Here you will find the most up-to-date information regarding clinic closures, operational changes, clinic events, GOJ Import Guidelines, Registration Requirements and much more. We are a by-appointment only facility with limited capabilities and recommend that everyone establish a client-patient relationship with an off-base Veterinarian in the event that we are unable to assist you and your pet w

ith their healthcare needs. We are not an emergency care facility and are unable to provide after-hour care for any Privately Owned Animal concerns and/or emergencies. We recommend that everyone establish an after-hour emergency pet care plan with an off-base Veterinarian in the event of an emergency. The Iwakuni VTF’s primary mission is to ensure the mission readiness and health of the Military Working Dogs stationed aboard MCAS Iwakuni. We are subject to closure without notice due to Mission Requirements. The Iwakuni VTF’s secondary mission is to provide compassionate medical and preventative care to the Privately Owned Animals who accompany their families to Iwakuni, Japan.

Good afternoon Iwakuni! As of August 1st the only change to entering the USA from Japan will be a notification of import on the CDC website!!

Updates to CDC’s August 1 dog importation rule: If you are bringing a dog into the US from a dog rabies-free or low-risk country, you now only need to fill out the simple CDC Dog Import Form. Other forms are no longer needed. The requirements for dogs arriving from high-risk countries have not changed, and these dogs are still required to have additional documents. Read the full requirements: www.cdc.gov/dogtravel

The CDC has published new requirements for importing dogs into the United States. These changes will impact all service members bringing dogs into the United States starting 1 August 2024!

Changes include the minimum age the dog can be to travel, vaccination status, and having proper paperwork filled out.

It is important to notice there are different requirements for pets who are rabies vaccinated at the on base facility versus off base. It is recommended to get the rabies vaccine at the MCAS Iwakuni Veterinarian if you are PCSing this summer to avoid additional steps to gain entry into the United States.

For any additional questions or concerns contact the MCAS Iwakuni Veterinarian Treatment Facility.

Paperwork to travel with your dogs can be found at:

Our Mission

The Iwakuni Veterinary Treatment Facility’s primary mission is to ensure the mission readiness and continued health of our Military Working Dogs stationed aboard MCAS Iwakuni.

Our secondary mission at the Iwakuni VTF, is to provide compassionate medical and preventative care to the Privately Owned Animals who have accompanied their families to Iwakuni, Japan.

The Iwakuni VTF is a by-appointment only facility. We are not an emergency veterinary clinic and strongly encourage you to establish an after-hour emergency pet care plan with an off-base Veterinarian.

Here you will find the most recent information about clinic closures, operational changes and clinic events, so be sure to “Like” and “Follow”. We thoroughly enjoy sharing photos from our events, so please be sure to share them with us.
