It is always a great pleasure to bring our guest on a ride outside, our poneys love it as much as our guest.

I’m so proud of their progress each year and now even our last one Kalypso is starting to go on ride with guest!

Hmong horses are truly amazing little horses, with lots of potential, qualities and multi-discipline.
Our training is focus on biteless riding and all of them are amazing at it.

Try our Trail rides with our lovely Hmong horses.

The rainy season have started and our stables luck beautifully green !

1 year ago it wasn’t like that at all and we had to do a lot of landscaping to recreate natural environment and tropical garden. Everything had been cut and dried out..

It is beautiful to see the nature, the flowers, the trees growing and offer the best home ever to our Hmong horses.

This morning our guest were able to partake in Alms giving ceremony at our local village near by the horses stables.
They wake up early morning at 6 am and on foot they walk to the village to donate to the monks.

This is an important tradition in Laos' Buddhist culture and is locally known as "Tak Bat" - the "Morning Alms Ceremony", when local devotees offer food (normally sticky rice & other cooked dishes) to them, as their main daily meal.

Alms giving is practice every morning by the population, in general the elderly who prepare food for them.

Stay in one of our tent and experience the early morning alms giving with us.

Guess how many times a day we feed our horses ?

- 1 time a day
- 2 times a day
- 3 times a day

Our Hmong horses are around 150 to 250 kilos. They need a LOT of food to be in the shape they are now and to be able to carry us on ride outside. We feed them with local leftover of rice (rice skin), mix of cereals, horse complementary food and of course their main food : grass! And other greenery (bamboo leaves, banana leaves, rice straw, etc).

Our cooker Gnern have been working with us for 1 year this month.
We are happy to have her with us at the Horse Stables
She is in charge of cooking meals at our Cafe-restaurant and mainly for our staff and volunteers.

As part of sustainability, ecology and our green practices, Gnern go to make our shopping with a shopping bag and say no to plastic while buying at the local market.
She is aware of the importance of reducing plastic consummation and she is part of making compost process at our small organic farm.

We like to keep our stables as sustainable, ecological and environment friendly as possible and Gnern play a significant part in it.
So proud

Did you know once a month we do a complete cleaning and check of our riding equipment ?

All leather equipment; saddle, bridle, headcollar, leg boots, riding boots, or shoes should be wiped clean from dirt with a slightly damp sponge and saddle soap. When needed, you should also apply leather conditioner or oil, to protect and condition the leather. By doing this our Horseriding equipment is always controlled and safe for our rides and riders.

Our volunteers and horseman put hands on and use a grease for leather care from France.

“Wild heart can’t be broken”

It is not only about riding it is also and mostly the health, happiness and well-being of our Hmong horses

We love our monsters and the naughty part of them.

They have a soul, a big heart and interacting with them is a lovely moment that will stay with you forever.

All of our rescue Hmong horses originally come from the wilderness, we want to keep it that way so they live in an active and open stables. We ride them bite-less and we train them equine ethology.

Discover more about equine ethology in one of our workshop or our weekly class. Become a horseman/women whisperer instead of a careless rider.

Ganapi

Our loving pony, she love & would trust human with all her heart. She is the one who lack of nothing since she was taken care by Saita. She never missed anything and is so lovable. Despite being sometimes a happy and joyful naughty pony with our young rider. Her eye says it all.

Thank you to Rescue House Luang Prabang for this amazing shot of her.

Breakfast time for the ponies

Did you know that we feed our horses 2 times a day on top of the daily grass they have to eat.

Each morning and evening they have a breakfast and a dinner that are a mixture of rice barn, corn and horse cereals. The more they work, the bigger the portion is.

Horses needs to eat a lot and in Laos they aren’t producing horse food so we need to order horse food from Thailand where they produce it. This is quite expensive and that is why we offer rides to children so that we can supply with the best food for our Hmong horses.

NamKhan Horses Stables

This project was born by pure chance, while I was walking in the Laotian countryside, I discovered a magnificent place: NamKhan Project. Having already a Hmong pony the idea came by itself, my pony would be so nice here. After an exchange with the owners, we have created a stable worthy of the name that can accommodate many residents. This is how NamKhan Horses Stables was born it is an excellent friends and family outing place. Immerse yourself in an enchanting green sanctuary with a wide range of sports and adventure offers.
