Cold pressed mustard oil.

It was indeed a new experience for us to explore different methods of oil extraction. We used the traditional cold pressed method to extract oil from the mustard which we harvested this spring.

Monsoon: Maize

Every night he will sleep under porch of this grain market. In the daytime, he will wait for the sun and walk over the maize to dry it. Everyday, I see him smiling when it rains, sitting on his cot he keep looking at the grains. When the pouring takes the pause, he will get up and pick this tool, to continue his work.
I didn't see him today.
I hope he isn't tired yet.

ਮੈਂ ਅੱਜ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ।
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਥੱਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

Moong bean or Green gram is everyone's favourite for sprouts. They are a good source of plant based protein and contains healthy antioxidants.
Recently FSSAI has issued a warning that lentils may contain residues of Glyphosate.
Every produce at uday farm is pesticide fee and only farm manure is used.
The beans are hand picked and no chemical or herbicides are used.

Kadaknath is a tribal India breed of chicken originated from Madhya Pradesh.
GI tag for kadaknath meat was approved on 30 December 2018. We don't sell chicken or meat on our farm. Chicken Manure is used as a fertilizer and these little friends help us in keeping our farm free from caterpillars.

In 19th century, beetroot was used to color wine. The young leaves of beets can be eaten as a and the mature leaves can be boiled and cooked like . Beetroot leaves are a good source of Iron, Vitamin A & C.
We often eat beetroot in salad , but raw. A friend suggested me to boil it first and then eat it. Believe me, it will change the way you eat your beets.
Some studies found out that a Beet juice can lower .
In terms of Nutrition , 1 cup of beetroot has 3.81 grams of fibre.

Lettuce and sunflowers are relatives because they belong to Daisy family. There are 8 -11 types of lettuce grown in spring. The one which we grow at out farm is Red Lollo Rosso Lettuce along with green lettuce. Lettuce is crisp salad that one tends to ignore its little bitterness.

Very berry . We are late for strawberries. Pretty fruit, isn't it!
Strawberries are a good source of Vitamin C. Strawberry is the only fruit which has seeds on it's outer skin.

Aphids.
They will grow from 100s to 1000s and then more. 1.The best way to control them is to prevent their eggs from hatching by spraying diluted neem oil.

Butterflies are beautiful. You will find them in their garden, flowers. But the real problem starts when the adult start laying it's eggs and after a few days you see something eating your leaf. We found some in our garden.

To prevent such events in the near future, we placed some sticky traps. Some sticky traps are impregnated with some scents to attract insects, but not all. Sticky traps are different from glue traps.

Spring is all about blooming flowers, new leaves and, allergies 🤧. We sre happy to see these beautiful flowers in our garden.
Onion Flowers. Onion seeds are small and black in color just like Nigella Seeds ( कलौंजी). However, Onion seeds are not Kalonji.
For the first tome we are going to save onion seeds for the next season. Wish us good luck.

There are over 400 different types of cabbage grown around the world. Red or purple cabbage made it's entry into a salad bowl.
There presence of a compound called anthocyanin gives this color to the cabbage. The color changes to blue if it's cooked with any alkaline substance ( Even tab water could be alkaline).
Tip: Add a little lemon juice to retain the same beautiful color of your cabbage.
