or lack proper food options near workplaces.
Basically, it is a methodology focused on timings when you are eating vs timing when you are not eating. It focuses on when to eat rather than what to eat.
There are various patterns where intermittent fasting can be done,
16/8 – 8 hours of eating followed by 16 hours of fasting
20/4 – four hours of eating followed by 20 hours of fasting
24 hour fasting – once or twice a week 24 hour fasting
There is no thumb rule as such for intermittent fasting. Do it while listening to your body.
