We are a striving, among other things, to establish and promote a more humane treatment of temple elephants. Although temple elephants are common in India, the sad truth is that far too often their needs are not being met, or worse, that they are subjected cruel training methods and excessive forced labor conditions. By inviting the outside public to be involved in developing and supporting our pr

ogram, we hope to lead by positive example. Specifically, we hope to motivate other temples to adopt our policies and practices, thereby improving the lives of these sentient animals. We are collecting donations solely for the purpose of funding our elephant program which includes costs associated with veterinary care, food, mahout (trainer) compensation, and other costs directly related to providing the highest level of care for our temple elephants: Laksmipriya and Bishnupriya.

Bishnupriya’s mahout, Subarna Singh was severely attacked by a swarm of honey bees 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 today(Apis Cerana Indica)!!! We gave him first aid and rushed him to the hospital, where they extracted 164!!! Stingers from his body plus one bee 🐝 from inside his ear!!! Please pray that he will recover quickly. He is in a lot of pain, came down with a fever and is a bit delirious.

I have one very exiting news today. Mahout Bharat has taken his first steps today, after being bedridden for two month following his accident. Please pray for his speedy full recovery ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼.

Please pray for Bishnupriya 🙏🏼🐘. She has an injury on her leg, which she encountered while playing with her big sister LAKSMIPRIYA. We still need to exercise her though, so the leg does not become stiff. Yesterday we started her on some medication, which will prevent any possible infection and will relieve her of the pain.

These workers were very exhausted after loading 35 mature banana trees onto the tractor. But Don’t worry, I bought them some Samoas to eat, to regain their energy. (Indian samosa is a fried or baked pastry with a savory filling)

These workers working very hard behind the scenes to provide food for the elephants….the banana trees weighing a LOT! At the Elephant Care Center the elephants help with this heavy task of pulling the banana trees, but we are getting low in supply and need to bring in the trees with a tractor 🚜 from another place.

Laksmipriya is looking for her mother and is missing also the goodies she feeds her and her sister Bishnupriya, every Sunday morning. What to do? Mother is sick with Covid19 😷🤧🦠and needs to stay home for a while. Next weekend mom will come again with extra biscuits and apples 🍎, to make up for not coming this week. Missing my two girls. ❤️🐘🐘❤️
