Working on Lily's insecurities and aggression
Your dog growls when approached by strangers, perhaps attacks them too when you're around. It's becoming difficult to go outside the house with the dog and you don't know what to do!
.
Lily was approaching towards aggression, as she growled when approached and shivered due to fear.
🔰Her mindset:
➡️ She would growl only when the parent was near her. Meaning she was protecting her owner, and herself.
➡️ She does not want to initiate aggression from her side, but just expects that she and her parent are left alone. This combination of shyness & protection instincts leads to aggression and introvert behavior.
➡️ Her fellow mate(dog named Oscar) who lives in the same house would bark alot when strangers approached, creating further tension, anxiety and fear in Lily.
.
🔰Our approach:
➡️ We started with gaining her confidence, just being around her while she shivered and tried to run away.
➡️ Her parent wanted us to train Oscar as well. The first thing we did is brought that excessive, unnecessary barking under control.
➡️ We included the parent in the training sessions at an early stage to tackle her fear based aggression.
➡️ With training and therapy, the owner was successfully able to convey to Lily that she is safe, and that she doesn't need to protect.
Gradually, Lily's confidence increased and this is the result!

Training a shy dog is difficult. One mistake and the dog who had accepted you yesterday will run away from you, even bite you if necessary.
.
➡️In this video, we focus on vocal tone of the handler and how it creates different types of impacts on a shy dog.
➡️ A shy dog shouldn't feel arrested, but at the same time, should also be made aware about his boundaries.
➡️ My body language and voice tone can help achieve that in some cases. Note that this may not work on all shy dogs as every shy dog has different trauma, or different insecurities, you might say.
.
With Mohan, the miniature pinscher, this helped us a lot. The dog who would run towards his house now fights hard to stay with us and thats a victory we were waiting for since we started.
Solving reaction & aggression problems take time. The dog in this video had both problems. While patience is the key to it, applying right strategy becomes vital because if you go wrong, the aggression becomes tenfold and then there's no turning back.
➡️Thats the reason why we get so many aggression retraining cases. The dogs either growled/attacked the trainer after which the clients called us to solve the issue.
➡️In this case, we first worked on obedience & structure indoors, then we worked on dog reactivity outdoors keeping the other dog at a distance, then we brought another untrained, reactive dog in the picture.
The results are in this video.

Certain dogs, especially if rescued, develop guarding traits due to past trauma which can be unnecessary & dangerous for the people around him.
➡️We often observe pet parents who all together avoid taking their fearful, growling dogs outside due to fear of attack pn passer-by people.
➡️While this is a temporary solution, doing this will further cause increment in both fear and aggression of the dog.
➡️As the dog matures with age, his personality will solidify, further adding fuel to the fire causing more frequent attacks on the pet parent as well as unknown people.
➡️In such cases, behavior rehabilitation using therapy and obedience structure curbs this fear, diminishing aggression traits and increasing the dog's exposure to the world which further develops his confidence.
➡️Thus, now the dog starts to enjoy roaming outside, sniffing trees, running behind cats and the fear and aggression further decreases as the dog's age grows.

The sessions we're always eager to conduct include pet parents. Why?
➡️ Because if we don't conduct sessions with parents, the dog will obey us as I have trained him and create the same everyday drama & tantrums with his parents because he thinks 'School is over now!'
➡️ Helping the parents understand how their dog thinks, teaching them how to read his body language, changing their reactions to the dog's unwanted behavior in a way that won't promote unwanted behavior to curb it are some of the outcomes of handover sessions with our clients.
➡️ This allows pet parents to communicate with their dogs easily instead of second-guessing what their dog is trying to say, avoiding confusion and any negative behavior the dog might exhibit because his demands weren't fulfilled.
.
Teddy is a sweetheart. When we started, he was all bitey(puppy behavior) and would bark if not given attention(again, puppy behavior).
His parents started his training at the right time and we quickly analysed that he has a headstrong personality.
Using therapy & reverse psychology, we have reached to this level in training which will further improve as we proceed.
But beware, if you have both Teddy & a watermelon in his vicinity, it's HIS watermelon, don't even try to touch it😂

Dogs, like children, have a tendency to take parents lightly. Why?
.
Reasons:
1. You have allowed & promoted tantrums since the pupper came in your life.
2. For instance, if a puppy jumps on you, you play with him but when he grows into a big dog and jumps on you, understand that you allowed him to jump as a puppy and he has that memory.
.
➡️ We train dogs, different breeds, different ages have different training techniques. You cannot take apply a single way of training on all dogs.
➡️ We try to get the best behavior out of the dog, each dog is different in this case as well.
➡️ We involve clients in the training. If the dog is obeying us as trainers, it is good; though after we go, if the dog is not obeying his owners, whats the point in training the dog?
.
With proper training from our side & adequate practice from owners, the dog gets trained like this.😀

When you force a dog to do things he has had traumatic experience with, you strengthen the negativity that the dog associates with the trauma.
.
➡️When I started training Oscar, the first thing he expected from me was that I will leash him and pull him outside his gate against his will.
➡️He was already shivering, lacked trust and was unwilling to even come closer to me.
➡️What I actually did was play with him. We never try to train a dog in minimum number of sessions, we always try to temperamentally balance him, and that takes more sessions.
➡️My first week with Oscar was a playfest. The trauma he had faced due to previous trainers made him a pressure cooker of fear which needed to be released.
➡️By the end of the first week, he was jumping on me, snatching treats off my hand & leaning on me for affection.
.
This is where I began training him. We gradually conquered his fear outside, step-by-step, while I knew not to surpass his threshold after which due to fear, he will only go in reverse. Knowing the limit to which such dogs should be pushed in a session is actually the key to ensure that you're not creating just another traumatic experience.
.
Oscar is still a work in progress but I believe he will do well this month😃♥️

A bundle of Joy!
The sweetest, temperamentally delicate pupper in our batch, it's a pleasure training Joy. Everytime we start training, there is a happy face, a wagging tail, an enthusiasm to obey and impress followed by a tantrum to get praise or a treat!😭🤣
.
Every dog has a potential upto which he/she can be trained. Joy is highly trainable although he was a bit sensitive temperamentally. In such cases, we focus on increasing the dog's confidence with surplus levels of praise even if he obeys just a simple sit command. Our body language is crucial asa bold body language can scare the dog off while a mellower body language will often help in avoiding increment in shyness of the puppy.

Hello all! After 21 needle pricks around his wound and a lot of pain, Shailesh sir is back.
_______________________________________
A few days back Shailesh sir got bit by a doggo student of ours. It has been a rough road since then as we have 4 batches of dogs and Shailesh sir was advised against going outside to avoid infection to the bone-deep wound on his hand.
_______________________________________
There are some profession-related hazards in dog training and this is one of them. A severe bite like this doesn't only disrupt personal life but also affects the professional life as he wasn't able to train dogs nor drive his car anymore.
_______________________________________
Life can be rough sometimes, but keeping a positive mind and maintaining your goal can really smoothen things up.
With gradual healing of his wound, things are falling back into place so I'll be posting a bit more now.

I'll let Bruno explain his own transformation through this video. Please have a look at it, hope you like it😃
P.S: We had only 1 and half month before he leaves India. It was a big job to be completed within a short time, but fortunately, Bruno's parent was very supportive & gave him more time to achieve our goal.
.
Explaining the psychology behind training Bruno;
➡️ Sit, down, stay was a secondary priority for me.
➡️ Helping him enjoy life without staying under constant fear & keeping his guard on was job 1 for me.
➡️ The hard part was training Bruno without him feeling controlled by someone; because if he felt that, he will agitate and express aggression at levels he has never shown.
➡️ The training had to be seamlessly integrated with playtime and that was the hard job we I succeeded in.
This is the result of therapy that has brought this transformation. I feel fortunate that I got a chance to help him enjoy his life to the fullest; his transformation is rewarding for me♥️

Definition of a trained dog?
A dog with a settled, calm mind that tries to impress you with his obedience & good behavior to gain praise in the form of physical touch, food or playtime.
.
➡️ If the dog runs away when you arrive, there is something wrong in the way you are teaching that dog.
➡️ A dog that loves his trainer never runs away when the trainer comes because that is disrespectful. Instead, the if dog tries to savor the moments he is with his trainer, you can say the dog is obeying 'Willingly'.
.
➡️Commands like sit, down and stay are a major part of obedience. But if the dog is not obeying willingly, he won't obey in the absence of treats.
.
Waghu loves me, makes a sad face when I leave,
obeys my commands, always tries to do something naughty but ensures that he is by my side and that is what really matters.

When trauma affects a puppy's life
.
Reasons for trauma:
1. Seperation from family
2. Spent a few days growling with his sister on the road
3. The first time Bhidu came in contact with humans, he was bathed as it was a necessity to avoid further infections
.
Reasons for training:
1. Then came into Bhidu's life his human family as angels and he was rescued.
2. Unfortunately, Bhidu growled on his mother and wouldn't allow humans to come closer, showing aggression at mere age of around 2/3 months.
.
Direction of training:
➡️The first thing we did was work on his trust issues and growling.
➡️When a growling puppy realises that humans fear his teeth, he may start to bite frequently to get things done his way.
➡️We performed therapies on Bhidu and his parents were curious enough to follow-through the things we advised them in order to make Bhidu bolder and a normal "Puppy".
➡️Gradually, we achieved excellent results behaviorwise and are working on his obedience now.
.
Aftermath of therapy:
➡️Bhidu plays with his parents, the relatives that visit him as well.
➡️Bhidu is curiously exploring the outdoors without fears he previously endured.
➡️He is able to obey "Stay" command for around 10 minutes which is a big thing for a puppy like him.
.
When we are able to help dogs like this using therapy, be it shy, aggressive or special cases, it fills our hearts with joy and passion to work harder. Nothing makes a dog trainer happy than watching his clients compliment their students♥️

🔰Teddy's leash got off and he ran in the middle of the road with heavy traffic. His parents used the recall command and off-leash, scared, 6 month old Teddy came and sat in front of the parent which saved his life.
🔰He used to jump on kitchen counters with the gas stove turned on because he wanted food, and would grab things off the dining table. Now, he sits on the ground and may request for a treat, but doesn't jump and grab.
🔰Also, Teddy doesn't jump/bite hands of guests who visit his house due to excitement but will brush against their legs demanding affection like a cat.
🔰He has tackled seperation anxiety like a champ.
Saving his life is one of the many things that dog training has helped achieve in case of our student Teddy & his parent's life.
.
➡️This was possible because we worked on Teddy's temperament using therapies & not jist taught him commands.
➡️ This is the result of a balanced, settled brain we achieved using therapy and the dog-to-handler eye-contact we taught Teddy during training.
.
.
This video is explains our client's feedback, 6 months after the training sessions were completed and we couldn't be more happier when we saw the enthusiasm with which our client has given the feedback...♥️

So, we met this jumpy, over-enthusiastic goofball one day after we finished with his brother Danny's training session. His parents requested us to initiate his training as well and thus began our journey with Scotch, one of the cutest doggos we had this year.
.
Scotch was over intrusiastic and lact structure and discipline. He always new how to get things done the way he wants to using his cute face. Basically they lacked the maturity a trained dog should otherwise have. We decided to bring that maturity through training using a therapies which was the main thing necessary in his case. The commands brought structure to his life while the therapies brought the level of maturity expected from him. Now the boys are behaving very well and parents are making sure to practice on a daily basis to make sure that the boys stay under control because believe me when I say maintaining a Golden Retriever with another Cane Corso can very difficult.

Meet June, our new student.
She is delicate, temperamental, shy, loving Doberman Pinscher with an "Always ready to play" attitude inside her house.
.
🔰Initially, when we met her, she was shivering, had trust issues and was even scared sometimes by strong winds.
🔰We decided that before focussing on commands, lets change her temperament. Because shy Dobermans can become aggressive if not socialised in puppyhood.
.
➡️We started working towards making her bold. ➡️Gradually, she started to & we allowed her to pull us while walks, jump on us, chase cats, sneak into our treat pouches, etc.
➡️ Now that she started behaving like a puppy should behave, we started introducing commands to her.
.
Today, the same Doberman that was so shy that she would not sit is obeying down-stay long distance & recall. Her training is still under progress but her temperament has taken a complete turn for the good which we actually wanted.😃

One of my favourite things when training a German Shepherd is teaching him to Guard his owner, territory & a particular object.
➡️The dedication, determination and agility these dogs show is really a show to watch for.
➡️We taught Freya Guarding as her owner wanted a German Shepherd for Guard purposes.
.
We have also trained their 1st dog(Cesar-Siberian Husky) a few years back which shows that our clients really trust us when it comes to training dogs which is a feeling that encourages us to work more & work better!☺️

Dog jumping on kitchen platform is a nightmare that many dog parents have. ➡️Some parents don't want their dogs jumping on beds, sofa, etc due to sanitary reasons or because the furniture is harder to clean.
➡️In such cases, the "NO" command & the "STAY" command works wonders.
The moment the dog jumps, the parent says "NO". The moment the dog falls back, the parent says "STAY".
➡️This teaches the dog that jumping/grabbing tbings off the kitchen counters is off the limits but he can stay there & accompany his mother.
➡️With repetition, the puppy/dog gradually stops repeating the action which we don't want.
➡️Training your dog commands doesn't ensure that your dog will obey them when the situation demands.
That is why, I train my clients along with their dogs to ensure that the commands are used in the dog's daily routine to teach the dog boundaries & limits.

Over the past (more than)5 years, Shailesh sir has always explained me the concept of temperament balancing, be it young puppers, aged dogs, aggressive or shy dogs.
I still remember the day when he first told me that "If you want to build a building with 15 floors, the buildings foundation should be deep & strong enough".
Here, we can compare the foundation to temperament of the dog and the building to commands & behavior of the dog as a result of temperament correction.
Anyways, watch me sweeping the floors while Teddy stays as apparently, this is a big problem in many households we visit. I just wanted to convey that after temperament balancing and teaching commands to a dog, they should be integrated in the dog's daily lifestyle so that pupper gets used to obeying them.
Hope you like it😃

So, you decided to get a puppy. There are two choices now, adopt a puppy or buy one. While we promote adopting Indies whenever someone asks us, we also understand that sometimes, people prioritize certain breeds.
The next part after selection of breeds is the size of the dog. Mostly, people living in apartments get apartment dogs and people living on farms or in bungalows get bigger sized dogs; for guarding purpose or because they wanted a big dog to cuddle with.
Many people often fail to understand that sometimes, smaller dogs may require exercise and mental stimulation more than bigger dogs. For example, a smaller Beagle hound can be an exercise freak with a bigger Great Dane can be a couch potato. While this example is often true, one should prioritize the study of breed’s temperament and exercise requirements before jumping on to the size of the dog.
Talking about the Beagle hound particularly, ever noticed the white part at the end of every beagle’s tail? That is because when these hounds hunt for hare in the forest, their noses are touching the ground while their anatomical topline and tail are up in the air like an arrow. The sunlight jumps off the white color, which helps the human track his beagles. Now, imagine a hunting dog in an apartment if he is not getting enough mental & physical stimulation, the situation will be chaotic.
We never say that mental stimulation will substitute physical stimulation, both of them go hand in hand. You fail balancing both of them and the dog is no more a balanced dog temperamentally in which case issues are bound to happen. We often blame the pupper for them but often times, we are responsible for them.
Writing all of this, I can definitely say that Jerry’s parent’s truly love him and are providing him the right mental & physical stimulation which led to such a balanced dog. We love him and admire such pupper parents for sure.

Contrary to popular perception, not all Indies make excellent guard dogs. Some of them are extremely shy. Rocky was a timid dog when we first began teaching him. We also provided him with various behavioural therapy in addition to obedience training. We are pleased to demonstrate how confident he has become.
