Pups are now 3 weeks old and getting big and naughty. They enjoy playing, fighting, barking and growling. And they are keeping Christine and her team very busy by pooping everywhere 😂

The puppies are 11 days old now. Always very hungry and growing fast. Luckily they are all healthy. Soon they will be able to see what is going on around them.

About 10 days ago Christine took in 2 dogs, a mama (ShuShu).and her son (Rocky). It was obvious that ShuShu was pregnant. But at the same time she was also suffering from a disease called CSTD.
Canine Sexual Transmitted Disease (CSTD), is a transmissible cancer that affects dogs. CSTD is spread by the transfer of living cancer cells between dogs, usually during mating. Many dogs here die of it. The cure is a cancer drug injection weekly. In early stages there is a good recovery rate, but advanced stages like ShuShu's is a question (pic 1).
It was also a question whether this dog is able to deliver with this disease.
But see yourself: 9 puppies! She now is getting high protein meals and meat soups 4 times a day and plenty of fluids. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the puppies will all make it 🤞🏼

Peter Piper, the feral cat that brought the disease Panleukopania in, now very happily playing in the catio joined to the house. Although he cannot be set free as he has a terrible nasel blockage due to damage from the disease he can live his life very happy with us here.

This is Tusker, our guest for his convalescence after his operation.
We are taking care of this beautiful big dog for a couple of weeks until the wound heals. It had a foot operation and although it has an owner it roamed the streets all day around the Colobus place. So we are taking care of him while the wound heals. It took them nearly a month to catch him as he was so frightened but he's a beauty and so gentle.

Wir kümmern uns ein paar Wochen lang um diesen schönen großen Hund, bis die Wunde verheilt ist. Es wurde am Fuß operiert und obwohl er einen Besitzer hat, streifte er den ganzen Tag durch die Straßen rund um das Colobus Gebiet. Deshalb kümmern wir uns um ihn, während die Wunde heilt. Sie brauchten fast einen Monat, um ihn einzufangen, weil er große Angst hatte, aber er ist wunderschön und so sanft.

The 4 kitten that came in last unfortunately brought in a cat disease.
Out of 8 kitten (incl. the 4 who's mother got killed) only 2 survived. Cleo who had already lost her own 3 kitten, keeps a good eye on them.

🚩ADOPTION ALERT- These two sweethearts arrived as tiny neonates, and their survival was uncertain. Thanks to our incredible foster mama, they're now thriving. Unfortunately, we thought we had the perfect adoption for them, but very sadly, it fell through. Now in temporary foster care, Dos and Tres can't stay there long, and we're determined not to bring them back to the shelter. They're healthy, friendly, litter-trained, and eagerly awaiting a permanent family. Adoption fee is 1500ksh per kitten, covering vaccinations- spaying/neutering will be done by KSPCA at 5 months old. Please share their flyer to help find them a loving home!

Yesterday was a wonderful day!
Well done Rachel and KSPCA Vet Mary Vincent and Kwale county vetinary man for all they have done yesterday to help Christine. 12 female cats spayed, 5 males neutered and 30 rabies vaccinations given to the dogs. What a great burden was lifted from Christine's shoulders. She is eternally grateful.

Gestern war ein wundervoller Tag!
Herzlichen Dank an Rachel und die KSPCA-Tierärztin Mary Vincent und den Veterinär des Kreises Kwale für alles, was sie gestern getan haben, um Christine zu helfen. 12 weibliche Katzen wurden kastriert, 5 männliche Katzen wurden kastriert und 30 Hunde wurden gegen Tollwut geimpft. Was für eine große Last wurde von Christines Schultern genommen. Sie ist sehr dankbar.

Christine had to resuscitate little Chillie 3 times during the night. She was limp and near to gone. In fact Christine left her to die never thinking she would pull through. But here she is again, although very weak. We are praying she will get her strength back now.

Christine musste die kleine Chillie in der Nacht dreimal wiederbeleben. Sie war schlaff und fast tot. Tatsächlich ließ Christine sie dann allein, weil sie dachte, dass sie es nicht schaffen würde. Aber hier ist sie wieder, wenn auch sehr schwach. Wir beten, dass sie jetzt wieder zu Kräften kommt.

We named her "Chillie". That little one fooled us for a few days. We thought it's a boy. Now it turned out it's a girl 😀 She is starting to improve a bit. She loves cuddling the teddys in her cage and has a hot water bottle under the blankets to keep her warm. Still praying she will make it 🙏

Here we go again!!! This little one only just about 3 weeks old was brought in this morning found at the roadside in the rain. Her body temperature far too low. She is feeding well from a syringe and now cuddled up in blankets with a hot water bottle. We are praying she will survive 🙏

Nicht schon wieder!!! Dieses gerade einmal drei Wochen alte Kätzchen wurde heute Morgen hergebracht. Es wurde im Regen am Straßenrand gefunden. Ihre Körpertemperatur ist viel zu niedrig. Sie trinkt gut aus einer Spritze und ist jetzt mit einer Wärmflasche in Decken gekuschelt. Wir beten, dass sie überlebt 🙏

4 kittens that were left behind by their owner. A woman and some kids were feeding them. One of them is injured. And another kitten is still missing.
Cleo, the mummy that lost her kittens caused by a cat desease is looking after all of us.

A new stray was brought in. Living on balconies around White House. Fundy has been feeding it. A young female very gentle around a year to 18 months. She was washed, wormed and got her claws clipped. Then she felt much better. As a rabies precaution all new animals need to stay in isolation for 10 days. We named her "Chikita".
Ein neuer Streuner, der hereingebracht wurde. Lebte auf Balkonen rund um das White Haus. Fundy hat sie gefüttert. Ein junges, sehr sanftes Weibchen im Alter von etwa einem Jahr bis 18 Monaten. Sie wurde gewaschen, entwurmt und die Krallen wurden gekürzt. Danach ging es ihr viel besser. Als Vorsichtsmaßnahme gegen Tollwut müssen alle neuen Tiere 10 Tage lang in Isolation bleiben. Wir haben ihr den Namen "Chikita" gegeben.

Athena, the Boerboel, and Jojo watching the world go by. Jojo has plaited legs and had to be taught to walk again. She came to us as a paralysed dog and hid behind the door for many days growling at everyone.
Athene, der Boerboel, und Jojo beobachten die vorbeiziehende Welt. Jojo hat krumme Beine und musste wieder laufen lernen. Sie kam als gelähmte Hündin zu uns und versteckte sich viele Tage lang hinter der Tür und knurrte jeden an.

On March 29 Christine lost Yogi, the dog that was always lying in her little sitting room. Christine knew 2 days before that the cancer was beating him. They struggled together for 6 months to keep going but 2 days before he left he told her that he had enough and 2 days later he passed away.
Am 29. März verlor Christine Yogi, der Hund, der immer in ihrem kleinen Wohnzimmer lag. Christine wusste bereits zwei Tage zuvor, dass der Krebs ihn besiegte. Sechs Monate lang kämpften sie gemeinsam darum, weiterzumachen, aber zwei Tage vor seinem Ableben sagte er ihr, dass er genug hatte, und zwei Tage später verstarb er.

Wir sind 3 - 4 Wochen alt. Wir wurden von einheimischen Kindern zu Footsteps Animal Sanctuary gebracht. Unsere Mama wurde umgebracht, weil sie ein Huhn getötet hat. Sie hatte so großen Hunger, da sie uns ja versorgen musste.
Nun suchen wir ein liebevolles Zuhause und nach jemand, der gut auf uns aufpasst.
