David Watson, CEO LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) gave us an overview of their sustainability agenda, which now includes their globally recognised LEAF Marque.

He's a great advocate of farmers teaching farmers, and believes Jersey already does a great deal others could learn from.

All of the recordings of today's presentations will be available to watch back on YouTube in the coming weeks or you can join us online today at:

Fantastic to hear from Deputy Kirsten Morel this morning. As the Minister with responsibility for the Island’s rural economy he reflected on the changes we have witnessed over the last three years he's been in the role.

Thank you to him for his continued support.

Roll on Jersey Royal season... thanks to Alex Bartlett, CEO of Albert Bartlett for joining us and sharing his passion and excitement about their plans for the 2025 season.

We can't wait to see the purple takeover as they look to reinvigorate consumers love for our favourite tuber.

We're already a few days into this month but there is still plenty of time to celebrate the beautiful local produce our farmers have been working hard to grow for us to enjoy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit on Saturday to see smallholder Oliver Griggs for his Open Farm Day. We learnt about his journey into farming and how he is negotiating the challenges and opportunities of small scale market garden farming. We also harvested a field of squash and fed some cabbages to the chickens!

After the tour we shared a meal prepared by SCOOP The Sustainable Cooperative inspired by the produce grown at the farm.

Fantastic news SCOOP The Sustainable Cooperative

Save the date! We're super excited to be launching our second season of Open Farm Days.

Our Open Farm Days provide an opportunity to engage with our growers and find out more about the work they do.

We will start by visiting Bramble Farm on Sunday the 8th of September, to learn about their work providing opportunities for therapeutic care, while rearing goats, sheep, pigs and chickens. This is followed by a visit to local smallholder and market gardener Oliver Griggs of The Lomah on Saturday the 21st of September.

Reserve your space here:
https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/scoop-open-farm-days-319509

A tour of each farm is followed by some delicious food, prepared with ingredients grown or produced on the site.

Open Farm Days aim to create a network of support among existing growers and those who might be considering a farming future, while connecting local producers with consumers, to foster a greater understanding and appreciation towards the work farmers in Jersey do for their community. Our Open Farm Days are supported by Farm Jersey .

All of our featured growers and producers share an interest in nurturing local ecological habitats, protecting our natural resources and producing wonderful food.

We will be introducing each Open Farm Day over the coming weeks, but places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
