It’s heartbreaking to see greyhounds suffering painful injuries or losing their lives. In my report ‘Injuries in Racing Greyhounds’ found at https://AndrewKnight.info > reports, I delve into this issue.

“No dog should live a miserable existence, become injured or die for sport. But according to statistics published by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain, over 26,000 injuries were suffered and 2,700 greyhounds died in England and Wales between 2018 and 2023.” - Blue cross.

Another pressing matter is the fate of injured greyhounds or those not performing fast enough. Many are euthanised right at the track after getting hurt. Moreover, retired greyhounds become a challenge for rescue centres already at full capacity. These former racing dogs have been conditioned to chase, making it difficult to find them new homes, especially in households with smaller animals like cats and wildlife. They also suffer from ‘sleep startle’.

Let’s advocate to end gambling on innocent animal lives and instead promote ethical human activities and sports that don’t harm animals. 🙏
