Working to help rehabilitate and train dogs is more than a job, but truly a passion of mine. A family that was struggling with their dogs constantly fighting and not being able to easily live together reached out in search of help for their two pups with littermate syndrome. Littermate syndrome is a behavioral condition that can occur when two puppies (regardless of if they are from the same litter or not) around the same age are raised together and become overly dependent OR aggressive with each other, leading to lack of harmony inside and outside the home.

All of these dogs were trained separately. Dogs must learn seperately before they can be trained together. And when you have well trained pups around each other, they begin to influence each other positively. Environment matters. Who you surround yourself with matters. But what matters most is how solid of a foundation you set first.
The biggest story owners are being told and telling themselves is that certain unwanted behaviors like play biting, leash pulling, or jumping will just "go away" as the dog matures. Bad behaviors are like bad habits, and anyone can admit that an undesired habit does not just go away - especially without tons of conscious effort and behavior modification. Start the training young! Teach, shape, and guide your dog towards the behavior you want today otherwise do not expect an improved dog tomorrow.

Breed matters! Every dog needs an outlet to express themself and their genetic makeup. A stalky built Labrador is less likely to make a high jump than a lanky, tall Malinois (notice we said less likely, because nothing is impossible).
When you get your next dog, keep in mind that breed matters and you should choose your next dog based on the lifestyle you currently live - not the lifestyle you want to live! While dogs are capable of adapting, breed makeup will often determine what your dog will excell at and what they will need to live a fulfilling life.

Most people struggle with getting their dogs to listen to basic commands, but the reality is most dogs don't care to follow through when their owners don't hold them accountable. Why should they? Lessons from Dog. Lesson #2. Exercise is vital. Here's the reality: I have NEVER met a well exercised dog that has behavioral issues that are not manageable. Never. Fact is, so many dogs are under exercised and under stimulated. But the number 1 reason I hear why a dog isn't being properly exercised is, "I don't have enough time." If you aren't exercising your dog, you yourself are most likely not getting your daily steps in either. This can create an intense downward spiral, not only for your dog but also for you - your physical, mental, and/or spiritual health may also be suffering. Exercise. Is. Vital.
