If a dog can function properly on his obedience in spite of all the distractions around without any kind of Luring or Bribing(with treats) and also without the repetitive use of tools, I call that a Functional Obedience.
Almost 99% of dogs know Sit, down and stays. But it's rarely functional. Meaning, those same dogs who ace inside home or in a sterile environment (where there is no actual Distraction) fail in the real world to even llisten or look to their owners.
If your dog is one of them, it's time to rev up the training process.
A dog that isn't trained in the real world for functionality will often struggle to live a fulfilled life. You actually cannot allow that dog to be a dog in a human world because we didn't challenge and push his abilities. Resulting in the dog making wrong choices.
Life becomes too monotonous, limited and small. Ultimately a very sad life for the dog.
A dog needs to Run, explore, play, chase, sniff and do the doggy things. But those can only be allowed in full potential only when he knows how to respect the handler and understands that there are obligations to things that is being asked for.
When I say this, I get a lot of hate. People think I'm Cruel and Aggressive trainer. Why? Because I tell the truth and not cherry picked, sugar coated lie.
But, if you're an owner who aims to have a wonderful life both for themselves and the dog you're in the right place. Here you'll only find info about actual pet dog training and not ideologies and emotional drama which makes you feel good but the dog struggles for a long long time before you see any change (most of the time, there's no change at all)
Best thing is, most dogs can be trained by their owners at home with the right guidance and tools.

As a dog trainer, I'm sharing three common mistakes(Silent abuse) to avoid for a happier, healthier pup!
*Fake Walks: The 5-Minute Fiasco*
Are you guilty of taking your dog out for a "walk" that lasts only 5 minutes? As soon as they do their business, you head back home. Dogs need physical and mental stimulation. A short walk can lead to boredom, destructive behavior, and pent-up energy. Give your dog the exercise they deserve!
*Forced Affection: Respect Boundaries*
Not all dogs love hugs and kisses. In fact, most dogs don't enjoy forced affection. Respect their personal space and boundaries. Forcing physical contact can lead to anxiety, fear, and even aggression. Let's prioritize their comfort and consent.
*The Obesity Epidemic: Take Action*
Obesity is a growing concern for our canine friends. Overfeeding and lack of exercise can lead to serious health issues. As a responsible dog parent, it's crucial to monitor your dog's food intake and ensure they get regular exercise. Let's keep our dogs fit, happy, and healthy!
Share your thoughts! What are some other common mistakes we can avoid as dog parents?

Unless you do these things we're (Dog Trainers) not going to grow.
Get a power breed. Do the things that trainers warn you against.
Then send your dogs to us for repairing the damages done by you. Sit back relaxed and expect everything would be served on a platter. It's going to fail anyway.
Try again with another trainer blaming the previous one.
Repeat👍

Would you repeat this at home?
Crate training is the foundation of any behaviour modifications. It gives the dog Structure, a physical boundary and lots of time to relax (a dog needs 16-18hrs of sleep unlike 8hrs of sleep as humans)
It is a very methodical process where the dog is taught to calm down and relax inside the crate.
To understand, why dogs love the crate if trained properly is because they are naturally den animals. Well, at least their ancestors were. The grey wolf with whom our pets share their DNA with were den animals.
You'd often find your pet choosing a corner in the house. Maybe below the bed, behind the sofa or something of that sort. When we train dogs for crates we provide that corner to our dogs instead of them choosing random spots.
Hence after sometime the dog starts associating crates to calmness and relaxation.
The results and benefits you and your dog gets are huge.
Working on Separation anxiety, Excitedness, Jumping/Barking on guests, Sunta nahi hain wala issue and many more. Try incorporating the crate in training. You can thank me later 🙂

When I started the training thing, I only wanted it to be functional for me and my dogs. I never was interested in the commands or the beautification or visual perfection of it. I wanted the training to be functional. I didn't want my dogs to be Circus clowns. I wanted them to be free.
Freedom is important to me as well.
It didn't take me long to figure out that just working on obedience and perfecting it won't give my dogs the kind of freedom or life I wanted for them.
Jaggi(the GSD) was my lab rat. I tried many training techniques with him. Some were mistakes, while many were great. Now when I look back to our starting days, I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me. He has been my Guardian Angel since he came.
Once ridiculed by a Senior Vet for the genetic issues he had, in front of a bunch of vet students. While an 8week old Jaggi lying in Operation table for his eye's skin scraping surgery.
Jaggi turned out to be a well balanced confident dog. More than a moderately healthy one as well. Of course he has his joint issues now. He's 11yo.
I'm sure, Jaggi thanks me for the life I've given him. Dogs are simple beings, you know.
If given a chance again, I'll train him the same way I trained him earlier. Just that, I know a little better now from when I started.
Ballu's story is for another post👍
