Dear fellow animal lovers...a pretty strange request I'm sure, but here goes...Just over a week ago I've had to say goodbye to one of my children, cat child that is...I am heartbroken, I feel a huge knot in my stomach, a lump in my throat, an emptyness in the house and so on. I'm sure some of you can relate. Besides trying to deal with my own pain I'm also being confronted with my other cats pain (they were sisters). They were incredible buddies, almost twin-like and my other cat is desperately lost without her yin....searching for her at night, during the day, basically not so much enjoying the days as she used to. I am aware of cat behavior after losing a cat member of the family and I realise it is still very fresh, hopefully time will heal...
My question is: is there someone out there with a calm, quiet, lover of laying in the sun and catloving dog who needs looking after at times?
My cat is used to (ocassionally) having those type of dogs around the house and I think it would give her some distraction and lighten up her spirits a bit..just so that void is filled...I am not planning to adopt another cat (or dog) so we will have to just get through this, just looking for options..Thank you for your feedback, thoughts on this..

*UP FOR ADOPTION*
Please take a moment to read and try to really feel&imagine the situation.

Domino's human passed away at the respectful age of 101 years old!

No one from her family has wanted to take Domino and care for him. He was left behind in the apartment for 15 days before anyone even noticed him. Luckily a caring neighbour had been feeding him but it has all been very traumatising for Domino 😟.

Domino is 7 years old and has only known life living in an apartment together with his human.

As mentioned before, this sudden change of his peaceful life has shaken him badly...understandably so. He needs time and patience to regain confidence and shake of this trauma.
He is currently being cared for in a loving foster home where he is very much enjoying a new part of his life, outdoor life!!
We would love to find him a forever home with no other animals and the possiblity to go outside, even a green, sunny balcony would do 😉. Domino only deserves the best for the rest of his life. He's only half way...
Please contact [email protected] or call 0689689212 if interested!

Hi all. Using my pet-matters FB page to introduce you to Merlina. A beautiful, black female cat ready to be adopted through Les chats du Mercantour....Are you ready to learn more about Merlina and fall in love 😻?

Merlina is a beautiful 3 year old, super healthy and all black female 🐱. She is a typical, what we call in French, chatchien - or rather 'a cat acting like a dog type cat' in English 😉 - meaning she will follow her human around everywhere (bye bye solo toilet visits 😊😂). She therefor requires a home where her people are present most of the time.

Merlina absolutely adores cuddles and will reward you in return with many super calming purring sounds, she is a real purring machine, say bye bye to lockdown stress! She prefers to be the single most important member of the household (can you blame her?) so no other animals nor (young) children.

Ofcourse Merlina would loooove a garden so she can tell you all about her daily outdoor adventures, she is rather talkative so we need you to speak and understand cat language to be able to enjoy her stories 😉.

We think Merlina is a real gem and are convinced you will feel the same once you've met her!!
* Merlina is a non pedigree, European short hair
* Born 01/01/2018
* Dewormed & sterilised
* Tested negative for FeLV (Feline leukemia) and FIV (Feline AIDS).
* Health certificate will be provided by our vet

If Merlina has tugged at your heart strings, how can she not have?.... Please contact me, Jo, on [email protected] or call/whats app on 0689689212.

Soooo those of you who know me, know that I am a huge (wild) animal lover and in particular have a soft spot for cats (and dogs and birds and and and 🙂 I am owned by two cats myself, Clownie and Tw***ie or Brownie and Twinkle they were called when I adopted them nearly 13 years ago from the association Les chats du Mercantour.
I adopted them after fostering for a while. They came to me at 6 months old straight from one of the mountain villages in the Mercantour and were absolutely terrified of everything to do with humans, including sounds&images coming out of the tv, scooters, street noise, men's voices, the vet, planes flying over and just noise in general. The human touch was unknown to them as they had been pretty much living a feral live for the first 6 months of their lives and most of their human encounters involved stones being thrown at them. My job as a foster was getting them used to modern world every day life and make sure they would finally pur out of love and not out of fear.....
Being a foster family is a big responsibility, but oh so very rewarding!!!! I will never forget the first time they came out of their hiding spot (which was a rowing machine of all places) 2 weeks after arriving at my place.
I enjoyed every single minute of convincing them humans can be ok and if you train your human correctly 🙂 domestic cat life becomes super comfy: doors will be opened for you, chin and belly rubs on demand, snuggle up under blanket on humans bed every morning, food fed in a nice clean bowl twice a day and so on......
There are many types of cats that need foster homes: kittens, (wild) young adults, older cats and so on but all have in common that they've had a rough start in life.
I have recently started as a volunteer at Les chats du Mercantour and they are desperately looking for FOSTER FAMILIES!! Time is ticking as the kitten season is about to start. Besides kitten care Les chats du Mercantour are also looking for people who are interested in fostering older cats. Fostering cats does by no means mean you must adopt them as well (thats just what I did, oops). Fostering is a temporary agreement between you and the association. You do need to be committed, serious and responsible of course.
Please please consider registering (and dedicating) yourself as a foster home, no better time than now, seeing most people are working from home! Purrrrfect situation. For more information about the association go to:
www.leschatsdumercantour.com and for more info on how to become a foster home you can email me on
[email protected] or [email protected]
Feel free to share share share, a bientot!

What are the main causes of joint issues in dogs? Whilst each dog&case is unique there are some common causes and knowing and reading about them could help you become more aware, so here goes:

Hip Dysplasia
Hip dysplasia is a condition where a dog’s hip socket has not properly formed. This results in joint damage and arthritis in dogs due to the ill fit. Because the bone doesn't fit into the socket properly, it can create pain, inflammation, and irritation from the rubbing. A few signs of arthritis in dogs include change of behavior, limping or whimpering. Although any breed of dog can be affected with this condition, it is often seen in German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Newfoundland, and Labrador Retrievers. Hip dysplasia is considered a genetic condition that can be passed down the line and inherited by their offspring. However, other factors such as obesity or insufficient levels of exercise can speed up the onset. Additionally, though this condition can occur at any time any dog's life, it appears to be more common in older dogs and related to the aging process.

Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis in older dogs is caused by natural degeneration due to wear and tear on the joints. Dogs can suffer from this wear and tear with any joint in their body, including their elbows, shoulders, knees, back, and hips.

Panosteitis
Panosteitis is common, and is the result of inflammation on the surface of a dog’s long bones. Panosteitis is sometimes referred to as “growing pains”, as the condition appears to be related to rapid growth, especially in younger, larger dogs. Lameness can affect more than one leg bone, and shift from one leg to another.

These are some of the most common causes. As mentioned before, always see your vet, but being aware and informed may help you recognize early symptoms.

Our Dog Joint&Mobility supplement supports healthy and flexible joints, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect & supports the immune system. For more information and ingredient list visit our website: www.horseandpetnutrition.com

COMMON HIP&JOINT PROBLEMS IN DOGS -WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Occasionally, you may notice your dog appears to be moving a bit more slowly than normal, or perhaps even limping. Often, this is due to some sort of hip or joint discomfort your dog is experiencing. Dogs can develop hip and joint problems at any age, and it doesn’t matter whether they are young or old, or whether they are tiny or big. Some breeds may be more prone to hip and joint problems than others, and older dogs are more often affected simply due to age and the natural deterioration of joint and bone health, but hip and joint pain doesn’t discriminate in choosing its victims. Though joint discomfort in the hips seems to be the most common area, dogs can suffer in their shoulders, knees, and elbows too. Some dogs may even develop stiffness in the joints between their spinal vertebrae. It is important to properly diagnose the source of your dog’s discomfort to effectively treat it. In some cases, it may never be fully eradicated, and treatment will encompass managing your dog’s discomfort over the long-term.
Our "DOG JOINT & MOBILITY" supplement supports healthy and flexible joints, has a strong anti-inflammatory effect and supports the immune system and can be given from a young age onwards. Forming strong bones and cartilage during growth is extremely important, and may prevent expensive future vet treatments.
In our next post we will focus on causes of hip and joint issues in dogs. In the meantime check out our website www.horseandpetnutrition.com for more information and to place your order!
