🌞 Tips for Walking Your Dog in Hot Weather 🌞

As it is a hot day today, keeping your dog safe and comfortable during summer walks is important. Here are some tips for walking your furry friend when it’s hot outside:

Walk During Cooler Times: Aim for early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are lower and the sun isn’t as strong.

Check the Pavement: Use the back of your hand to test the pavement temperature. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws. Walk on grass or shaded areas instead.

Stay Hydrated: Always bring plenty of water for both you and your dog. Take breaks and offer water frequently.

Use Paw Protection: Consider using paw wax or dog booties to protect your dog’s paws from hot surfaces.

Keep Walks Short: On very hot days, opt for shorter walks to prevent overheating. Monitor your dog for signs of heat exhaustion.

Choose Shady Routes: Plan your walk in areas with plenty of shade to keep your dog cool.

Watch for Signs of Overheating: Keep an eye out for excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy. If your dog shows these signs, find a cool place immediately and offer water.

Tick season is here, and knowing how to remove ticks safely is crucial! Here’s what you need to know:

Why Use a Proper Tick Remover?
✅ Complete Removal: Ensures the entire tick, including its mouthparts, is removed, preventing infection.

✅ Reducing Infection Risk: Reduces the risk of Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and other tick-borne illnesses. Quick removal (within 24 hours) is key!

✅ Minimizing Skin Damage: Proper tools grip the tick without squeezing, minimizing skin damage and reducing the chances of the tick regurgitating pathogens.

✅ Ease of Use: User-friendly and effective for everyone, even those with limited experience.

✅ Hygiene and Safety: More sanitary than using fingers, which can crush the tick and increase disease transmission.

Never Do This to Remove a Tick:
❌ Squeeze the Tick’s Body: Can release more pathogens into your bloodstream.
