Dear fellow animal lovers...a pretty strange request I'm sure, but here goes...Just over a week ago I've had to say goodbye to one of my children, cat child that is...I am heartbroken, I feel a huge knot in my stomach, a lump in my throat, an emptyness in the house and so on. I'm sure some of you can relate. Besides trying to deal with my own pain I'm also being confronted with my other cats pain (they were sisters). They were incredible buddies, almost twin-like and my other cat is desperately lost without her yin....searching for her at night, during the day, basically not so much enjoying the days as she used to. I am aware of cat behavior after losing a cat member of the family and I realise it is still very fresh, hopefully time will heal...
My question is: is there someone out there with a calm, quiet, lover of laying in the sun and catloving dog who needs looking after at times?
My cat is used to (ocassionally) having those type of dogs around the house and I think it would give her some distraction and lighten up her spirits a bit..just so that void is filled...I am not planning to adopt another cat (or dog) so we will have to just get through this, just looking for options..Thank you for your feedback, thoughts on this..

*UP FOR ADOPTION*
Please take a moment to read and try to really feel&imagine the situation.

Domino's human passed away at the respectful age of 101 years old!

No one from her family has wanted to take Domino and care for him. He was left behind in the apartment for 15 days before anyone even noticed him. Luckily a caring neighbour had been feeding him but it has all been very traumatising for Domino 😟.

Domino is 7 years old and has only known life living in an apartment together with his human.

As mentioned before, this sudden change of his peaceful life has shaken him badly...understandably so. He needs time and patience to regain confidence and shake of this trauma.
He is currently being cared for in a loving foster home where he is very much enjoying a new part of his life, outdoor life!!
We would love to find him a forever home with no other animals and the possiblity to go outside, even a green, sunny balcony would do 😉. Domino only deserves the best for the rest of his life. He's only half way...
Please contact [email protected] or call 0689689212 if interested!

Hi all. Using my pet-matters FB page to introduce you to Merlina. A beautiful, black female cat ready to be adopted through Les chats du Mercantour....Are you ready to learn more about Merlina and fall in love 😻?

Merlina is a beautiful 3 year old, super healthy and all black female 🐱. She is a typical, what we call in French, chatchien - or rather 'a cat acting like a dog type cat' in English 😉 - meaning she will follow her human around everywhere (bye bye solo toilet visits 😊😂). She therefor requires a home where her people are present most of the time.

Merlina absolutely adores cuddles and will reward you in return with many super calming purring sounds, she is a real purring machine, say bye bye to lockdown stress! She prefers to be the single most important member of the household (can you blame her?) so no other animals nor (young) children.

Ofcourse Merlina would loooove a garden so she can tell you all about her daily outdoor adventures, she is rather talkative so we need you to speak and understand cat language to be able to enjoy her stories 😉.

We think Merlina is a real gem and are convinced you will feel the same once you've met her!!
* Merlina is a non pedigree, European short hair
* Born 01/01/2018
* Dewormed & sterilised
* Tested negative for FeLV (Feline leukemia) and FIV (Feline AIDS).
* Health certificate will be provided by our vet

If Merlina has tugged at your heart strings, how can she not have?.... Please contact me, Jo, on [email protected] or call/whats app on 0689689212.

Soooo those of you who know me, know that I am a huge (wild) animal lover and in particular have a soft spot for cats (and dogs and birds and and and 🙂 I am owned by two cats myself, Clownie and Tw***ie or Brownie and Twinkle they were called when I adopted them nearly 13 years ago from the association Les chats du Mercantour.
I adopted them after fostering for a while. They came to me at 6 months old straight from one of the mountain villages in the Mercantour and were absolutely terrified of everything to do with humans, including sounds&images coming out of the tv, scooters, street noise, men's voices, the vet, planes flying over and just noise in general. The human touch was unknown to them as they had been pretty much living a feral live for the first 6 months of their lives and most of their human encounters involved stones being thrown at them. My job as a foster was getting them used to modern world every day life and make sure they would finally pur out of love and not out of fear.....
Being a foster family is a big responsibility, but oh so very rewarding!!!! I will never forget the first time they came out of their hiding spot (which was a rowing machine of all places) 2 weeks after arriving at my place.
I enjoyed every single minute of convincing them humans can be ok and if you train your human correctly 🙂 domestic cat life becomes super comfy: doors will be opened for you, chin and belly rubs on demand, snuggle up under blanket on humans bed every morning, food fed in a nice clean bowl twice a day and so on......
There are many types of cats that need foster homes: kittens, (wild) young adults, older cats and so on but all have in common that they've had a rough start in life.
I have recently started as a volunteer at Les chats du Mercantour and they are desperately looking for FOSTER FAMILIES!! Time is ticking as the kitten sea*on is about to start. Besides kitten care Les chats du Mercantour are also looking for people who are interested in fostering older cats. Fostering cats does by no means mean you must adopt them as well (thats just what I did, oops). Fostering is a temporary agreement between you and the association. You do need to be committed, serious and responsible of course.
Please please consider registering (and dedicating) yourself as a foster home, no better time than now, seeing most people are working from home! Purrrrfect situation. For more information about the association go to:
www.leschatsdumercantour.com and for more info on how to become a foster home you can email me on
[email protected] or [email protected]

What are the main causes of joint issues in dogs? Whilst each dog&case is unique there are some common causes and knowing and reading about them could help you become more aware, so here goes:

Hip Dysplasia
Hip dysplasia is a condition where a dog’s hip socket has not properly formed. This results in joint damage and arthritis in dogs due to the ill fit. Because the bone doesn't fit into the socket properly, it can create pain, inflammation, and irritation from the rubbing. A few signs of arthritis in dogs include change of behavior, limping or whimpering. Although any breed of dog can be affected with this condition, it is often seen in German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Newfoundland, and Labrador Retrievers. Hip dysplasia is considered a genetic condition that can be passed down the line and inherited by their offspring. However, other factors such as obesity or insufficient levels of exercise can speed up the onset. Additionally, though this condition can occur at any time any dog's life, it appears to be more common in older dogs and related to the aging process.

Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis in older dogs is caused by natural degeneration due to wear and tear on the joints. Dogs can suffer from this wear and tear with any joint in their body, including their elbows, shoulders, knees, back, and hips.

Panosteitis
Panosteitis is common, and is the result of inflammation on the surface of a dog’s long bones. Panosteitis is sometimes referred to as “growing pains”, as the condition appears to be related to rapid growth, especially in younger, larger dogs. Lameness can affect more than one leg bone, and shift from one leg to another.

These are some of the most common causes. As mentioned before, always see your vet, but being aware and informed may help you recognize early symptoms.

Our Dog Joint&Mobility supplement supports healthy and flexible joints, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect & supports the immune system. For more information and ingredient list visit our website: www.horseandpetnutrition.com

COMMON HIP&JOINT PROBLEMS IN DOGS -WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Occasionally, you may notice your dog appears to be moving a bit more slowly than normal, or perhaps even limping. Often, this is due to some sort of hip or joint discomfort your dog is experiencing. Dogs can develop hip and joint problems at any age, and it doesn’t matter whether they are young or old, or whether they are tiny or big. Some breeds may be more prone to hip and joint problems than others, and older dogs are more often affected simply due to age and the natural deterioration of joint and bone health, but hip and joint pain doesn’t discriminate in choosing its victims. Though joint discomfort in the hips seems to be the most common area, dogs can suffer in their shoulders, knees, and elbows too. Some dogs may even develop stiffness in the joints between their spinal vertebrae. It is important to properly diagnose the source of your dog’s discomfort to effectively treat it. In some cases, it may never be fully eradicated, and treatment will encompass managing your dog’s discomfort over the long-term.
Our "DOG JOINT & MOBILITY" supplement supports healthy and flexible joints, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect and supports the immune system and can be given from a young age onwards. Forming strong bones and cartilage during growth is extremely important, and may prevent expensive future vet treatments.
In our next post we will focus on causes of hip and joint issues in dogs. In the meantime check out our website www.horseandpetnutrition.com for more information and to place your order!

Hello all! I would like to ask a couple of minutes of your time to read below Very Important Announcement if you want the best (and I know you all want that) for your fur friend. I know it's hot out there but reading is a non sweaty activity ;) here goes....

Pet Matters has been officially closed now for nearly 3 months. I miss the doggie interaction but have also thoroughly enjoyed a summer with plenty of time for human interaction, yoga and wine ;), it's all about balance in life!
As mentioned in our last post some exciting animal health related news coming up, and coming up tout de suite to be precise (drum roll.......)
ps the **** stand for the product name. There seem to be new rules in place on here and I cant write the full name. Its pa dri nox without the spaces obviously! Happy reading 😎

I am now the official **** animal health care dealer in the SoF. **** products are 100% natural animal health care products. Originating from horse care, **** have now added dog care products to their very succesful animal health care line, and to be more specific DOG (and horses) JOINT CARE, amongst other animal health care products.

During my 10 years of running PM we have encountered many (too many) dogs suffering from joint related issues caused by a variety of issues but often breed related. Hip and elbow dyplasia are commonly seen in labradors, shepherds, rottweilers, boxers and many more, mainly bigger, breeds.
Excess weight, wrong type of exercise or old age may trigger the problem, but more often it starts as early on as puppy age, or even worse, the problem may already be present at the breeder where the puppy has come from.

We have witnessed many of our guest-dogs in pain due to this condition, heartbreaking AND unnecessary so naturally I was keen to get involved in this 100% natural joint care product, right up my street!!

* To help keep your best friends bones&muscles in the best possible condition * To help your growing pup forming healthy bones, to help your elderly dog loose a bit of stiffness * use **** HIGH CLASS DOG SUPPLEMENT

One of the most important ingredients in this supplement is collagen type 2. Collagen plays a very important role in growing and maintaining a healthy cartilage formation, which in turn will keep helping your dogs hip&elbow and other main joints as subtle as possible and may help prevent HD/ED which in turn will avoid high vet bills in the future!!! WIN/WIN

A healthy dog is a happy dog, sounds cheesy but very true.
Your pet matters!!
For more info contact me on jo@****.com (or the old [email protected] email address is still active too).

The next post will be about ****' amazing dog shampoo (anti bacterial, natural flea repellent, anti wet dog smell (unless if you're a fan of that ;).

Thank you for taking the time to read the LONGEST post ever!!! Time for a dip now. Look forward to hearing from you!

Soooo, funnily enough yesterday was the official 'Pet Matters closes her doors day' and at the same time the 1st day since looong time I planned a dog walk with one of ex-PM long term customers, Jenny, Jamie&Nuggie 😍.

So not to confuse you, PM is officially no longer operating. However, I am still available for the odd dog/pet sitting job, the odd boarding job (accepting cat friendly dogs only) & odd walking jobs (all against a small(er) fee). You all know how to reach me!

More exciting animal health related news following, so watch this space 🤗

Ater spending 3 weeks in Holland we are back in France 🗺. Oh what joy it gives me to do my early morning rounds through the garden. All the hard work (sowing seeds can hardly be called hard work 🤣) is paying off. Happy bees, ladybugs & other insects, happy tummy 😉 nothing better than fresh basil or rosemary (a*o) on your dish and happy p***y cats (brought back some catnip from Holland 😉).
Taco has returned to his hooman Pelly in the UK after more than 2 months of co care between Gracia and myself 💖. Happy days 🐞🦋🐝🐈
I hope everyone came out of this unsettled period ok and I'm hoping to see many of you soon on one of the FRA or possibly one off PMwalkies!

Ready for my online yoga class plus 3 🐕🐱🐱....Guestdog Taco present on mat 😄, Clownie high up on her sofa throne and invisible Tw***ie under the grey blanket because it's freezing cold here in the SoF (not really 😂).
Thanks from all the way from Oz for a great, sweaty morning workout 💖.

More happy pet pics today!
🐱🐈🐵🐏🐮. How is everyone coping? What does your daily routine look like, feel free to share. PM will continue to post happy pics, special circumstances ask for special measurements, though closing our doors @ 1st of June remains the plan. But who knows in those crazy days....the future is uncertain 🤔.
Day by day! Keep sane, keep healthy,
Take in those sun rays, told you spring was on her way 😉🤗

🌞🌞 So a couple of weeks ago I mentioned one final post would follow after my announcement PM is closing her doors this year.
The post I had in mind is not going to happen now for obvious rea*ons (I was planning on organising a 'goodbye et à bientôt walk' 🐾 as I would love to see so many of you and your furries one last time).
So instead Im posting some happy, colourful pics. Taco is my only guestdog at the moment as his hooman Pelly is kind of stuck on holiday 🙄....He can stay as long as needed and I thoroughly enjoy our little outings twice a day!
Keep sane everyone, use common sense, don't get too carried away, this too will pass, albeit maybe not 100%....
Have a great day, spring is on her way to cheer us all up!
Please feel free to post a picture of something little that puts a smile on your face, could be anything....a butterfly, wild spring flowers, your pet, child, partner- anything! 🐎🐔👯‍♀️👫🐝🦋
À bientôt 🤗

Coming up....real news....

It is with a heavy heart to announce that PM
will cease doing business from the 1st of June 2020 after 10 years of running&being a succesfull pet care company on the Côte d'Azur.

The decision has been made final after a couple of turbulent months in which the move to a new facility has been the most challenging.

From June onwards I will, always on request, occasionally care for dogs on location and exceptionally at the house. I'm aiming to stick to the 2 weeks open/2 weeks closed set up as that works very well for both customer and myself (longer care periods may always be requested by email), but as Jo and no longer PM. A compensation for my care will still be applicable. I will have the necessary insurance in place but dog owners are always the end responsible party.

I want to thank each and everyone of our loyal customers for believing in our concept 10 years ago and helping us make PM a succesful, healty (and happy) business.

We are not disapearing of the face of the earth 😉 so I am sure we will bump into eachother regularly, live or via social media. Feel free to contact me for any questions, comments you may have or call just for a chat, always welcome! The email addresses remain the same and my private phone number too. The PM phone number will be canceled in the next 6 months.

Maybe there is still somebody out there who wants to take over this beautiful business (with my help!) and continue to offer tailor made, reliable pet care, I really hope so, we all know there is a high demand for it in this region! For enquiries please email on [email protected]

For now....au revoir, à bientôt, it has been a great pleasure! Keep in touch and watch this space for one final post soon...😘😘

C'est les vacances en France 🌞 and the sun is shining, it makes us all so happy lalaladiladila 😉🎶🎵, Friday fun day!

A quick update on doggie care @ PM. We've been back to see puppy Lola (my, she's grown in two weeks!) Cared for daycare regulars Pedro&Hugo and long time boarders Taco, Jack&Leo. We are trying to make the new place work, time will tell... 🤗.
In the meantime, we are still looking for a (business) partner, and/or someone interested in taking over, all in good time! Feel free to send us an email at [email protected].

What I'm doing today is private puppy care on location 🐶. Puppies require time, patience, guidance, company, lessons to be learned, love and lots of sleep too. Having a pup is FUN but can be tiring too, it's ok to say! Broken nights, toilet breaks, accidents in-house....if you need a break, just a little one 😉 and don't feel comfortable leaving pup home alone, PM can come to your home and spend time with pup whilst you enjoy some me time, enter Lola 😍, check pics for cuteness!
Besides falling in love with Lola, Womble, Maya&Vivi have kept us company, nice to see them again. Joined the FRA walkies too, getting back into the swing of thing 🤗
Enjoy this warm, sunny abeit windy Tuesday!

22/01/2020

After a long stint of silence, Pet Matters are back online and back in business in a slightly different format than you are used to from us.

From January 2020 - April 2020 not much will change. We are taking care of our regular boarders/daycare doggies as per normal and taking our new 2 week open 2 week closed rotation into account.

In May we are closed for one month. From June 2020 we are shifting our core business from boarding to doggie daycare&pet sitting activities. Please read on for some more important changes:

1) PM will only continue to work with existing 'boarding' customers,
2) PM will be available for private pet sitting jobs, welcoming new customers for this service.
3) PM will be operating on a smaller scale as before.
4) PM core business will shift from boarding to daycare
5) PM will still accept the odd boarder(s), with a slight preference for cat-loving dogs ;) and of course our loyal long termers will be welcome too, though we can no longer accept 'barkers'.
6) PM are fully booked for January/February. Still some space for March and April.

7) Last but surely not least….For future continuation, Pet Matters are looking for a suitable business partner who, in the future, can take over the business. For more information please send your email to: [email protected]

Our summer planning from June will be announced shortly!
We can imagine you may have many questions. Feel free to call (06.17.05.97.80) or email [email protected]
A bientôt tout le monde 🐈🐱🐩🐕🐶

Good morning to all. My observant followers may have noticed PM has been very quiet, at least on social media 😉. There is, ofcourse a good rea*on for that.
As some of you already know, due to unforseen (and unexpected) circumstances, we have been notified to leave our home and facility in Biot. These things happen in life but the timing is not great, to say the least with the upcoming busy Xmas period. Luckily our Xmas bookers all managed to find alternative care over Xmas and again I wish to thank them for their understanding 💖

The next month or so will be used to settle into a new place and get ready for 2020. All bookings made for next year will, as it stands at the moment, go ahead taking the 2 week open/closed rotation into account as announced a while back.

We want to thank all of our loyal customers for trusting us caring for your most loved family member(s) 🐩🐺 for all those years. We do it with love, passion, knowledge and well, love mostly 😉.

Updates on our situation will be done on FB and/ or via personal phone call.
