How Beirut Cat Cafe came to be Lebanon’s first pet cafe

Our founders are a group of animal lovers and coffee enthusiasts. After visiting some amazing cat cafes around the world, we knew that relaxing with a cup of coffee and a cat on your lap is just what Beirut needed. It took a whole year of planning, but Beirut Cat Cafe has finally come to life and we couldn’t be more excited for all the cat lovers to see their new hangout location.

What is Beirut Cat Cafe

Beirut Cat Cafe is a coffee shop that fosters rescue cats. We work with one of Lebanon’s local animal welfare NGOs, BETA (Beirut for Ethical Treatment of Animals) by fostering their shelter cats and helping them find their furrever homes!

Shelter cats are often overlooked and perceived as un-adoptable. We want to encourage people to adopt their pets instead of shop for them. By allowing our visitors to spend quality time with the cats in a nice relaxing environment, we give them a chance to get to know their possibly future pet before making the adoption commitment.

In-House Kitty Rules

Cats don’t like to be carried around. We kindly ask you not to pick up a cat, or forcefully place it on your lap. Cats will cozy up to you on their own if you give them a chance!

Sleep time is sacred! Please don’t wake up a sleeping cat, they need their beauty sleep.

A cat’s tail is a big no-no! Do not try to pull on a cats tail, it is a very sensitive part of their furry little bodies and will not like it.

Loud noises scare the kitties. Try to speak softly and avoid making sudden loud noises in order to keep the cats comfortable with you.

We like to stay in control of our cats diets. Please do not try to feed the kitties any treats or let them lick the cream off of your delicious drinks!

We have a cat themed Gift Shop!

To make things even cuter, Beirut Cat Cafe has a gift shop that will please all cat lovers! From cat themed jewelry, t-shirts and tote bags to adorable toys and accessories to pamper your little feline at home. Other than that, we sell the beautiful work of some local artists who have a little bit of a kitty quirk in the work.

How can you adopt a cat from Beirut Cat Cafe?

When you visit our cafe, and fall in love with a certain cat, you can ask our staff for an adoption application. You will fill out some personal information, point out which cat you’re looking to adopt, and hand the application back to us. We will forward your form to BETA’s team, and they will continue with the process from there!

We do not sell cats nor do we profit from cat adoptions. When an adoption is approved, the adopter will have to pay a free of $50 to BETA as a donation to their NGO. The donation will be put into rescuing and helping other cats in need.
