"While the exact mechanisms through which CBG may combat cancer in pets are still being investigated, several potential pathways are being explored:

Modulating the endocannabinoid system: The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex network of receptors and signaling molecules found throughout the body. CBG may interact with these receptors, potentially influencing cancer cell growth and behavior. The ECS plays a crucial role in regulating various physiological processes, including pain, mood, and immune response. By interacting with the ECS, CBG may be able to influence the behavior of cancer cells, potentially inhibiting their growth and spread.

Reducing inflammation: By reducing inflammation, CBG may create a more favorable environment for the immune system to fight cancer cells and alleviate pain associated with the disease. Chronic inflammation is often linked to cancer development and progression, and reducing it can help create a more conducive environment for the immune system to function effectively.

Protecting healthy cells: CBG's antioxidant and neuroprotective properties can help safeguard healthy cells from damage caused by cancer or its treatment. This is particularly important, as cancer treatments can often have negative side effects on healthy cells. By protecting healthy cells, CBG may help reduce the overall impact of cancer and its treatment on the pet's well-being.

Potentiating the effects of other treatments: CBG may work synergistically with other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, enhancing their effectiveness while potentially reducing side effects. This could be particularly beneficial for pets undergoing traditional cancer treatments, as it may help improve the efficacy of these treatments while minimizing their negative side effects."

VCS Board Member Dr. Elena Battaglia brought this interesting study to our attention. It offers an in-depth overview of the science of the endocannabinoid system in animals.

Title: Endocannabinoid system and phytocannabinoids in the main species
of veterinary interest: a comparative review

Abstract: "Since the discovery of the endocannabinoid system and due to the empirical evidence of the therapeutic effects on several illnesses both in humans and animals that follow the administration of exogenous cannabinoids (i.e., phytocannabinoids), numerous studies have been conducted. These investigations aimed to identify the expression and distribution of cannabinoid receptors in healthy and pathologic organs and tissues of different animal species and to define the interactions of phytocannabinoids with these receptors. In the last decade, pharmacokinetics, efficacy and tolerability of many Cannabis derivatives formulations, mainly containing cannabidiol, in the main species of veterinary interest, have been also investigated. This manuscript summarizes the findings reported by the scientific studies published so far on the molecular
mode of action of the main phytocannabinoids, the localization of cannabinoid receptors in organs and tissues, as well as the pharmacokinetics, efficacy and tolerability of Cannabis derivatives in dogs, cats, horses and other species of veterinary interest. A deep knowledge of these issues is crucial for the use of phytocannabinoids for therapeutic purposes in animal species."

Title: Pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety of cannabidiol in dogs: an update of current knowledge

Summary: "Despite a certain number of available pharmacokinetic studies, the kinetic profile of CBD has yet to be fully known, probably because of the very different experimental conditions. In terms of efficacy, most studies have tested CBD’ ability to relieve osteoarthritic pain. In contrast, few studies have evaluated its role in epilepsy, behavioral disorders, and skin lesions. From obtained results, some evidence exists supporting the beneficial role of CBD. Nevertheless, the limited number of published studies and the occurrence of bias in almost all require caution in interpreting findings. From tolerability studies, CBD’ side effects can be classified as mild or unremarkable. However, studies were prevalently focused on short- to medium-term treatment, while CBD is usually employed for long-term treatment. Further studies are warranted to define better whether CBD could be a valid adjunct in canine treatment."

Primo passo per quel che riguarda il decreto entrato in vigore il 5 Agosto.
Adesso aspettiamo per quel che riguarda il DL sicurezza. Parrebbe riguardare solo la cannabis light vista nota mattutina del ministero.

È la terza volta che accade, e speriamo che possa dare anche agli accaniti proibizionisti, l’idea che la misura è colma. Il CBD non è stupefacente per l’Oms,

Le ultime indiscrezioni sul Decreto sulla filiera della canapa sono che passerà e tempo un mese sarà tutto bloccato. Quindi chi utilizza prodotti a base di canapa faccia in modo di averne per un po’. Nel frattempo sicuramente partirà un ricorso .

Fabian e la sua nuova seconda vita senza dolore:

Ciao, mi chiamo Fabian e sono un bellissimo husky di 11 anni. Vi scrivo per condividere con voi la mia esperienza affinché sia utile per altri pelosi come me.

Vivo con la mia padrona Barbara, che mi ama tanto, e per quasi tutta la mia vita non ho mai avuto problemi di salute. La mia razza è resistente perché sono un lupo. Tuttavia, l’anno scorso ho iniziato a stare male. Mi facevano male il collo e la zampa sinistra e mi lamentavo spesso per il dolore. Così la mia padrona ha deciso di portarmi a fare una tac per capire come risolvere il problema. Il risultato del referto non è stato positivo: a parte un’ernia cervicale che mi provoca tantissimo dolore e poca mobilità, in una delle due ghiandole surrenali compare una neoformazione forse di natura maligna. La notizia è stata sconvolgente per entrambi. Non c’era nulla da fare se non ridurre il dolore con il cortisone. La mia qualità di vita era cambiata radicalmente perché non potevo più correre come prima. Io adoro correre, fa parte del mio patrimonio genetico compiere lunghe traversate nella steppa artica. Per la mia padrona e per me è stato un dolore grandissimo perché pur essendo ancora giovane, la mia mobilità si era ridotta drasticamente. Per mesi sono stato costretto a prendere il cortisone. Poi un giorno, la mia educatrice Sabrina Mechella Monaldi ha parlato alla mia padrona di una veterinaria che cura gli animali con la cannabis. Per la prima volta c’era una speranza per me. E così l’abbiamo contattata. La dottoressa Elena Battaglia è stata molto gentile e, una volta che ha compreso il motivo della mia sofferenza, ha deciso di trattarmi. E così è iniziata la mia esperienza con questa nuova cura. E che cosa devo dire! Che sono rinato. Che piano piano il dolore è sparito e la mobilità è notevolmente migliorata. Ho ripreso a correre nel mio bellissimo giardino e a giocare con le prede che catturo come facevo una volta. La mia padrona ora è felice perché dopo un anno trascorso tra farmaci e veterinari, finalmente mi vede sereno.

E il mio tumore? Non sappiamo a che punto è né posso operarmi. La cosa importante è che la cannabis rallenta la sua progressione e che ne riduce il dolore qualora dovesse comparire. Io non so quanti anni di vita mi aspettano perché questo solo il mio creatore lo può sapere. Ma una cosa posso dirvela con certezza: il tempo che mi rimane lo passerò sereno e felice come una volta accanto alla mia padrona. Continuerò a correre e a giocare senza dolore perché due persone meravigliose come Sabrina Mechella Monaldi e la dottoressa Elena l’hanno reso possibile. Poi arriverà il giorno che raggiungerò il ponte arcobaleno per ritrovare il mio compagno perduto Igor, un pastore tedesco. Nell’attesa di quel momento, mi godrò ogni giornata di sole, ogni corsa, ogni alito di vento perché questa cura l’ha reso possibile.

A tutti voi amici pelosi che soffrite e che credete il dolore farà sempre parte della vostra vita, sappiate che la cannabis potrà restituirvi la gioia perduta. Affidatevi alla mia veterinaria Elena Battaglia e lei con grande amore saprà aiutarvi. Questo è la mia esperienza che ho voluto condividere con voi.

La richiesta per il rinnovo delle ricette della cannabis va fatta quando si è a metà del secondo flacone. Se si ordina dopo non si assicura la consegna per tempo.

CBD: CONFERMATA LA SOSPENSIONE DEL DECRETO
Il Tar ha confermato la sospensione del decreto che voleva inserire le preparazioni orali di CBD nella tabella dei medicinali stupefacenti. Riconosciute dunque le motivazioni della ICI - Imprenditori Canapa Italia, l'associazione che ha promosso il ricorso. Nella sentenza si può leggere che: “Non appaiano configurarsi, allo stato di fatto, imminenti rischi per la tutela della salute pubblica” e che quindi “sussistano i presupposti per la sospensione del provvedimento". L'udienza di merito è prevista per il 16 gennaio.
