End of Year Training
Dairy Mashinani this year will be closing off on 23rd December in Kinangop. The farmer hosting us for this training started off as a consultancy client. Long story short he had listened to all bad advice that his area was “bad” in terms of weather, land fertility, milk market, the breeds were bad etc. Everything was supposedly just “wrong” and at the time of our meeting he was short of selling his huge parcel of land to go settle elsewhere that was “more favorable.” A move that our resident consultant who is always starting fires aka Njuguna Patrick called “pure madness”. 😂

Today, on that same land he produces his own fodder even in excess. Has managed an impeccable silage system and has hacks for literally everything. Amekuwa mjanja hata karibu kutushinda with an above the ground silage system but managing rats and other such challenges so well.

On production na milk market Kujeni awaambie kwenye ilitoka without having to move. 😂 we didn’t create it, we did an in-depth analysis and developed a business model that works.
He decided to give back to the community this season, he is opening up his farm for a training as we plan and develop our resolutions for the new year. It was intended initially to be a village affair but he said with everything dairy networks has done for him, a friend of Dairy Networks is his friend as well and are welcome to the farm.

We tell this stories and some of you are always in doubt, come listen to this story as we learn and develop a vision for 2024 together.

Count this an official welcome. We hope to see you there! Supaphos will also be in plenty come ready to carry your Christmas stock hata Ngombe wakule chritmas vizuri.

*Demise of Dr. Muthee Kaunga*

It is with great sadness and utter disbelief that I relay this tragic news. Today, 26th July 2023, Dr Muthee Kaunga, the UASU Faculty Representative in the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), succumbed to a long illness bravely borne.

Dr Muthee was a labour champion for many years, had an unwavering spirit of resolve to ensure UASU achieves its mandate and will be so fondly remembered and missed.

Take time today to pray and condole with Dr Muthee's family. I will keep you informed once all details are set out.

Rest in Peace Brother.

~Hoof Health~

This is of importance especially in Dairy production. Did you know after Mastitis, Lameness contributes as a major constraint to milk production ?

This farmer informed us that this cow was initially producing 15 litres the production was cut by more than half to 6 litres in a week's time.

Don't give it a second thought if your cows seems lame inform your vet immediately, treatment might take long if delayed and Leads to losses.

"While we have no intention of telling Kenyans how to vote, we only ask voters to be wary of politicians who turn a blind eye on animal abuse as this is how they would treat the most vulnerable. We cannot make progress as a nation without caring for the weakest including animals."
