5th session with Leo (3.5months old)
I intentionally didn't edit the video just to show what the learning process is like. Leo just learnt the "sleep" and "stay" commands during this video. He's doing really good and moreover it's such a happy video. He has a long way to go, jumping needs to stop completely. Ofcourse before I joined, the owner had taught him to "jump" which isn't recommended. The owners need to be present there to see how the training takes place. I make the owner follow up whatever the pup learns in that particular class. So get ready for some homework if you choose me as the teacher. If in less than two weeks this is the result, then homework does the trick, right?!

Update on Pumpkin, a timid boxer, who was adopted at the age of 4months and had no food drive or play drive whatsoever. For days she couldn't accept her new owners and when I came into the picture she used to go under the sofa/bed/table whenever she saw me. We conducted socialising sessions with another dog (Popoy-previous post) and I started working on building her confidence. Its always easy to calm a hyper dog but to get a dog to be confident when it has shut down is a different story. Pumpkin was with a renowned breeder in Delhi but she did not step out of a room in the appartment. She came in with a bunch of problems. She was detected with rickets. She refused to socialise, walk (even inside the house) wouldn't eat much. Once her health improved her problems didn't change much. Mostly relating to her timid nature. She would throw herself on the ground once a leash was put around her, she refused to be touched, eat treats out of my hand or even play with any toy. I was extremely worried about this dog. Until one day she accepted me and started eating treats out of my hand. I managed to teach her a few commands but any loud appreciation would startle her. She started trusting me inside the house. Outside was still a challenge. After making training sessions fun for her, after making sure her little tail started to wag when she interacted with me, I started setting a few rules. Pumpkin belongs to an old couple and she had to learn how to walk slow as she would pull with all her might to go back home to hide under some furniture. She taught me alot of new things and made me a better trainer. The dog world never ceases to amaze me!

8weeks old pup ❤
Meet Dodo. Naah she's not dumb like a Dodo. Turns out Dodo is quite the Einstein. She has amazing focus and learns really fast. Love it when a consultation is so successful. She's food driven which is a good thing but a set of rules comes along with that. Look at Dodo learning her first command "sit" along with an accidental handshake 😜
Have a blissful Sunday!

"Sunny" a ray of sunshine.
A little high on happiness this goofball is bursting with energy ❤
This is a merged video of Sunny when he was 3months old and now when he is 6months old. Just realized, how big he's become. 😊
Watch the end- he forgets which side he needs to face 🤣

Yak Milk Chews from Himalaya - Churpi/Yakies medium bars of approximately 6 inches and large bars of approximately 10inches.
These Organic cheese chews are ideally suited for medium to big sized dogs. Just give it to them and look at them chewing on it during the entire day.
Churpis are high protein vegetarian dog treats made from Himalayan Yak milk. Churpis are produced in the upper Himalayas of Sikkim. The Yaks are completely organically fed (Sikkim being the first Indian State to be fully organic), and the Churpi nuggets are made using traditional methods only.
As Churpi is a produce of a cottage industry and is handcrafted, each piece will vary in size and shape as it is not a mechanized industrial produce. Churpi ensures livelihood for the thousands of hard-working women in the Upper Himalayas.
Churpi may look like a single product that is just cheese, however, the natural ingredients packed in this product actually make it a healthy & organic veg treat for dogs.
ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS: Loaded with Probiotics, Omega 3 Fatty Acids
PROMOTES ORAL HEALTH: It is an Organic Dental Chew for Dogs and is Very Effective in Removing Plaque and Tartar. It Keeps Gums Strong and Healthy
PROTEIN RICH: As Churpi contains protein along with all essential amino acids, it provides your pooch with a treat that has a good balance of both absorbable protein as well as healthy fat
LONG LASTING CHEW: The inherent texture of it is hard, therefore, making it really long lasting
IRRESISTIBLE TASTE: They are essentially hardened cheese. As cheese is loved by most dogs, you would find your puppy or a full grown dog, both loving them equally.
P.S. it is not suitable for Lactose Intolerant Dogs
Pumpkin, 5months old Boxer, with Popoy, 3years old Cultural Pomeranian. For ones who haven't been following Pupmkin's story, she's extremely timid and to boost her confidence we decided on getting another dog in the scene. Tim's dog has a beautiful disposition. See how they share food. It might look very normal, but it's a crucial step. Pumpkin who has major trust issues, she wouldn't take treats from my hand in the beginning. At the end of this session, she was eating in the presence of another dog from the same hand.

Working on positioning mainly. Competitive heel walk is alot complex and I'm not going to put Woofy on the show field but this is just something I wish to teach him. The owners are satisfied with him walking along on a loose leash not reacting to cars, humans or stray dogs. That's done and dusted. This is my last month with Woofy and I'm going to miss working with him. He's got amazing impulse control, amazing recall and a great zest for training. Enjoy the video!

I'm so glad the owner decided to record this. The third class was such a good one. Pumpkin and I played tug and other social games and for the first time I saw her wagging her little tail. I can appreciate her enthusiastically and touch her and she doesn't get startled. I hate to see dogs taking training sessions as a punishment kinda like how we thought school was.
I've already taught her place, sit, down, up and hi-5. She is 100% potty trained, thanks to the owner's consistency. They put in that time and effort to take her out in the garden and command her to do "susu" or "potty". I get a lot of calls saying their dogs are 1year olds who have never been potty trained. This 4months old has set a great example.
Owners need to consistent be it for house breaking or house rules or leash manners. If owners don't follow up, the dog won't learn.

Working with a timid dog is more challenging but the end results are so rewarding. The happiness, when the dog starts trusting you and accepts you, is unexplainable. When we come across an excited and/or confident pup, it's easy to teach them to calm down and one can enthusiastically appreciate them when they obey.
This is just the second day and I managed to keep Pumpkin, a 4month old Boxer, by my side for a longer period of time while teaching her the "sit and down" command. Infact, see how I'm stretching my arm out to treat her as she refused to come close. I had to come down to her level by kneeling down rather than standing and being more dominant. NOTICE how she tries to get away from me when I rise... She gets startled with a loud YES (even though its an appreciation).
She is developing fear aggression as she has trust issues. She doesn't gel well with strangers and when anyone enters the house, she goes under the bed and growls.
She is the third timid dog that I have come across and although I have less experience with timid dogs, I successfully made the other two dogs confident and playful. Hope the third case is a success too. Please send your best wishes.

Training with Chanel, the Chow Chow
Obedience is not sit, down, stay, these tricks are part of the curriculum. Tricks teach the dogs to focus and respond to you by using their cognitive abilities. Response is always rewarded and wrong/no response is not. Hence, the dog will act accordingly. Only running and playing around will keep your dog physically fit but mental stimulation is equally important.
Have a nice day!

An owner is the best trainer
Today's consultation was such a success with Max, a 1year 2months old German Shepherd, who would pull on choke chain and was reactive to the street dogs while the streeties were a calm lot. We just put him on a slip lead marked point A and Point B and made the owner walk to and fro with Strays sleeping at the back... The main purpose is for the dog to concentrate on the handler and not on the stimulus in the environment. We took him to this nice playground just beside their house as the alleys are narrow with cars moving up and down all the time. Max did amazing and the owner Sohan learnt the knack quickly... Love it when you can be a good coach to the dog as well as the owner...
Max isn't a perfect dog in 5min. We have to work alot but this is a great beginning.

I must be doing something right if a 5month old pup walks like this.
Like all puppies, Scotch, had zero leash manners and starting early helped the pup and the family. He walks brilliantly, even on the road and here's a little video of him walking perfectly on loose leash.
Tip: Take a 100steps mark A and B. Start by walking to & fro from point A to B. Change directions when you see your dog is leading correct him, lure him, to follow you at your heels.

TIPSY ❤
She was a rescue who had fractured her collar bone, after recovery of that operation it was noticed that Tipsy has lost sight in one of her eyes. She uses her nose and ears more than her eyes. She still suffers from seizures.
But this post isn't for sympathy! Oh hell no!
Tipsy has got amazing owners and she is living life to the fullest. She loves to run around in a funny way, as if she is drunk or "tipsy" and ends up walking into furnitures. The place command helped the family alot. She loves her new bed and since the place is in the hall beside the sofa she loves sitting there while guests can have a conversation with the family in peace.
I love working with her. She is extremely smart and loves to cuddle hahaha!

IS YOUR DOG REACTIVE TO PARIAH DOGS?
Dogs living in the streets are extremely territorial and do not entertain trespassers. It becomes a problem if a pack charges towards your dog and your dog gets anxious, nervous or charges back... It is very dangerous if your dog refuses to budge an inch in the middle of the road or is pulling you with all his strength with cars in motion. You end up not taking your dog out for a walk.
Here in this video, Woofy, who used to be extremely reactive to dogs on the road, is walking beside me calmly and is being followed by a pack of dogs behind him. If you notice the dogs aren't charging or howling nor is Woofy. I should've taken a video earlier as they turned once they reached their invisible territory line.
Your dog sees your vibes too... If you are nervous of the dogs outside, he gets anxious too. Train yourself first, then your dog and walking in a busy street with 30 pariah dogs in your neighbourhood won't be a problem.

Building the bond-
Puppies are bursting with energy and to channelise that energy into something constructive is our motto. They also build a bond with you over PLAY. They want to impress you and get a reward in return. "Fetch" is a brilliant way to exercise your dog, get him to use his cognitive abilities, and ofcourse learning one of the most important command "drop". If the pup or even an adult dog has taken something that might be harmful for him the drop or out command can save his life. On the second day of training I realized like most pups Scotch puts everything in his mouth like an orally fixated infant, but unlike most pups he gives a hard time letting go.
"Scotch" 3.5months old Golden Retriever shows signs of Canine Possession Aggression at such a young age. He will clamp his jaws shut and keep growling, pushing his threshold and getting it back will lead to random bites. "Resource guarding" is very dangerous as anyone who will want to take the thing back may get bitten. He's a pup now and correcting this behaviour at this tender age is important. He has always got his way by growling and the family members including the servants let him go. Only one such negative reinforcement from one person will lead to encouraging bad behaviour. He needs to be checked each and every time without fail.

A special THANK YOU video for Bhairava Braiders:
The other day I got in touch with Mr. SENTHIL PADAGALINGAM who is a rice merchant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He owns a working line GSD who destroyed more than 5 leashes and collars by the time he touched 6 months. He thought he'll take it in his hands to make a durable set. The leash and collar are made with trekking ropes and are really strong. His friends used it and spread the word and Bhairava Braiders was established. His wife helps him with the business too. He makes different types of leashes, leads and collars.
In this video I've used a special lead (extra handle) and a 30ft. Long line.

Harness or collar?
I have come across a lot of people who think harness are a "humane way" of taking a dog out on a walk. Disregarding the fact that harness is a relatively new concept compared to leash which has been going on since ages. It's not inhumane to put a leash around a dog's neck. In fact it calms them down. Harness is put on dogs who need to pull a sledge or go for an attack giving them more room to pull with all their might. If you counter it by saying you might choke a dog to death I'll counter my argument by this video. There are many who pull even on the collar or slip lead. More on that later...
Kazuki, a year old Siberian Husky, has been like this till date. He was always on the harness and his walks have been a task for his owner. He pulls his "human sledge" wherever he wants. He doesn't know how to go for a calm walk. He's noisy, he keeps whining and barking along the way. Ofcourse certain behaviour traits are true to the breed but he has never been on collar and leash. It was always a harness on his chest. This behaviour was never corrected by the owner as he didn't think it was wrong.
This is a video comparing how he was on the harness compared to how he is on the leash. This was the first day and his body language changed in 5min. But there is still a lot of work left. He's a very dominant dog and has other issues which needs a lot of work.
