Did you know Spirit recently turned 29?
The horse that inspired the character Spirit in the film is a living horse who is currently 29 years old. DreamWorks selected Spirit as a young colt when he was merely a foal. He was born to a stallion and mare that were captured by the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon. Spirit exemplifies the Kiger mustang breed, characterized by his striking features, including wide-set eyes and a thick, wavy mane and tail of multiple colors, which influenced the animated portrayal that continues to enchant audiences today.

In reality, Spirit embodies the mission of his animated counterpart by advocating for the conservation of wild horses and their natural environments. He resides at a sanctuary where he not only enjoys interactions with humans but also acts as a prominent ambassador for wild horses, motivating young individuals globally to understand the significance of America's mustangs and the necessity of freedom and protection for all equines. Spirit lives at the Return to Freedom sanctuary in Santa Barbara County, where he roams across 300 acres of unspoiled California pasture. Although he was raised among humans from an early age, those who know him well remark on his spirited nature, which is reminiscent of his animated persona.

He plays an essential role in the sanctuary by educating the public about his breed and advocating for the safeguarding of America’s wild horses. As a well-known figure, Spirit attracts numerous visitors to the sanctuary. Through these encounters, he effectively communicates the urgent message regarding the current situation of the nation’s wild horses and how individuals can assist in their preservation. At 29 years old, Spirit relishes his time at the sanctuary, socializing with fellow horses and receiving care from his dedicated human caretakers. Despite being born in captivity, he embodies the free-spirited essence of the wild west. Thanks to "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron," his legacy will continue to inspire a commitment to the pursuit of freedom.

Il nostro CENTRO IPPICO è diverso, noi che lavoriamo all'interno ci sentiamo diversi ma non migliori degli altri perché sappiamo che abbiamo ancora tanto da imparare, adesso vi spieghiamo il perché!!!
Vi presentiamo Megan la nostra mamma, quando è arrivata per puro caso ci hanno detto che non valeva la pena tenerla. Era un cavallo finito, sfinito, tormentato, maltrattato. Il nostro problema più grande era capire come fare perché non si fidava di nessuno. Abbiamo passato insieme momenti brutti, pieni di lavoro e pensieri come recuperarla. Con calma, tanto amore e lavoro costante ci siamo riusciti, non solo è diventata una bravissima cavalla da passeggiata ma ci ha dato anche tanti bellissimi puledri.
Oggi Megan si gode la sua vita con le giornate piene di movimento e tante carote insieme ai suoi amici umani.

A runaway horse was discovered in the frigid waters of a Wisconsin lake, prompting a group of compassionate individuals to unite in their efforts to ensure that the Mustang would have the opportunity to enjoy a ride on Christmas.

The residents and nearby individuals expressed their relief when the horse, affectionately named Jack after a character from "Titanic," managed to rise and stand after being in the water for three hours at Wood Lake, Wisconsin.

Mike Strub, the president of the Big Wood Lake Association and a resident present during the rescue, stated that despite the frigid temperatures and scarce resources, his neighbours persevered relentlessly until they successfully brought Jack to safety.

According to Frontier Stables, the event occurred on Saturday when a tree collapsed onto a fence, resulting in an opening that allowed Jack to escape. The stables assisted in reuniting the horse with its family.

D.J. Ryan, aged 38, was among a group of approximately twelve individuals who ventured onto the ice to assist the horse. He informed ABC News that he came across a Facebook post on Saturday evening from a neighbour regarding a horse observed wandering along the road, prompting him and another neighbour to go out and look into the matter.

"We did find its trench and I thought it was on its way home,"

The following morning, the inhabitants near the lake observed a horse traversing the frozen surface, and surveillance camera footage captured the moment it plunged into the water at approximately 8:30 a.m., as reported by Strub.

Ryan said he and his neighbours quickly went to the lake to see what they could do.

"We saw it out there struggling and bobbing out, about 150 yards off the shore," he said adding that temperatures were negative 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ryan, who owns horses and whose mother is a veterinarian, said the horse was a Mustang, which is known to be pretty strong in cold weather conditions, but he and his neighbours knew that it would only be a matter of time before hypothermia took over. He and his neighbours spent a long time figuring out the best way to rescue Jack without harming him.

"On the scene, there was a veterinarian. As long as the horse was still moving and kicking it was available. That's why they never gave up," Strub said.
