- Use simple detergent and wash the toys. Machine wash works well too.
- Hand wash Squeaky toys made from rubber or plastic with soap detergent.
- Remember to wash their bedding and blanket regularly too.
- Discard toys that are torn, ripped or a missing pieces.
- Clean once every 2 weeks.
- Heavily used toys, collars, leashes and garments can be washed once a week.
- Always dry the toys before use.

KONG toys
- Rinse with warm water and dish soap.
- For stubborn & stuck treats, soak Kong in warm water & dish soap to loosen the leftovers.
- Use a toothbrush to scrub the inside.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Can also wash on too rack of dishwasher. It will clean the Kong as well as disinfect it.

In this crazy busy life to find time to brush your dog each day can be a daunting task. If you read on, the benefits of brushing daily may tempt you to remove some time each day.
- It’s an amazing way to bond with your pet, it relaxes your pet and slowly both of you will look forward to this activity daily
- Dog hair found on Fur-niture and everywhere in your house, sounds familiar? Brushing your pet regularly prevents shedding as most of the undercoat and loose hair is picked up by the brush hence less hair floating around the house
- Long haired dogs need daily brushing to help prevent knots and mats. Mats can be extremely painful for the dogs and if attached close to the skin, it doesn’t allow the skin to breathe and leads to lot of skin infections and irritation if left unattended. Knots can be prevented with regular brushing, if they are left on for long, shedding hair gets tangled in the knots making it a Mat.
- Regular brushing helps examine the skin for parasites, tics and fleas, lumps and bumps. Brushing allows you to separate the hair one area at a time and spot potential problems.
- Regular brushing helps remove dirt and debris stuck on your dogs coat when they go for a walk daily.
- A thorough brushing aerates your dog’s skin and coat. It stimulates circulation and distributes natural oils throughout. If you want your dogs coat to shine, regular brushing is a must!

There are various brushes available in the market, each breed has a specific brush that goes with it coat. It will not just help you reach through the hair but will be gentle on your dog’s skin.
Comment below with your dogs name and breed and we will tell you which brush is suitable for your fur baby!
Happy Brushing!

Did you know?

Dogs use the Earth’s magnetic field when they’re relieving themselves. Not only that, but canines choose to do so in a north-south axis, avoiding east-west altogether.

A cup of hot chocolate for you, and a warm hug for you floof, not that you need a reason for both of these but a carving for wamrth means only one thing, Winter is here!

Here are a few tips to make this winter more pleasant for your pups.

P.S - the models in the post are wearing sweaters and winter accessories for visual appeal.

Comfortable bedding :
Add a thick blanket to a comfortable bed, makes a cozy nook for your pup. It also provides extra padding for painful joints. Dogs with hormonal imbalance, heart problems, kidney disease or diabetes are not able to regulate their body heat appropriately. Dogs suffering from arthritis/HD experience great discomfort as the cold can make their joints stiff.

Bath time :
Keeping the bath time short, using lukewarm water, towel drying and using dryer helps in this weather. Avoid taking your dog out immediately after a bath, wait for the entire coat to dry.

Shedding :
Dogs shed their summer coat and grow a nice thick coat to help them adapt to the drop in temperature. The coat is a natural warmer so may times, dogs may not need a sweater or jacket to combat the weather, unless you live in a region where it snows.

Brush :
Brushing helps the coat stay clean, removing any dirt or debris they may have collected during their walks. Brushing helps avoid matts in long coat dogs, since shaving off is something that should be avoided during the winter as they need their coat to stay warm.

Cold pressed Coconut Oil :
Adding cold pressed coconut oil to the pup’s meals helps hydrate skin and coat. Massaging the oil into the coat helps hydrate the coat in this dry weather.

Meals :
Keep the meals light, incorporating fish in the meals, aid hydration by including broths and soups in their meal.

Skin care :
Paw and snout butters help in keeping the paw pads and their boop button supple in the winters.

Also, warm engines in parked cars attract cats who may crawl up under the hood. Avoid injuring them by tapping on the car’s hood to alert them and giving them some time to get out before starting the engine.

Thank you for editing the pic and the lovely introduction 😀

Although it doesn’t get much prominence, nail cutting is one of the most important aspects of grooming. It brings greater comfort to the animals to carry out their daily activities
- When dogs spend lots of time outdoors, running on hard surfaces, their nails wear out gradually & there is less need to trim them.
- Long nails not only look unhygienic, but over time can bring health problems to the dog.
- Long nails that constantly touch the ground, exert pressure on the base of the nail, creating pain and produces constant pressure on the joints, which could contribute to arthritis of knees, hips.
- Dogs scratch themselves & can wound skin, themselves due to long pointed, sharp nails.
- While playing, excitement or excess jumping on overgrown nails may lead to tear or break nails & lead to the broken nail getting infected. It can be really painful for the pup.
- Overgrown nails can curl & dig into the paw pad of the dog.

Nail care -
Always keep nails trimmed and filed.

Incorrect technique leads to cutting of the quick (blood vessel) and could leave your dog in trauma or unpleasant memory of nail cut and may hesitate to get their nails cut the next time.

Avoid nail cut at home (especially for black nails)
If nail cut intimidates you, get professional help I.e vet or pet groomer to do the job for you.

Many people enjoy getting their nails done at a salon, but that may not be true for some dogs. Some dogs simply do not enjoy having their nails clipper but still allow it to happen and others dislike it so much that they flick their paws away, try to run, sometimes show their teeth, growl or even come to bite (based on their past experiences)

This aggression is not only a danger to people trying to clip the nails, but can result in unintended physical trauma for the dog as well.

Over the last couple years, that I’ve been grooming, I’ve heard stories of 2 or more people holding down the dog to get the nails cut. Imagine 2 or more people holding you forcefully so someone can give you a pedicure or cut your hair. It’s a traumatising thought right? Don’t do it to your dog.
DM us to know how we can get your pet ok with nail cut.

01/11/2021

Notice when two dogs meet, they instantaneously go around smelling each other’s butts? Have you ever discouraged your dog from sniffing the butt of another dog as a way of greeting? Let’s find out why they do that.
Of the 5 senses, smell takes the lead in the canine world. A dog’s ability to smell is far more advanced than ours. An average dog has a sense of smell that is about 100,000 times more sensitive than its owners because dog noses contain 150 million olfactory receptors.
Dogs olfactory senses enhance communication by using biochemical compounds emitted by dogs as a basis for chemical communication. The chemical aromas identify gender, mood and even communicate what a dog likes to eat!
By simply smelling a dog can determine if a new friend is a male or female, happy or aggressive, or healthy or ill! Dogs get a general idea about each other with a quick sniff but get more detailed into by getting up, close and personal.
What perplexes many pet owners is why dogs sniff this particular area. Why rear ends? Why not ears or feet?? The answer is inside the re**um are 2 small sacs called a**l glands which secreat a noxious smelling substance. Humans are unaware of this occurrence since the odour is masked by the odour of the stool, dogs, however can definitely tell the difference.
Because the odour is unique to every dog, two dogs can quickly determine if they have met before. The manner in which dogs sniff rear ends can establish which of the two is dominant and set the foundation of a canine relationship. The dominant dog will initiate the sniffing while the submissive dog waits his turn.
Some dogs like to limit the information they give out and will simply sit down and clamp their tail over their re**um recusing the odour they emit.
In addition to chemical communication, there is another purpose to sniff. Believe it or not, dogs smell butts as a calming mechanism. Performing this ritual soothes them and serves as a stress reliever.
So the next time your dog circles around their friend to get a whiff do not discourage it. Let them communicate in a manner they know best! Let dogs be dogs 😀

Meet Hana, a 5.5 year old munchkin, the CEO, CIO, CTO (chief tleatos officer) & one of the main reasons behind ’s existence. She took two novice hoomans and transformed them into pet lovers. With her gentle ways, calm personality and obedience (yes, I may be a little biased 😉) she helped me overcome my childhood recurring nightmare of being bitten by a dog, so much so that I even managed to chose grooming pups as my career of choice. Had it not been for this girl, we wouldn’t have grooming tales today!
So thank you my lovely baby for coming into our lives and changing it for the best.
Here are some of her favourites

Favourite food- Eggs, eggs, eggs! Cheese, Chicken, Mango

Favourite activities- Swimming, Tekdi hikes.

Fond memory - Greeting each and everyone that comes home with a toy in her mouth and an invitation to play with her.

Habits - Sleeping on all her favourite Hoomans legs so they can’t leave her and go about their normal routine. Practising puppy eyes on unsuspecting folks to guilt them into sharing their food with her!

The laws or Murphy dictate that if you give a dog a bath, you’re going to get one yourself. The inevitable water shake off is a dog’s version of wrapping himself in a plush towel
Picture this... you’ve wet your dog’s coat, applied generous amounts of shampoo and now it’s a waiting game for the shampoo to do its magic on the fur. Suddenly the dog shakes himself and you are left with water and soap all over you... sounds familiar?
Let’s try and understand why dogs shake.

1. Wet dogs shake : Its an excellent way for the dog to dry off quickly.

2. Irritation : Dogs often shake if their skin is irritated or itchy. Often dogs can’t reach to scratch any itchy or ticklish areas of their body. This may be combined with rolling on the floor or grazing against furniture.

3. Ear issues : If the dog persistently shakes it’s head & ears, this could be a sign of itchiness or infection in one or both ears. They may also be shaking in an attempt to dislodge a foreign object.

4. Tension : Dogs shake as a way of relieving tension. If a dog is nervous or uncomfortable in a situation, it may shake the whole body as a way of shaking out the tension.

5. Temperature : Dogs also shake themselves as a way to warm up in cold temperatures.
