A DAY AT THE SHELTER 🐾 — THE REALITY BEHIND THE SCENES
People often think running a shelter is easy.
It isn’t.
Most people have no idea what really happens in a shelter through the day — the chaos, the unpredictability, the heartbreaks, and the small wins that keep us going. Some shelters choose to share everything, some prefer to stay quiet. But today, we’re sharing one of those days.
This morning, not one but four of our resident dogs decided to dig a tunnel and escape from the shelter. Yes — four! Among them were Lalu and Jiya, our “romantically involved” duo (don’t worry, both are spayed and neutered 😅). Three of them were caught soon after, but Jiya — being the timid, free-spirited one — gave us the run of our lives. For seven long hours, our team searched every lane, every corner, calling her name endlessly… until late at night, when she finally walked back on her own.
By then, the entire team was exhausted — mentally, physically, emotionally. But that’s what shelter life is. It’s no festivals, no holidays, no fixed hours — just endless emergencies, heartbreaks, recoveries, rescues, and moments that test every ounce of patience and love we have.
So before making an unkind comment or a quick judgment, please pause and put yourself in our place.
Feeding a few street dogs is beautiful — but running a sanctuary with 200+ lives depending on you every single day is an entirely different world.
We do it with love.
We do it for them.
But it’s never easy. ❤️
