Yelp! Current situation:
Our dedicated vet is currently attending to an emergency case of a mama in dire condition. She recently gave birth to 8 pups and IV drips are vital to aid her recovery. We’ve resorted to using a basin of hot water to warm up the IV so poor mama doesn’t have cold water running through her veins. We're in search of a microwave to help warm the drip. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a functional microwave that can help ensure her comfort and well-being. Your kindness will make an immediate impact. Please reach out to us if you have a microwave to spare or if you can help in any way: [email protected] - 0743618892. Asante sana!

As our furry friends age, they require more care and attention to ensure that they remain healthy and happy. Senior dogs, like their human counterparts, may develop various age-related health issues such as arthritis, cognitive decline, and vision and hearing problems. As such, it is crucial to provide them with the proper care and attention that they need to lead a comfortable and happy life in their golden years.

To learn more about how to properly take care of senior dogs, we turned to the experts in the field of veterinary medicine. These professionals have provided us with some essential tips to help pet owners ensure their senior dogs remain healthy and happy.

1. Regular veterinary check-ups
According to Dr. Susan Nelson, a clinical associate professor at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, senior dogs should visit the veterinarian at least twice a year for a thorough physical examination. These check-ups allow the veterinarian to catch any potential health issues early and recommend appropriate treatment or management strategies.

2. Proper diet and nutrition
Senior dogs require a diet that is specially formulated to meet their changing nutritional needs. According to Dr. Rebecca Greenstein, a veterinary nutritionist, senior dogs require a diet that is high in protein, with moderate fat and low carbohydrates. She recommends pet owners consult with their veterinarian or a veterinary nutritionist to ensure their senior dog's diet meets their nutritional needs.

3. Regular exercise
Exercise is essential for maintaining a senior dog's mobility and overall health. Dr. Nelson recommends pet owners provide their senior dogs with regular, low-impact exercise such as walks, swimming, and gentle play. Exercise not only helps with mobility but also helps prevent obesity, a common issue in senior dogs.

4. Quality sleep
Senior dogs require more sleep than younger dogs, and they may have difficulty sleeping due to age-related health issues such as arthritis. Pet owners should provide their senior dogs with a comfortable bed and a quiet sleeping area, free from distractions and noise.

5. Socialization and mental stimulation
Senior dogs benefit from socialization and mental stimulation, which can help prevent cognitive decline and keep their minds active. Dr. Nelson recommends pet owners provide their senior dogs with toys, puzzles, and interactive games to keep them mentally engaged. Regular interaction with other pets and people can also help keep senior dogs socially engaged.

In conclusion, senior dogs require special care and attention to maintain their health and happiness. Regular veterinary check-ups, proper diet and nutrition, regular exercise, quality sleep, and socialization and mental stimulation are all essential components of a senior dog's care plan. By following these tips and consulting with a veterinarian or veterinary nutritionist, pet owners can ensure their senior dogs live a comfortable and happy life in their golden years.

Our friends are seeking a new family for their 7-year-old female Cane Corso named Archie.

We are looking for a family that can provide her with the necessary nutrition and exercise, and take good care of her overall. Archie has a great temperament and is a wonderful dog. If you are interested, please contact us. It is important that the new family has the financial means to provide for all of Archie's needs.

In addition to seeking a new family for Archie, we want to emphasize that we will be thoroughly vetting potential adopters. Our top priority is to ensure that Archie is placed in a safe and loving home with a responsible and caring family. Therefore, we will be asking detailed questions about your lifestyle, experience with dogs, and ability to provide for Archie's needs. We may also ask for references and conduct a home visit before finalizing the adoption. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this process to ensure the best outcome for Archie. If you are interested in adopting Archie and willing to undergo this vetting process, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Dogs are some of the most loyal and loving creatures on the planet, and yet so many are abandoned and abused every day. This is a dire situation that demands our immediate attention and action.

Abandoned and abused dogs are often left to fend for themselves on the streets, with no food, shelter, or medical care. They are forced to scavenge for scraps and fend off other animals, all while suffering from untreated injuries and illnesses.

But it's not just physical suffering that these dogs endure. They also suffer from emotional trauma and are often fearful, anxious, and mistrustful of humans. Many of them have been mistreated and neglected for so long that they have lost all hope.

As a society, we cannot turn a blind eye to this suffering. We must step up and take action to rescue these dogs, provide them with the care they need, and give them a second chance at a happy life.

There are many ways you can help. You can volunteer at a local animal shelter or rescue organization, donate money or supplies, or even foster or adopt a rescued dog yourself. Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a difference.

Remember, dogs are not disposable objects that can be discarded when they become inconvenient. They are living, breathing beings that deserve love, care, and respect. Let's work together to give them the lives they deserve.

EXPLORING THE BENEFITS OF ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FOR DOGS: A REVIEW OF CURRENT RESEARCH

Organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) has been used for many years as a natural remedy for various health conditions in dogs. Some of the benefits of organic ACV for dogs include improving digestion, regulating blood sugar levels, promoting a healthy coat and skin, and helping to prevent infections.

One study conducted in 2016 found that the addition of apple cider vinegar to dogs' drinking water resulted in a significant reduction in the number of fleas and ticks on the dogs (Hance, 2016). Another study published in 2017 reported that apple cider vinegar can help to reduce inflammation in dogs with osteoarthritis, potentially improving their quality of life (Kim et al., 2017).

Organic ACV can also be used topically on dogs to help with skin conditions such as hot spots, itching, and dermatitis. It is important to note that organic ACV should be diluted with water before being applied topically or added to a dog's food or water to avoid irritation or other adverse effects.

Overall, while more research is needed to fully understand the benefits of organic ACV for dogs, current evidence suggests that it can be a useful addition to a dog's diet or health regimen when used properly.

A happy home for a pet is a happy home for you. 🐕💙
Nice to meet you, I am Puma and I am a senior labrador. I was found when I was only 15 kg and I gave birth to three puppies when I was in foster care. I am doing so much netter now! I have gained weight, I love my walks and I take good care of my pups.
I will be spayed soon and now I am looking for a loving family who can bring me to the vet from time to time as my immune system is not in balance yet and I have a skin allergy.
Interested to add Puma to your home? Call 0733 571 125/0798 303 940 or look me up on the KSPCA website https://kspca-kenya.org/adopt-a-pet/.
