Her leg has been amputated, and while the journey to recovery hangs in the balance at 50/50.

To ensure she gets the specialized care she desperately needs, we're making a heartfelt plea for your support. We're in the process of moving her to a dedicated sanctuary, where she will receive the constant care and love she deserves for the rest of her life.

Yes, arrested!

But real justice would be served only when they go in for enough time to realise what horrific crime they did. And other accomplices to this crime in action or support are reprimanded too. And this becomes an example for animals haters to refrain from even laying a finger on poor creatures!

Releasing them on bail for pennies wouldn’t help!

This is the reason why animal welfare laws need to be implemented in a stricter sense.

Many times our fundraising request has been turned down and trolled by calling us with many names ,especially by trolls who have no idea how we manage.

What we do for animals in Kashmir is out of pure love and empathy. And yes, we aren't able to do much because of lack of space and resources. We can't reach each rescue and it pains us.

But we can't leave the fight.

We are fighting with administration to give us land for SPCA, we are trying to work with SMC to get sterilizations started area-wise if not citywide at the moment. And then there are rescues which never seem to end and we have to put a hold at times because it's unmanageable.

We are trying to raise money for ambulances which BTW hasn't gone beyond 3% in the last 2 months even though we shared extensively.

People associated with us try to help animals in their own capacity and we are thankful for each of our volunteers. Animal love is a special kind of love. It's selfless, it's resilient, it's determined.

But there also are people who claim to be animal lovers but when the hammer beats the iron, they run sideways!

We are also thankful to our followers, our donors and reporters who helped us reach a point where we are able to fight.

Together we can, together we must!

DONATION APPEAL

Miley is just 8 months old and in such a short span of her life she’s been to hell and back. She is paralyzed by hind limbs. We don’t know how that happened but when rescuers found her 3 months back with her kittens, she was dragging herself on the road, lactating and in pretty bad shape.

Her kittens got adopted but there was no home for Miley for reasons we know. That's when KAWFCares Co-Founder Nighat came to action and took her in. Miley’s backbone was broken due to which her legs are affected. She isn't able to walk and has to be worn diapers which causes much distress and discomfort to her.

Her recent diagnostic results aren’t so good. Her UREA, BUN and Creatinine value are high and she has developed hypothermia. We need to her to vet for the next 5-7 days.

We are raising 10K towards her treatment, tests and other expenses.

Help us cover her expenses so that we are able to save her. She already has gone through a lot and needs us by our side to pull through.

A mom was reported to us having given birth to a litter in a lane near residential areas. Her puppies were at risk, out in naked sun and she was quite protective of them so barking at residents, a behaviour quite common in mother dogs.

We moved them to a safer place nearby and built a make shift shelter for puppies. She calmed down down and so did they.

Stray relocation is a punishable offence under Indian Law. We as locals need to understand this simple fact. It's their habitat too and they have every right to live in it as do we.

There are ways to help them and help reduce the human-animal conflict.

- Feed them in areas farther to human settlements like open parks, unused lands etc. Avoid feeding in front of gates or house walls.

- Get them sterilized. SMC is responsible for carrying out Animal Birth Control programs within Srinagar. Get in touch with the correct team and ensure the dogs are picked and dropped at the same location. The process is free and you do not need to pay anything. Be aware of the same. It's easier to blame the administration for getting nothing done but believe us, the right approach helps a lot.

- Adopt a stray puppy/dog if you have enough space to keep them.

- Vaccinate/deworm your locality dogs to ensure they stay healthy and free of rabies.

What you choose from the above is completely dependent on your capacity but your willingness plays a central part in anything you do towards animals.

On this World Environment Day, let's resolve to refrain from activities that put our planet in distress or danger. Let's resolve to plant more trees, walk a little more, feed a hungry or thirsty animal, pick trash lying on the road or atleast avoid littering around.

Let's stop the greed and gluttony. Let's stop acting like we are here to live forever.

Two dogs were reported, one stuck on the rooftop of a hospital building and another under a tank in Hyderpora.

Thanks to the quick action by Srinagar Municipal Corporation & rescue work by Animal Rescue Kashmir , they are safe and back into their territory. ❤❤

How they reached on the top of the building or got stuck is unknown but we are happy that they are safe and nothing untoward befell them. Kudos to the rescue team for putting their life in danger to save them.

All is well, that ends well.

1. High Court passed an order asking the police to provide protection to dogs and dog feeders and has made it a PUNISHABLE OFFENCE IN CASE ANYONE RESTRICTS, PROHIBITS OR CAUSES INCONVENIENCE TO ANY PERSON FEEDING A STREET DOG OR RESORTS TO REMOVAL OR DISLOCATION OR KILLING A DOG.

2. SECTION 503:- Indian Penal Code 1860, provides that intimidation is a criminal offence which is cognizable. ANYONE WHO THREATENS OR INTIMIDATES ANY PERSON TAKING CARE OF DOGS IS LIABLE FOR CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION UNDER SECTION 503 OF INDIAN PENAL CODE AND CAN BE ARRESTED WITHOUT A WARRANT.

3. SECTION 506:- IT IS A CRIME TO THREATEN, ABUSE OR HARASS NEIGHBOURS WHO FEED ANIMALS.

4. I.P.C. Section 428 and 429 provides SEVERE PUNISHMENT (up to 5 years imprisonment) TO PEOPLE RESORTING TO DISLOCATION, ABDUCTION, AND ACTS OF CRUELTY towards community animals or pets.

5. Police act 1968, sections 73 to 79, 99 gives special powers to police to take action when an animal offence has been committed.

6. Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act makes all animal cruelty a criminal offence. Fines and imprisonment are both provided for. The Indian Penal Code has similar provisions.

7. The Animal Birth Control (Dog) Rules, 2001, enacted under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, provide for sterilization and vaccination as a means of stabilizing/reducing stray dog populations and eliminating the risk of rabies; and prohibits relocation of stray dogs, i.e. throwing, or driving them out of one area, into another. An order passed by the Supreme Court of India in this regard, which prohibits removal, dislocation or killing of all dogs.

8. Under Stray Dog Management Rules 2001, IT IS ILLEGAL FOR AN INDIVIDUAL, RWA or estate management to remove or relocate dogs. The dogs have to be sterilized and vaccinated and returned to the same area. Vaccinated and sterilized animals cannot be removed by the municipality too.

9. Ministry of Public Grievances notification and a similar notification by Animal Welfare Board of India to PROVIDE IMMUNITY TO ANIMAL FEEDERS AND RESTRICT and restrict government employees or bodies such as Resident Welfare Associations SOCIETIES FROM HARASSING PEOPLE WHO FEED OR HELP ANIMALS.

10. The Supreme Court of India gave a similar stay order against removal culling or dislocation of a dog anywhere in India.

*Article 51-A (g) states - " It shall be duty of every citizen of India to protect & improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures." So the animal lover is protected under the Constitution.

*Article 19 of the Constitution of India, deals with right to freedom and in this freedom comes the right to profession, occupation, trade and business which means that if someone has taken the caring of animals as his occupation, it is legal and he has every right to carry on with his occupation.

*Article 21 of the Constitution of India states the right to personal life and liberty. If someone wants to feed and provide shelter to dogs, he is at liberty to do so. He has the same right to liberty that the law provides to every citizen of India.

Such human is not only dangerous for animals but for small kids , elderly women and those who can’t defend themselves .

We received this video of a person from old Baramulla ra**ng a street dog.

We sprung into action and filed a complaint vide section 377 IPC 11(1) under Animal Cruelty Act 1960 post which police registered an FIR against the perpetuator and executed an arrest.

Such people are a blot to our culture in particular and humanity at large and such acts are unacceptable against animals as much as against humans in the eyes of law.

We thank our Baramulla volunteers for their relentless efforts and the reporter for his mindfulness to shoot such an act in real time and his courage to report the case to us.

Together, we strive to bring justice to stray animals in the valley and fight for their right to a good life.

We are raising 5k towards supplies and upkeep on 4 puppies (5 didn't survive 😞) and 3 dogs.

The money goes towards buying puppy handraise supplies like milk replacement, probiotics etc and some meds for our recuperating dogs.

Our dedicated foster parent, Hilal, singlehandedly handraising 9 orphan pups.

No one came forward to foster so we didn't have a choice. We couldn't leave them on road to die in absence of their mother.

When we rescue, all we think of is saving a life, what happens beyond we leave to Him. He gives us the courage and resources to keep moving and keep helping more animals.
