Its Groundhog day at Dogstar, We are back under curfew

A sudden spike in local cases has put us back under curfew for the first time since May, but what is a Sri Lankan curfew and how is it different to a circuit breaker, fire break, tier level lockdown in the UK?

Our curfews here are absolute and enforced by the military, you cannot leave your house without a curfew pass, no hour of exercise, no social bubbles and no shopping, if you are outside without a valid reason, you can be arrested, detained at a quarantine centre and your vehicle impounded. This is the same system we had between March and May and its why we created our street dog feeding program as all the dog's normal food sources disappeared overnight

We are reapplying for the required permissions, we will need to ramp our feeding program back up again as many dogs will now have no other food sources again, we have spent the afternoon getting extra supplies in.

Dogs like Larry who lives in a former tourist area pictured here with the beautiful Lalith relies on the meals you provide him and the fuss that Lalith gives him on your behalf

It is on days like today we thank our lucky stars for you, our online Dogstar’s, you make it all happen for these dogs no matter how tough the odds

Mandy, a Sri Lankan street pooch, female, around 04 months old, both legs on her right side (front & back) had been injured (could have caused by an accident or someone would have beaten her)
Calluses had formed on the injured areas, doctor advised not do any surgeries on her as the bones had already self-healed, hardened and would cause further irritation to her. She will have to live with these scars, the injured hind leg is a bit shorter than the other due to the injury, seems to be having a small rash on her skin, she is being tested for any contagious diseases at Best Care Kennels and will be vaccinated soon

වල් බල්ලා..!!

මෙන්න මුන්ට වල් බල්ලා කියල නම දැම්මේ කවුද.?
ඒ මොන පදනමකින් ද.?
මූ වල් බල්ලා වෙලා, අනික් උන් හොඳ බල්ලෝ උනේ කොහොමද.?
මේ ඉන්නෙ වල් බල්ලෙක් නෙවෙයි, මූ අපේ එකෙක්.!!

ඔව්, අපේ එකෙක් හෙවත් ශ්‍රී ලංකා දේශීය බල්ලෙක්. Sinhala hound කියන නමින් හඳුන්වන මේ අපේ එකා ගැන ඉතිහාසයේ ඉඳන්ම කරුණු තියෙනවා. කොටින්ම විජය කුමාරය ලංකාවට ගොඩ බහිද්දී ඌටත් බල්ලො බුරල තියෙනවා. ඒ කියන්නෙ අපේ එකා ඒ කාලෙත් ඉඳල තියෙයි..!!

ඒ විතරක් නෙවෙයි, යක්ෂ ගෝත්‍රිකයෝ ඇති කරපු බල්ලො ගැන මහා වංශෙත් සඳහන් වෙනවා..

ඉතිං මුං නිකන් උන් නෙවෙයි. තමන්ගේ ස්වාමියා වෙනුවෙන් මැරෙන්න උනත් ලෑස්ති බොහෝම මිත්‍රශීලී අය. නමුත් බුල්ඩෝග් තරම් දරුණු aggressive විශේෂයක් නොවන හින්දා ඔබේ පවුලේ සාමාජිකයන් අතර ඉතාම ආරක්ෂිතව ඇතිකරන්න පුළුවන්.

ඒ වගේම මෙයාලාට අමුතුවෙන් විශේෂ කෑම ජාති ඕන නෑ. ඔබ දෙන ඕනෑම දෙයක් එයාලා සතුටු සිතින් අනුභව කරනවා. මුළු රෑම එක තත්පරයක් ඇහැ පියවෙන්න නොදී මෙයාලා තමාගේ ස්වාමියාගේ දේපල ආරක්ෂා කරනවා.

ගෙදරට අනතුරක් නම් තමන්ගේ පණ උනත් දෙවෙනි තැනට දාලා සටන් කරනවා..!!
ඔබේ දුකේදී මූණ පුළුටු කරගෙන ඔබේ පැත්තකින් ඉඳගෙන ඉන්නත්, ඔබට මහන්සි වෙලාවට හිනාවෙලා නැට්ට වනාගෙන ඇවිල්ල ඔබව ලෙවකාලා ඔබේ මහන්සිය අතුරුදහන් කරන්නත් මෙයාලට පුළුවන්..

ඒත් හැම වෙලාවෙම වදයක් නොවී පාඩුවේ ඉන්නත් මෙයාලට පුළුවන්..
රැලට යන කාලෙට කෑල්ලක් සෙට් කරන් ආතල් එකක් ගත්තට ඌ ඒ මොනව තිබ්බත් ගෙදර ගැන ඇලට් එකේ ඉන්නවා..!!

එතකොට මුන්ට කටුවො කනවා, කිනිතුල්ලො එල්ලෙනවා, මැක්කෝ වහනවා ජරා වෙනවානේ...?

ඔව් ඉතිං.. උඹත් සති දෙකක් නාන්නෙ නැතුව හිටියොත් උඹේ කෙල්ල හෝ කොල්ලා උඹ දිහා බලාන බත් කන්නෙවත් නැතිවෙයි.. උඹව දකින උන්ට ලේ බඩ යයි..!
අන්න ඒක බල්ලන්ටත් වෙනවා..

නාන්න ඕන, කන්න ඕන, බේත් විදින්න ඕන ලොකු ලොකු breed වල බල්ලන්ට විතරක් නෙවෙයි. මොන බල්ලා උනත් හදනවානම් හරියට හදන්න ඕන..!
මුන්ටත් බේත් ඕන, නාන්න ඕන, කන්න ඕන..!!

දාස් ගාණක් දීලා රට බල්ලො ගෙනල්ලා උන්ට ඕන හැටියට උඹ ජීවත් වෙවී කට්ට කාගෙන උන්ව රකින්න පුළුවන්නම්, නිකන් හම්බවෙන අපේ එකෙක්ව ඒ විදියට රැකබලාගන්න එක මහ අමාරු වැඩක් නෙවෙයිනෙ..

රට බල්ලො හදන එක තමන්ගේ කැමැත්තක් නිසා මං ඒකට මොකුත්ම කියන්නෙ නෑ.. හැබැයි එහෙමයි කියල මුන්ව දෙකේ කොලේට දාලා, උන්ව "වල් බල්ලො" කරන්න එපා..

මුන් එහෙම නෝන්ඩි වෙන්න ඕන ජාතියක් නෙවෙයි,
මුන් අපේ එවුන්...!!
