Tunza Punda Clinics (TPC) works to improve the welfare of working donkeys, through the alleviation of existing suffering and advocating for welfare practices and management to reduce and prevent suffering in the future; through provision of veterinary services to the needy donkeys across Kenya. TPC offers clinical veterinary services through emergency cases and routine treatment camps; preventativ
e medicine among other veterinary services. We are located in Kikuyu town near Nairobi but much of our work is done out in the field by our mobile clinic unit, which spend up time travelling around communities treating donkeys and advising owners. Further, TPC advances practical community knowledge transfer efforts in donkey welfare, health, husbandry management, preventive care, among other livelihood interventions. The TPC operations have in place a direct veterinary (curative and pain relief) service and preventive donkey health husbandry and management to support donkeys within Kiambu County. The regular treatment camps are strategically placed to reach to all donkeys in need. Programmatically the project has four components:
• Veterinary services
• Community education
• Advocacy and networking
• Research
