At Sandy Paws we are dog mad, extremely reliable, and are constantly striving to provide the best, safest and most responsible dog walking services in Jersey.
Sandy Paws was started by Dave Nimmo, who wanted to provide friendly, easy to book pet services where owners felt confident and happy in leaving their pets in his care. Your dogs are an incredibly important and precious part of your family and therefore we are committed to providing the very best care whilst they are with us.
Dave is a qualified IMDT dog trainer. (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers)
It is incredibly important for clients to have 100% trust in their dog walker or pet carer and therefore Sandy Paws only entrusts your pets with one a few hand picked experienced carers, passionate about all shapes and sizes of pets and who can provide a truly reliable, caring and professional service.
Importantly we all only believe and follow positive training methods and will not tolerate any use of punishment based behaviour modification methods such as shock collars, choke collars, physical force, yanking on leads and dominance to correct unwanted behaviour.
Having worked in the finance industry for many years Dave decided it was time to fulfill his ambition of working with dogs. He is ‘dad’ to Landy, a handsome Golden Retriever and Buddy, a cheeky Cockapoo and has recently adopted Bonny, an elderly Spaniel cross. As well as undertaking many of the group walks and 121 dog training sessions, Dave is also focused on ensuring Sandy Paws maintains a very high level of customer care, a consistent service and that all pets get the very most out of the time they spend with us.
Our services
Dog Walking.
We offer a full range of dog walking services throughout the day, 7 days a week, from one to one solo walks, to fun, social and interactive group walks in safe locations.
As we place a huge emphasis on providing safe and responsible walking services our group walks will never have more than 4 dogs on the walk and will never be left unattended in a vehicle.
Your dog will return home, happy and tired. We also provide fresh water, refresher recall training whilst on walks and will towel dry your dog in wet weather.
Dog Running
If you have an active dog then our dog running service could be for you. We offer traditional solo runs on the lead and Canicross.
Puppy care
You can’t stay off work for ever, so Sandy Paws can help during this important transition period by providing visits to care for your puppy without the worry of leaving them alone all day. We will visit at agreed times and play, feed, assist in toilet training and clean up any doggy mess. Our puppy care is often tailored to progress from 20 to 30 minute visits and walks, then small group walks with other puppies/suitable dogs, to finally being ready to join our group walks once they are over 6 months old.
Dog visits
Just need someone to pop in while you’re out? We can pop in at agreed times to check on your dog, provide toilet breaks, plenty of fuss and some important play time.

Why choose Sandy Paws?
Safety first
Many dog walkers walk large groups of dogs at one time. We will not do this so we limit the size of our group walks to 4 dogs or less so that your dog can be safely transported and experience a fun filled safe walk, under constant supervision, whilst being responsible and considerate to other walkers and dogs that we meet.
Attention to detail
When we walk dogs we allow extra time (in addition to the walk) to provide fresh water after their walk, towel downs if required and some fuss. We will also ensure their water bowl at home is replenished and If we have muddy boots, we will take them off before entering your home!
Free no obligation ‘meet and greet’ consultation
We will meet you and your dog/pet beforehand, at a time that suits you, to make introductions and to talk through our services and ensure we are providing the correct services for you and your dog. You are also very welcome to join your dog on a walk before booking, so you can ensure the service is right for you. Once you are happy to proceed we will run through a comprehensive set of questions so that we fully understand your preferences and the background and behaviours of your dog(s). All details collected will be available to you through our client portal.
Flexible service
We are a small enough to care yet flexible enough to meet your needs and provide a consistent service year round. For example we can continue to provide all our services to you, even when your primary dog walker takes a holiday.
Fully insured
We have a comprehensive insurance specially created for the pet services businesses - including public liability, non-negligent cover, third party liability, property damage, employer’s liability and key cover.
Positive methods
We do not tolerate any punishment which causes physical or mental discomfort to dogs. No yanking on leads, physical force, shouting and especially - no shock collars. I cant stress this point enough, it is incredibly important to me and the ethos behind ‘Sandy Paws’ that the dog comes first and under no circumstances will we employ anything other than positive reinforcement.
Responsible
When out walking your dogs we will do our upmost to be considerate to our environment and other dogs and people in our vicinity so that everyone remains safe and happy. This involves observing current laws on beach use (A conversation for another day!), ensuring dog mess is binned, being aware of other animals, livestock and other dogs, especially those on leads that may be reactive and not appreciative of being approached, basically doing the right thing, responsibly and safely.
Security measures
We take data protection seriously and adhere to the Data Protection (Jersey) Law. Please ask to see our data protection notice.
All of your personal information is kept completely confidential on either secure, encrypted servers if electronic or in a secure filing system. We also never put personal or address details with door keys.
Easy to use booking system
We trialed many software providers and chose what we felt was the best software on the market - it does the boring stuff for us like invoicing, but has a couple of impressive features that are available to you through a client portal, that for example, allows you to book services online, check what services you have coming up on the schedule and also check on what time and where your walker picked up and dropped of your dog.
Transparent fees
We have no hidden charges or registration fees, the price that we quote is the price that you pay, we do not even charge extra for weekends or early/late services.
