A mother always goes beyond to care for her children Queenie, a weathered elderly mother dog, was found with her injured puppies, struggling to survive after a brutal attack. Her pups, weak and severely injured, bore the marks of a harsh ordeal. Despite her own frailty, Queenie kept her head high, nursing her children with the strength only a mother’s love can provide. The puppies, infested with fleas and maggot wounds, were in desperate need of help. Karma Foundation rushed to rescue them, facing an initial challenge as Queenie instinctively protected her pups. But, gradually, she sensed that we were there to help, allowing us to gently carry her babies to safety. The journey was far from easy. Two of the puppies did not survive, leaving Queenie only six to care for after enduring the brutal attack. With urgent medical care and proper nutrition, both Queenie and her remaining pups began to heal. Spaying Queenie is crucial to prevent future pregnancies due to her age and condition, and of course - the trauma. We ensured both mother and puppies received the nursing care they so desperately needed to overcome their physical and emotional wounds. Queenie fought through her own weakness, putting everything into nursing and protecting her pups. Her journey is one of survival, resilience, and an unwavering maternal love that refused to let her children give up. Elvis, a playful puppy, endured a heartbreaking tragedy. While playing around the railroad tracks with his siblings, an awful disaster struck. His leg was caught in the tracks, unfortunately making him lose his paw. In excruciating pain, Elvis cried for help—and thankfully, a kind soul answered and contacted us immediately. After being rescued and brought to Karma Foundation, Elvis was in critical condition, as his forelimb bled heavily. Despite his suffering, he showed immense courage as our team worked to stabilize him with pain relief and antibiotics. However, additional scans revealed heart and lung complications, forcing us to delay the surgery he urgently needed. Against all odds, Elvis began to heal with dedicated care, daily bandaging, and treatment. Remarkably, his recovery was so complete that surgery—and further amputation—was no longer necessary. Today, Elvis is back where he belongs, reunited with his loving family. Meet Zoro, a brave young dog who came to us with a severe injury to his right foreleg. His bone and muscle were exposed, and the infection had left the limb beyond saving. To free Zoro from unbearable pain and give him a fighting chance, our team performed a scapulectomy, removing his entire limb from the shoulder. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the only way to ensure Zoro’s health and happiness. With 7 days of pain management, antibiotics, and lots of care, Zoro recovered beautifully. Today, he is full of energy and joy, adjusting wonderfully to life on three legs. Zoro’s resilience reminds us of the difference a little kindness can make. Ollie was brought to us after being heartlessly run over, leaving her left leg severely injured and infected to the bone. The extent of the damage was shocking – if we hadn’t acted fast, the infection could have spread throughout her body, putting her life at risk. Our team rushed to perform a scapula removal surgery to save Ollie’s leg and prevent further damage. Despite the pain and trauma, Ollie showed incredible strength throughout the ordeal. He was placed on pain medications and antibiotics for a smooth recovery, and after the first procedure healed, we also performed a spay surgery to ensure her overall well-being. Thanks to the urgent care from our team, Ollie has fully recovered and is back in the place she belongs, but must live a life with one less leg. Meet Rex, a young dog who came to Karma Foundation with a painful limp in his left hind leg. When we examined him, we found a large swelling near his thigh. X-rays revealed a complete femur fracture, and we quickly realized the severity of his condition. Unfortunately, Rex also suffered from a painful skin infection, adding to his discomfort. What made it worse was the severe infection within his fractured leg, which prevented immediate surgery. To give him the best chance at recovery, we started him on antibiotics, pain relief, and daily wound care. As the days passed, the infection began to clear. Once his condition improved, we sedated Rex to drain the remaining infection. His resilience shone through—soon, he was walking again, free of pain. After his wound fully healed, we neutered him and, following his final recovery, safely returned him to his original location. Rex is now healthy and thriving, thanks to the dedicated care from our team and the support of our generous donors.
