A group of 8 people met in an empty office late one night to discuss the condition of the dogs on the FLAME campus. It broke our hearts to see the dogs we loved so much having wounds from territorial fights and being so underfed. So we decided to do something about it. We approached the management and with their help and support, were able to set up Pawssibles as an official student-run organizati
on in FLAME. We have been working on practicing ABC (Animal Birth Control) to reduce the population of the dogs on campus. We have slowly been able to neuter a lot of dogs on campus. We have also vaccinated many of the strays in order to keep them and the people around them safe from rabies. Our primary concern is with their medical and dietary needs. To ensure that the dogs do not rummage excessively through garbage cans on campus, we feed most of them once a day. We also have people trained for canine first aid and work in collaboration with ResQ and Blue Cross in Pune to make sure we provide the necessary care when the dogs get into fights. The organization works solely on donations provided by the faculty, students or others. Whence there were once 9 people, over 20 people stand together today to help our cause. Even as some people from the organization will graduate, we are now assured that there will always be people to carry on caring for our furry companions.
