Grey mould in Tomatoes
-It is caused by the fungus Botryotinia f**keliana.
-It is a common and often serious fungal disease of tomato plants in greenhouses and fields.
-There are no tomato plant varieties with natural resistance to grey mold.
-Fungicides can help prevent it, but they will not cure a plant that is already infected.
-The best you can do is remove and destroy the affected plants and fruits and apply a preventative spray on any healthy-looking plants.

-The seedlings grow best when the soil is consistently moist but not wet.
-Don't allow the soil to completely dry out.
-Avoid use of fertilizer.

Early Blight Disease
-Plants infected with early blight develop small black or brown spots.
-Leaf spots are leathery and often have a concentric ring pattern.
-They usually appear on older leaves first.
-Treating Blight
If blight has already spread to more than just a few plant leaves, apply Daconil® Fungicide Ready-To-Use, which kills fungal spores and keeps blight from causing further damage.

We encourage farmers to always mulch their tomato gardens so that tomato fruits do not touch the ground (Soil surface).
Tomatoes with mulch grow better and are often healthier because the soil underneath is under less strain.
Also, as mulch reduces evaporation, you do not need to water the tomatoes as often. Mulch actively improves the soil structure and protects it from compression and erosion by wind, rain and overwatering.

Understanding Blossom End Rot
-It is caused by lack of calcium in the fruit.
-Lack of calcium reduces cell membrane permeability.
-This leads to swelling of the cells followed by leakage and destruction of the membrane structure.
-There is also a reduction in growth of new cells.
-This causes the characteristic dark, sunken areas.
