When we met the Mukomau Group, Widows Vision Group, and Mutanda Disability Group, their eyes were filled with curiosity and possibility. For the first time, they discovered that poultry rearing and value addition could be more than just a side activity it could be the doorway to real business opportunities.✨

Through lively discussions and hands-on learning, the farmers realized that rearing chicks, adding value, and selling strategically can unlock steady income and sustainable livelihoods.
This is where transformation begins with knowledge, a vision for agribusiness, and the courage to start small but dream big. 🌟

Today marked a significant milestone as we engaged with two farmer groups: Upendo Kisayani and Matinga Farmers from Kitui West Sub county.

🌟 The focus was on ✅ poultry rearing and ✅ poultry value addition, equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills to transform their poultry activities into profitable agribusiness ventures.

Through discussions, they learned how rearing chicks and marketing them strategically can open doors to sustainable income generation.
This training is more than just skill-building, it’s a pathway to economic empowerment. Farmers now see the potential of poultry not just as food production but as a business opportunity capable of transforming livelihoods.

With continued mentorship and support, we envision these groups evolving into successful poultry enterprises, boosting household incomes, and contributing to local food security. 🌟

𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽

We were proud to convene a One Health meeting under the theme: “Strengthening One Health systems at the County level through Partnerships and Collaboration for a healthier County and Improved Animal Welfare. “

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from Kajiado County to discuss matters of animal welfare and strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration.

Potential areas for collaboration identified include:
✅ Joint One Health activities such as vaccinations and outreach programs.
✅ Community awareness creation and sensitization campaigns on public health, Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and food safety.
✅ Review of the County Strategic Plan.
✅ Awareness creation on existing animal welfare acts.
✅ Support in follow-up of court cases.
✅ Review of the RRI strategy.

These efforts will contribute to healthier communities, stronger animal welfare systems, reduced risks of disease transmission, and improved rabies control in Kajiado County.
