Blood donation is considered an extremely noble deed not only in the human world but also in the animal kingdom.

We see plenty of dogs/ cats that are in urgent need of blood but due to lack of a organised network of blood donors it becomes very difficult to reach out in times of need.

In an effort to ease this struggle, we have prepared a small questionnaire that’ll help us reach out to potential donors when the need arises.

Let’s stay united in this journey and ensure every pet that needs blood has access to it.

If your pet fulfils the following criteria:
1. More than 30 kgs
2. Less than 8yrs of age
3. Dewormed and Vaccinated regularly
4. No history of vector borne disease in the recent past

Filariasis is a vector borne infection spread by mosquitoes. Recently at we had two cases, one which presented with a cutaneous worm and one which had formed a mass around the worm and was diagnosed on fine needle aspirate cytology ( FNAC).

Dirofilaria repens is a organism that spreads by the bite of mosquitoes and also can affect humans. In dogs it’s practically non-pathogenic but in humans it settles in the eye ball. A few cases have been reported in Mumbai.

They say diagnosis is the first step to treatment. A big thank you to and Dr. Gatne for being by our side and helping us to diagnose such unusual cases.
