We have decided to turn our snout towards the cold north ❄️ for new adventures. Thunderbolts and lightning ⚡🌩️ very very frightening me.. All dogs Are sensitive to weather changes, some more than others. Did you know It's not only the noice and light that can be scary. Especially our long haired dogs have gathered to seek comfort. Their fur become static. If your dog have problems with static fur. Use a rubber mat under their bed, and use a dryer sheet on their fur. There are things you can do to help your dog with thunder and separation anxiety, contact us today if you need help

Emma joined the VSL team as Clinic Manager one year ago. 🏥

With her deep desire for lifelong learning she enrolled into further education in veterinary care. 😻

This month, she graduated from a Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Care Assistants (VCA) with the College of Animal Welfare in the UK with 2 merits and 1 distinction.

This 12-18 month course contained principles and practices of animal handling & care, assisting with veterinary care, and administrative duties in the veterinary environment. Now, Emma is considering enrolling in the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing course and a Diploma in Foundation of Canine Behaviour Management from Compass Education UK.

Join us to 👋 congratulate Emma 👋 and celebrate this amazing achievement!

Emma handles much of the day-to-day running of the clinic, supervising the local staff, customer service, as well as assisting with pet imports and exports.

Peamun is a good doggie boi. He is spending an relaxing weekend with us while his hooman had to do this workthing in bigcity. He have been ill for a while🤢 so we made sure he got plenty of rest and cuddles. ⚕️🤕 Dr. Rozhnov Artur came to check up on him (on his birthday 🎉) with all medications needed to finish his treatment. He is all good! Food goes in and out of right places now ☀️

He can be a little very of other dogs so we also work on socialisation and positive interaction with different dogs while he his here.

The big dog treat test!!! While it's raining cats and dogs let's have some dry inside games today.

Yogi the window licker. 🪟😋🐕

Meet Yogi! She lives with her other doggie friends Bear and Bobo (there is a good theme going on here) and her hoomans.
The world is a little stressful place for Yogi. Big "scary" cows, and Motos everywhere, and many dogs that she is not sure if she wants to meet or stay away from her human. when she doesn't know how to deal with a situation she becomes insecure and don't know where to go or what to do. So it ended up in stressfully reactions, jumping and pulling around like crazy with growling and barking.
And at home or anywhere else she is the sweetest, cuddliest girl.

We all know the Jekyll &Hyde sides of our sweet doggies

When the world is a difficult place, stressful behaviour can show itself in many ways also at home. Destructive behaviour, restlessness, pacing, barking, digging, licking of paws or windows...

To help Yogi calm down we introduced a slip lead instead of a harness to easier lead her in to the right calm behavior. And we have been especially working on recognizing and breaking her chain of reaction in insecure situations (like meeting cows, dogs, motos) by distracting her early enough with positive associations and reinforcement when she is calm, before she goes off in to a frenzy.

In general we have also been working on how and when to reward, guide and give affection in different situations. It is very easy to not be aware of our own body language and how we relate to our dogs.
Our furry friends observe us all day, and they are masters of body language, they know more about us than we do, so if you are tense and keep the lead tight, your dog picks up that you are nervous and tense and will react there after often with protective behaviour.
If you comfort your dog with affectionate pets, when he is reactive and insecure you tell him "this is ok, I want more of this behavior".

Yogi is much more relaxed now when the world has come in to order and she knows what to do when the scary cows and Motos appears. And the window cleaning is more and more left to the humans.
