OUR AVOCADOS ARE UNDER SIEGE!!!
It is common knowledge that Avocado trees are some of the easiest plants to grow. We have never ever had to spray any pesticides or fungicide on avocado trees. UNTIL NOW!!
Avocado farmers, please be vigilant. There's a new pest attacking avocado leaves causing severe shedding of leaves. This pest is spreading like wild fire already spotted in most parts of the central region.
Shedding of leaves means that production of the fruits will be considerably reduced.
Whereas I personally don't have the remedy to this pest, I am afraid. Afraid because if farmers turn to spraying chemicals for control, our avocados may be banned in the international market. On the other hand if we just sit and watch, we are looking at a severe shortage of Avocado since trees won't be bearing much.
Please spread this to avocado farmers, to the concerned government institutions, to our agronomists and all stakeholders.
We need to arrest this problem and we need to do it now! The remedy needs to be organic to protect our international market.
